I’m a boomer (1951) and I started watching Crooked Media because you all presented coverage while allowing me to also laugh. I thank you all and John Stewart. I watch on you tube cause you are all adorable. Thanks.
Both Biden and Trump are old. But, Biden has decades of experience as a politician. Trump does not. The country doesn't need a showman to run it. It needs an experienced, qualified American who believes in the Constitution and the oath of office.
Trump is a masthead for a authoritarian movement that’s swallowed the Republican Party. He wants to trash the Constitution to make American 1940 nazi Germany.
Now go talk to everyone you know who is a trump supporter or non-voter and listen to why they won't support Biden because if we don't figure that out then we may not have enough new voters to win this battle! We are on the same team but we are not acting like it and that must change if democracy is going to move forward.
@HopeWins777 we know why. They've told us loud and clear. The problem is that their reasons are UTRER BULLSHIT SPAWNED IN MAGA FANTASYLAND, and no amount of evidence will show them they've been lied too.
With respect to Jon Stewart's return, I think he has surged in viewership because of his trustworthiness. I grew up trusting his news and views. In a time where people don't trust legacy media, many feel that they can trust him.
Long time fan here... And look how he started out. He smugly talked about his past glibness and completely shat upon all the warnings of experts, including people who worked with Trump, re Trump being an existential threat to democracy and said we'd survive no matter who was elected. I couldn't care any less that he picked on Biden for his age and liked the very end message, but this was utter BS (plus he insinuated that Trump might be competent) and more proof that Jon's ego is not helpful at times and this is one of those times.
@@IExpectedBSJustNotThisMuchBSI'm a huge Stewart fan, too, and agree with your critique of his 1st show's monologue; but the one thing that deeply disappointed me was how lazy it was. EVERYONE is complaining about Biden's age so let's pile on. Let's ignore all the old man's accomplishments. Why not embrace the "my old man can beat up your old man" aspect of the Biden/Trump fight. Nope. Just trotted out the "Biden's old" trope and it left me completely underwhelmed.
@@ClaudiaRichmann Exactly. That first show was beyond disappointing because it was so tired and basic. I don’t want Biden to run again - not because of his age or lack of ability to govern - but because he’s not the leader we need to slay MAGA and the right-wing. I wish Jon Stewart would have talked about creating a job description for a president or just something creative. Talk about how being a leader means you have the energy to get out there every day and go on the offense with messaging. That we need someone authentic and innovative to reframe issues and build new systems. So for him to go with age? But - then he felt like his old self last week with Tucker. When he’s on, no one is better at authentically expressing our outrage at the absurdity and hypocrisy that Dems and most liberal media can’t effectively voice. It was cathartic. And cathartic to hear some come out and call Tucker a d*%^ :)
Everybody is always harping on my presidents age. I'm happy with what 45Joe R Biden is doing. I just refilled my Entresto for congestive heart failure. It went from 180+$ to 47$. I would say that's a good thing for me and other users that are suffering just like me. He's not sleepy eyed/Biden crime family! He's just a good president and he's trying to help us out. I get fu*king pissed when left leaning media bashes him, it's bad enough that mainstream media does it also. What the hell do you want? We should be lifting him up. He may not be the best but it's what we got and he's done everything he can to help us out. Would you rather have orange Julius and his maggots to run and become your dick-tater? He dose not care for you or this country or our constitution. He's planning on using this country as his personal piggy bank and your money is added in there. He will take the rich man's money and he'll reach fir the little money the middle class etc. He's never been denied and it's not in his wheelwell. Remember when you bash Biden because he's not doing what YOU think he should do, you're lifting up orange Julius.
Jon Stewart said what a lot of people (on all sides) are already thinking. I think we should have learned by now that you can't shame people and call them ageist, racist, sexist, etc. That just doesn't work. If you watch Jon's full segment, there is NO equivalency between Trump and Biden.
What Tina is describing about a sense of community and family is exactly how cults operate. They foster a sense of loyalty, and you feel like you're betraying them.
On one hand you have one doddering Grandfather with over 50 years in public service. On the other hand, you have a doddering grandfather with 4 years of public service, and is an adjudicated rapist, and has been indicted 91 times. All true.
