so underneath that bridge was a tunnel that connected Benjamin Rush park(the older part of Byberry state hospital) to the main area morgue. It was bricked up. I'm pretty sure those tunnels are still there. also there used to be steam tunnels connected all of the buildings on the main area, which again I'm pretty sure still there since some of the roads on top are still visible. But only where the front C buildings used to be.
There was a road by the Byberry Hospital that had up and down small hills that my father used to enjoy taking us to on a Sunday afternoon for a ride on this crazy road. Don't know if the road is still there, or if it was repaved over the years.
Am amazed at how spacious this and other Philly parks are. They look like great places to have picnics and softball games. Thanx for the tour. All the way club, Cuz. Toodles ...

My great aunt was at this hospital in 1950.
When they closed the hospital, the 5000 patients were released in New Jersey.
In the1940’s they released patients to half way places and on the streets.
