Man, I grew up watching this show (born in 1977). My mom was a teacher and I would watch it with her in the summer when I wasn't playing. It's amazing to go back and watch old ep. Some of the stuff that I do remember, it's nice to see as an adult now. I was 7 when this ep. aired.
Thank you for posting this. I discovered John Stamos when he was featured in Tiger Beat Magazine back in 1982 and unfortunately there weren't VCRs back then, so there are a lot of episodes that I missed. Never thought I'd be able to see them until now.
I still feel emotional as I watch part of this storyline all these years later. In part, it caused Jake and Rose, my fave couple, to split up, and I loved Lou. Thank you so much for posting.
I agree Donna! He should have come back years ago!! I always wanted him to come back :( and it wasn't even his fault!! I remember hating Jack Wagner because he was replacing John Stamos. But then after a whileI really loved Jack Wagner.
I am now convinced that John Stamos' subconscious got Uncle Jesse's "Have mercy" catchphrase from this episode after Garry Marshall told him he needed one.
I miss Blackie :( I had just started watching the show the year earlier when Blackie and the Riff Raff were just getting big .I watched the whole Blackie and Lou relationship.
@tammyramey Lou's death was so shocking and senseless. It was understandable that Blackie would feel guilty, but Steffi was truly the one responsible because she shoved Lou into a table, which caused her fatal head injury. It was frustrating that the writers chose to have Blackie take the rap for Steffi, who was never brought to justice for what she did. Jake and Rose were a fantastic couple, and I hated the way they broke up. But I think the actress who played Rose chose to leave the show.
1984 was just a bad year for the Webbers. I still have a bad taste in my mouth for what was done to that family. Within one month, Rick lost his wife, and one of his kids ends up in jail. Tragic!
Years later they really ruined the character. Dr. Rick, had his faults, was a pretty decent guy. They brought back to the show years later, he was like a different person, and then he was kills off.
@netguy02 I agree about the laziness of GH's writing! I left in August of 84 when Rose Kelly left and didn't return full time until Jerry Jacks' arrival in 1998. By the time Lou died, I didn't recognize many characters...all were written out of character, it seemed to me. I do know there was a a writer switch at that time.
I liked RM as Ridge too, was kind of shocked when he quit and B&B recast him! And then he ended up on some low budget internet soap! Why leave the longest running major network soap for an internet soap? Anyway I'd be delighted if TPTB brought back John Stamos as Blackie for a good storyline.
Yeah,he didn't seem to go on to bigger and better things like he suggested he was going to.Don't forget that he also made an appearance on General Hospital with his band Player this past spring.
Don't get me wrong, I loved Player back in the late 70's, but they have only 2 major hits. Not enough to support major world tours like say, Fleetwood Mac. If anything Ron Moss would have been better off trying to get himself cast as a new character on GH! Look at Michelle Stafford, she left Y&R, tried to start a youtube soap, and now she's on GH!
If she died how is it that yrs later she shows up raising Lulu=Laura's daughter? I don't remember her dying. I thought Rick and Lesley divorced over Monica?
@tammyramey I agree with you on all counts. Ultimately, I thought Steffi's story came across as a sick commentary of how powerful people in show biz are untouchable and can do anything--including kill someone--and get away with it. By the time Lou died, it seemed as if GH had become arrogant because of its success and lazy in its storytelling. Steffi getting away with killing Lou was one of the reasons I stopped watching the show. By mid-1985, I was no longer a regular viewer.
Yeah I agree that they became quiet lazy until they started the FnF (Felicia and Frisco) Saga. It’s like they didn’t knew what to do for a while after Luke/Laura left and so many others starting leaving.
John W Landry Blackie is mentioned during one episode back in, like, 2011. Two characters are talking and they say Blackie couldn't make to something because of scheduling conflicts with his band.
@netguy02 Yeah, Loanne Bishop/Rose wanted off the show, but months earlier she and Jake broke up over disagreements surrounding Lou's death. I loved Rose and Jake and was totally devastated when they broke up over something that was Steffi's fault. It was surely heartbreaking all around. I LOVED Lou and loved Blackie/Lou as a couple. Steffi should be in prison. Actually, poor Lou should never have died in the first place.

Same experience I remember a lot just not all characters or full picture I'm glad to rewatch now
Same! But growing up in the late 90s early 2000s

The actor playing Blackie's Lawyer also played Danny Walenda on Knots Landing

Have Mercy!

Blackie gets out three years later and joins his brother in law in San Fransisco to raise his three kids.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
He marries a talk show host too

Stamos use to visit Knott's Berry Farm often during that time. His high-school girlfriend had a sister that worked there.

Would like to have seen what Blackie was doing after his sentence.
Stay tuned for Monday's (5/12/14) episode
I hope the rumors aren't true, that Ronn Moss has been recast as Blackie..
victoria grant Thank God that never happened.I liked Ronn Moss as Ridge Forrester on B&B,but he is too old for the role of Blackie Parrish.

He was Blackie
this was right after lesley died... 😭😭😭

@@sandratomes9000I encourage you to watch episodes from 1980-Feb 1984 to fill in the gaps concerning Rick & Lesley.

I don't believe the Blackie Parrish character himself ever once returned to Port Charles since then, let alone John Stamos.
Emie Craigo Of course, that doesn't mean that he still can't eventually resurface in Port Charles.

That's one beautiful, Steve Perry-lookin', 1980's sunuvagun

He'd have to go by Albert if he ever comes back. I don't think a white dude being called "Blackie" would go over well nowadays.
🙄
I just found out that I am 5 years older than John Stamos.
I have a sister his age
Happy Labor Day from blackberry
What happened
Never mind!
2 years. he wouldve been out by the 90s.. why hasnt he come back to PC yet
Il me fait de la peine le pauvre j adore john stamos