What is also true is that one has 50 years of war mongering under his belt, and now supports a gen0cide. The other has 50 years of immoral acts within his corporation and with women. The US is screwed.
Regarding: Stewart now and then. I'm a much more partisan Democrat than I was pre-trmp. I don't want to listen to both sides anymore. I'm done with magadiot thinking.
And I’m done with sides and labels. I’m wanting moderates to step up and speak out and more than anything I want Dems/liberals/moderates to go on the offense and win the messaging/comms/marketing war. Which is why so many of us will forever love Jon Stewart. Because no one is more brilliant than him at delivering the messages we want the Dems leadership to do and they never can. At voicing the absolute absurdity and hypocrisy so when we tune in it helps us feel like we’re not going crazy. The first episode with the Biden age thing was very disappointing because it’s such a tired and lazy topic - there were so many other things he could have addressed about Biden. That many of us who love and appreciate Biden would like said out loud. How he is not the strong and innovative leader we need for the next 4 years who can go out every day and battle MAGA - the way Trump grossly but effectively does for his party. But the second episode - he was back and it was cathartic
Right. Bcuz the notion that all opinions deserve to be given oxygen and a platform is ridiculous. Especially when the opinion is based on obvious delusion and lies.
Spot on. There’s “hearing out both sides” of an argument and then there’s just basic red line shit, like Kanye West for the example. His stans run around the internet screeching and whining about how everyone “hates” Kanye “because of some political disagreements” but it’s like… um, no. This isn’t simple political disagreement. The reason I will never support that man isn’t because he has conservative values or views. It is because he is an actual, literal Nazi. There is no “both sides” and “meeting in the middle” when it comes to Nazism, white supremacy, transphobia, homophobia, racism, xenophobia - all the phobias and -isms. This used to be a country that was united in its opposition to these ideas… but now? It’s truly scary shit out there.
I've met several unpleasant people whose idea of conversation is always telling stories about how other people failed to LIVE UP TO HIS STANDARDS and how "Cleverly and meanly" he corrected them. They have no idea how ugly their habit of sneering self-congratulation is, like guys who think it makes them look better to badmouth the women they dated.
It's just narcissism, really common in society especially among successful people... Success have very close ties to narcissism and whatever one might think of Tucker, he's in fact extremely successful. Success can also be something as simple as being born with good genetics aka. being attractive. In today's society when everyone is a celebrity(in their own bubble) narcissism have reached extreme heights. I mean I'm just average or perhaps even slightly below average looking, yet i managed to surround myself with people(by using the internet) who all desired me physically in my 20's, it didn't really turn me into a narcissist since i used to have horrible self-esteem(the reason why i hanged out with such a crowd to begin with). So yeah, a person with normal self-esteem would under such circumstances be at risk to not only overestimating their looks but also develop pathological narcissism. Same thing happens when it comes to ideas, if you only surround yourself with agreeable people... you seem like the wittiest person in the world. When it comes to successful people, they tend to more often then not be surrounded by people who adores, admires or celebrates them... even if those people in reality can't even stand that person. Since no one tells them "no, your attitude sucks" they turn more and more vile and toxic, often they also see any negative remarks on their looks, behaviors or even statements as something extremely offensive. It's a bit #notall, on these things, but it's extremely common. Hence they rather talk about others then themselves when it comes to negative things, but also only themselves when it comes to positive things.
We're not stuck in 2016. You're forgetting that Jon Stewart's last Daily Show was in August 2015 on the night of the first republican debate when Jeb Bush was still leading the polls. He wasn't there for the election. He wasn't there for Trump. Having him be here for the 2024 election is precisely the opposite of what happened in 2016.
Meanwhile, Trump's henchmen, soulless people, are invoking God. Trump said recently, "THEY try to shame Christians, try to shame us. I'm a proud Christian." Yeah, no Jon, Christian nationalism won't be survived.
And in the meantime he walked the walk, took it to Congress to stand up for 9/11 first responders. It comes through that he’s not just in it for the TV gig.
His possible influence is negated by his both sides-ism this time around. Not taking a moral stand on an ethical issue is exactly how we got here. But no seriously our predicament is sooo hilarious, let's all gather around and laugh about the fact that we're being boiled like newts, it's soooo funny! For $$$ Thanks Comedy Central! /s *vomits*
Just stop leaving out any mention of the positive things about the Biden Administration. Trump is 2 months older than I am and not showing the differences in the two will get us Trump again and if that happens Jon Stewart will be part of the reason. We ended up with Trump because of all the idiots who think Hillary and Trump are the same so lets just not vote or vote 3rd party. POINT OUT THE DAMN DIFFERENCES IN EVERY PROGRAM. WE KNOW THEY ARE BOTH OLD AND ONE HAS ALWAYS HAD A PROBLEM WITH GAFFS AND THE OTHER ONE HAS BEEN A CONMAN ALL HIS LIFE.
People keep writing this and honestly isn’t it close enough. I’m sure he’s referring to that era with Trump coming loudly and prominently on the scene and the very similar attacks against Hillary. It seems like two different eras - before Trump and after Trump.
It's not Biden's age that we should ignore, it's that many media people are ignoring what Biden's has done for the American people and Trump's failures.
Resentment is a common theme with white wing Republicans. More reflection on self improvement rather than blame others for your failures might be a good start to unify this great nation.
OMFG...that jingle about 'jon got into another twitter fight' literally made me laugh so hard, people were concerned... LOLOL. Please make this a regular bit...I wanna hear that jingle every episode, forever. LOLOLOL
I listened in the car on the way home and laughed so much that I had to watch this video to SEE Jon's reaction, and also listen to the Jam of the Summer.
I mean, listen I could not be more excited for Jon Stewart to be back doing his show. I'm Gen Z, but I heard about Jon Stewart a bunch when I was a kid. The most influential comedian in politics. I've been watching John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, and Sam B as an adult, but I never got to know Jon Stewart because I was too young when we was around to be any kind of interested in politics. But now! Now I get to see him make jokes on current events and it's like a secret wish I had has come true. All to say, he left a legacy and there's an informed gen z who is really loving his return as well.
Yay! :) He was not at all his best on the first episode (not sure why?) but the second episode was more like he never went away. And he was doing this at a time when no one else was and there wasn’t social media where you could go for relief from all the lies, hypocrisy and absurdity. Everyone else you mentioned is good but Jon Stewart is brilliant. And when he interviews hypocritical or hateful people there is no one better at showing exactly who those people are. There’s a clip of him debating “gun rights” with a Republican legislator and it was the master of all master classes. So thankful for him!
@tanja0411 Well yeah, and of course the reason I mentioned those 3 is because they were all correspondents for jon stewart. They all worked under him before going off and making their own shows. Like, they're part of his legacy, too.
@@trycethomas939 I don’t understand your reply. Of course they are and I didn’t say they weren’t? I’m just saying no one does it as well as Jon Stewart, which seems pretty obvious given his reputation and numbers. @tanja0411 Oh, I was just giving the extra fun fact that they all worked for him, that's all. All you said was they were all great, and I agree, but I was like... maybe she doesn't know. So I will share this fact. Haha because they're all political comentary comedians. It's easy to compare them without knowing they all worked together. Anyways... that's all. Haha

I think it’s time for me to get offline and go on a hike. 🙇🏼♀️ Cheers to Jon and that super talented crew and hopefully lots of great Daily Show episodes to come!! Have a great day:)
Jon is right, most people are not tuned in, everyone thinks Joe Biden is too old, but he's the option, and to choose between him and Trump is not even a contest. Everyone knows who Trump is this time, that's the biggest difference.
I can’t stand Trump but people with a moral compass can’t vote for a war monger who is funding a gen0cide! Vote for Jill Stein who has a moral compass! Hand both the Dems and Republicans their a$$es for only serving corporations and not the people!! You will lose if you push this “Biden is the only option” nonsense.

Potential use for AI movies is education. I am an ESL teacher, and being able to make short instructional videos for listening comprehension is amazing.
I don’t think people were mad at Jon Stewart for criticizing Biden. I think they were mad because there are so many more important things to talk about thank Bidens age that he did NOT talk about… like the potential end of democracy.
In fairness, the two go hand in hand. I suspect in Jon's view the underlying message to his satire is, "Really, this is the best we've got to be the stalwart defender of Democracy...?"
But the thing is, people are talking about his age, and it's not just Republican propaganda. Biden does come across as a bit doddery, trying to ignore that fact is not going to make it go away. IMHO Jon Stewart was absolutely right, it's up to President Biden to get out there and prove to the voters that he is still sharp. I really hope Stewart's comments have given the President's PR team a kick in the butt.
@@Lennybird91 Honestly I think he's the best we've got - maybe because of his age. He has relationships with literally every world leader; there won't even be a moment of pause to figure things out; and he's already shown he's capable of getting more done than any recent president.
@@shantaya-peace I think of all our qualifying political figures we could definitely find someone with better cognitive faculties, less overall risk of mortality, and a fairly significant political network. The president's most important job is foreign policy. Biden is by fa the most experienced democrat, and prob politician in general in this field. I am a big biden supporter but I do think his down side and upside is that he is kinda an emotional person.
I’m voting for President Biden. Democrats have many strong Senators who will be ready to go for President in 2028. Vote Democratic across the ballot. 💙💙💙💙
Biden has very competent people all around him. If they see him actually slipping in coherent thoughts and suggestions, I’m sure the guardrails are there. Besides, I think his biggest problem is his stutter and his efforts to smooth it over. His ideas and policies are rock solid.
My biggest fear with how advanced AI is becoming, or just tech in general, is that the FIRST two things people always use new tech for is sex and crime. What happens when people start producing AI child p*rn? The "I know it when I see it" doctrine can only go so far when a defense attorney can accurately say that no child was hurt in the making of the video. And we ALL know laws are about 30 years too slow to deal with this stuff...
Boomer here. It isn't that you or Jon or folks shouldn't bring up Joe's age but all the negative emphasis on dementia makes out that all of us are dementia patients and physically infirm. I've heard podcasters say that past a certain age, all old people smell. What's the hardest about being old is the attitudes of younger people about what we are capable of. Elders used to be respected in societies. Having an older president could bring attention to the plight of older folks in America. How mentally and physically capable people are not living out the American dream of good retirement and excellent health care. I can't afford all the dental care I need. That doesn't have anything to do with dementia or how I look as an old person.
I agree 💯…however… with all of Biden’s blunders and obvious memory lapses in public, it is a valid concern. He looks and sounds frail. Doesn’t mean all people his age are. Look at how the Queen of England was able to perform until her last year or two. But he seems to be in a decline. And he promised he’d only serve one term and then not run again. The DNC has screwed up again, but they love a war monger! So don’t be surprised when he loses. You could vote for Jill Stein and hand both traditional parties their a$$es but people let the parties control them… especially the Dems!
What I didn't like about Jon Stewarts first show was he refused to point out any positive things about Biden. They may both be old, like me, but they are very different and the reason nothing is being done is on the GOP.
Not perfected yet but AI has a dark potential none of us are paying close enough attention to. It needs to be regulated and we should take more time to test any AI. I blame social media for radicalizing and polarizing the US. Social media was the start of AI.

What irked me the wrong way in Stewart’s monologue wasn’t the age references. It was that he stated that there still be a country no matter who wins. As if one of the two isn’t (quite literally) on trial for his attempts to end the country. He made it seem like it didn’t matter who won. It does matter and if he didn’t meant that, maybe he should’ve phrased it differently.
I think people need to start taking much more seriously the possibility that AI will become good enough to replace creative work. The surface has barely been scratched.
There’s a debate going on in the scientific circles related to AI about what is creativity, and personally I don’t think any AI will get to that point being driven by statistical rules and not intuition. BUT what OP said is not wrong because to replace creative work you just need to lower the consumers standards
Totally agree. But I think being concerned about originality or creativity is missing an issue: a lot of the time folks are spending on the internet is consuming short form videos that tickle our dopamine production system and have no deeper meaning. They don't need to be creative, or original, or real to capture views and sell ads. a huge number of online content creators are going to lose their jobs when the mighty algorithm gets retooled to focus on free content from the platform's AI generator.
@tt your 'meh' is a high-level philosophical argument though. Practical level, it will kill tens of thousands of production jobs. Disney already caught making AI extras; Tyler Perry killed a new $800 million soundstage because Sora will generate backdrops and you won't need carpenters, painters, etc. - that's within the last 9 days! We're talking potentially hundreds of thousands of creative jobs and BILLIONS of investment in creatives, gone.

22:59 gen-zer checking in- I've been watching the daily show since I was probably 5 with my grandpa... I definitely had no idea what was happening but we watched it so much I thought Jon Stewart was a relative or something 😂 having him back is such a blessing!!!
AI person here. The news summary has been around a long time in txt domain and it does fairly well. It uses information from published articles and aligns info to identify key parts. It needed other text to generate its own. I cannot imagine that the video generator is so far removed from this approach. I think given the polarization in politics, we could end up with some really weird videos. 😂
I´ve watced almost all of Tina's interviews because I'm fascinated with her backstory and the stories she tells in her book. Great interview Jon, I've been hoping y'all would interview her.
Sure Biden is old. I think the conversation needs to focus on age not as negative, but the positive of what it means in Biden’s case. His years of developing relationships in politics in America and in the world. Experience is valuable.
If the other candidate were young, it would be a valid argument. The Orange Fuehrer is only 3 years younger though, so it’s not. Jon Stewart did say they’re both old.
Yes, years to develop relationships so that he can use it to fund a gen0cide and try to squash free speech. The fact that so many Dens can stomach voting for him scares me. I’ll be voting for Jill Stein again. The only one with a moral compass!
No, John, I yell at Maggie Haberman because the fact that she’s never apologized to Michelle Wolf shows what little integrity she has. So when she goes on CNN and talks about all this stuff her supposed sources tell her, I have no reason to believe that anyone is talking to her.
Hahahha my headphones started to gradually lower the volume about midway through, and I legit forgot a moment though it was the editors making fun of John ranting on twitter and pretending to end the episode
Like every narcissist, Tucker has “the world against him”, and he’s being put on it to take revenge…will never get it that nodody likes a person that makes it all about himself…
Excellent show, as always. Thank you for bringing the "out of the mainstream" voices and personalities out of the shadows. Hearing and seeing Tina Nguyen spill the beans on the "guts and feathers" of the Trump apparatus was enlightening. In the past, I've been really cynical about the defectors from MAGAt world. She's caused me reflect on my automatic reaction to them. Again, thank you.
I got swept up into this as well in college (class of ‘00). I too, was interested in journalism…I did not attend a camp, but I remember a conference I went to in San Diego that was all about training us to be conservative journalists … And I remember how exactly they would explain there is no conservative voice in the media, and we needed to gear up and that’s exactly what they were doing… But yes, we met other people and bonded and was such a great time… it was extremely well organized and well thought out as I think about it - they were organized and effective … I’m long since separated from all of that including any affiliation with the GOP… So yes, I totally know what she’s talking about (Young America’s Foundation still sends me their God awful magazine..).
I was upset at Stewart’s approach not because he mocked Biden’s age, but because in many occasions he put biden and trump on the same level. That was disgusting and reckless. And I’m not even american
I turned Stewart off and won't listen to him again. It's hard enough to contemplate another Trump term without hearing somebody try to make Biden seem just as foolish and crooked.
Yup. The big difference between Biden & Trump is that if Biden is elected, citizens will always have the chance to elect a new president & administration in a few years. People will retain all their democratic rights. If Trump gets elected, there's no guarantee of any of that, & it's very likely that they will lose those rights. MAGA wants a dictatorship.
@@annakingry9157Biden is a war monger supporting a gen0cide. So I don’t actually know that he’s any better than Trump, they belong in side by side prison cells.

Thanks for sharing your takes on Sora! Unfortunately, I think Max frequently underestimates the negative impacts that AI is going to have on a variety of industries from a labor perspective. I believe Max is coming from a very hopeful place, but at the end of the day companies will use these tools to trim labor wherever possible. While creative fields might not be totally replaced by AI, the impact seems comparable to farming and automation (albeit coming at a much more rapid pace). If an AI can generate a decent music video, show poster, ad script, product photography, how many entry level roles are going to be replaced? The overall need for creative labor will quickly be reduced as AI gets more powerful, and sadly corporations are not going to care if that puts a lot of people out of work. We might laugh at Spotify's bad DJ algorithm today, but what Jon talks about of an AI reporter tailored to your tastes is not too far ahead in the future.
As a person with invisible disability who has an awful lot to offer but needs support to offer it, I suggest that we do away with the idea of basing success on "merit and ability" as if those two things go together.
Friend, your words really spoke to me this morning as I sat here having a pity party. Although my disability is more visible, I totally relate to feeling like I have more to give than my body will allow. Sending positive thoughts your way ❤
Merit and ability have their place. It’s the winner takes all format that’s cheating us of an intellectually richer outcome that you allude to. There is a growing exclusivity and irresponsibility among the topside that’s very dangerous. It is literally choke pointing the culture.
It’s always like this with pretty much every democratic candidate. Some “generic democrat” they always say would be better. But there’s never any other name that floats to the top. In 2016 “nobody” wanted Hillary but she easily won the primary. I believe if Comey didn’t make a statement about an investigation the turned up absolutely nothing a week before the election, she’d have won. And she narrowly lost the election. Same thing with Gore. There is no serious challenger to Biden, and the democrats would be insane to throw away the incumbent advantage. Not to mention Biden has raised over 50 million already while trump has raised something like 23 million.
46:25 Parenthetical quick tip on how to criticize Israel: criticize Netanyahu and Likud, not "Israel". In your criticism, always replace the word "Israel" with "Likud" or "Netanyahu". It indemnifies you against bad-faith accusations of being anti-Israel or "pro-terrorism", and it has the added benefit of also being a more accurate representation of your actual opinion (assuming you are not, in fact, an anti-Israel radical). It is Likud and Netanyahu who are refusing to pursue a two-state solution, actively escalating violence in the region as explicit policy, and deliberately antagonizing Palestinians and the Arab world at large for a cynical political benefit at the cost of Israeli national security. Maybe you think that this is a distinction without a difference, since Israel is a democracy and presumably Likud represents the prevailing sentiment of the Israeli people, but even if that were true, who cares? It doesn't do you or your argument any good to stipulate to that, outright. And it is ultimately irrelevant...the fact remains peace is not achievable with Netanyahu and Likud in power...there is no need to self-sabotage your own argument by allowing opponents to mischaracterize your disdain for Netanyahu as disdain for Israel and Israelis, altogether.
Well, there are some pretty messed up people in that country as well. And it is the population that allowed someone like that to gain power, and allowing them to continue to have power. You don't have to worry about being identified from something. If the people who are criticizing you with support or ignore a genocide. You can just ignore bad people and idiots. Nobody cares what they think about you.
Absolutely. Exactly. "Mr security " has spaffed away $billions of US aid after insulting the president. No security on a vulnerable point, no guards, no alarms, no camera & monitor, no plan for when the inevitable happens. I have more security for my house than he had for his country & it cost way less than $38 billion. Forbids 2 state solution & keeps building on the west bank. US should give no help if bb & likud are in charge. He's just another ftrump.

Yes Joe is old, but he is neither insane nor a criminal. Trump is both of those - and he too is old. The choice is clear. I’m sure Joe would rather be retired and on a beach somewhere but here we are. Let’s get the Dems across the line first in the interests of democracy and sort out Joe’s retirement plan then.
If we're doing a Jon Is Smart But Not So Bright continuing segment, can I nominate the time in Terminally Online where he seemed genuinely pikachu face that the warm reception he, as a good-looking cis man, gets at a gay bar might not translate to a lesbian bar? It was the most wholesome thing.
I've been saying this for 10 years. When a person or a computer is able to create live-action-passable video and audio, sculpting and clothing human characters and fine-tuning individual voices, then real-life actors are out of business. A.I. generated characters will have fan bases. Those characters will have Instagram and Facebook profiles. This guy isn't thinking clearly. It won't be "cheap stock art" when you have someone behind a computer screen really putting time and effort on this stuff. This is a new form of art. They will have ownership over these characters, patent their likenesses and voices, and act as their agent. Look what I just wrote. I'm already thinking of one of these characters as a 'they' and not an 'it'. The awards shows will just be virtual.
My grandpa was born in 1909 and passed away in 2004, he was mentally all there 👍, his body was shutting down from falling down and a few days before he was helped up.
Carlson is a clear example of why money can not buy hapiness. Think of how unhappy you have to be to be born on 3rd base and carry so much personal resentment. He doesnt have as much as his audience but way more than a wealthy person should.
This is so true- most people are just trying to get to work on time. They aren’t reading and listening to all this political stuff… Which is kinda our only hope - hopefully they will show up and vote for the decent human being.
I’ve lived and worked overseas for about 6 years. People Hee are actually shocked at how obsessed the electorate is about Biden’s age, especially with the job he’s doing. It is not that they don’t think there are challenges with age, but they look at it very differently, and overwhelmingly positively. Experience, competency, etc. I have to say that it has completely affected my views on getting older. The older you are, the more respect you are afforded. It’s refreshing. I wish more Americans could experience it.
Just a pet peeve - I intensely dislike the term “Bernie Bros.” Not only does it sound dismissive and imply that his supporters were juvenile, but it leaves out the large contingent of women who were, and are, Bernie supporters. I’m a woman in my 60’s and I’ve been a Bernie fan for decades.
Seriously savor these intro. discussions between Max & Jon-which meld psychology, sociology, self-reflection, political calculations, emerging technology...and how these intermix. Educational & entertaining content :)
Yes, I was joking. It was just the first thing that came to mind when Jon blamed his kid for him posting that on Twitter. Of course, what Cruz did was not even comparable, they just basically used the same excuse. I should have included a "lol" or something, sorry my attempt at humor fell flat.

Great to see people, esp younger like Tina Nguyen, with enough awareness and critical thinking to see past their environment (family, cultural norms...school & affiliations, traditions, religion, etc.) and somewhat develop their own moral compass & independent thinking. As she's leveraged her experience and writing skills into a book and press coverage, I hope it helps others think critically and form their own values and guiding principles.

That was a fantastic interview with Tina Nguyen. Also, I enjoyed the discussion of Jon's Twitter beef and how he basically blamed it on his kids. Pulling a Ted Cruz on that one. "I didn't want to go to Cancun during a statewide emergency, but my daughters were cold and wanted to take a trip."
Lots and lots of Gen-Xers love Jon Stewart and the daily show. I am elated he is back for this election season. He encapsulates the perfect mix of rage, incredulity and amusement I feel on a daily basis.

Hate to sound like a negative Nancy, but it is likely that Tina got into political conservativism because of her parents and older relatives. The vietnamese community is the lone asian republican stronghold in the usa and a lot of vietnamese people in Tina's parents' generation are extremely loyal to the republican party. Yes, she mentioned that she got politically active thanks to a guy she dated, but most likely she was already conservative before way dating him (but was not politically active prior to meeting him). Very likely she was not a liberal or left-leaning centrist before dating that guy like what all of the non-asians interviewing her seem to think. [The phenomenon of a liberal or progressive woman becoming a conservative woman because of her conservative boyfriend or husband is not a thing in asian communities. That phenomenon is mostly a thing among cis white women attractied to men.]
FYI - I was in middle GA 2 yrs ago and was approached by Bircher folks at a festival. My mother had to tell me what nuts they were when she was young. They are on a comeback and recruiting.
Every democrat should be forced to listen to this. Incredibly well balanced and cathartic discussion. And that’s before we even get to the great interview!
I'm grateful for the discussion of Jon Stewart's work and what matters/doesn't matter about what political shows are saying at this moment. As a progressive who is flat out terrified at the moment, it's soothing to be reminded that undecided voters aren't listening or reading right now, so every single soundbite doesn't matter.
If I were to mention Biden’s age I would preference that I would still vote for him even if he were in a wheelchair. You totally don’t mention his whole staff that is supporting him. Focus on what his team has done under his guidance. You sell him short. Republicans are always in lockstep in their support for dear leader, not so much with the Democrats.
What appeals Jon Stewart most to me (as someone in his mid-30s) is his lack of being intimidated by others, or feeling the need to either attack or pander like so many others in our media landscape. He doesn't hide who and what he supports, but that doesn't stop him from holding those people accountable. He did it with Obama and he's doing it with Biden. And just because Trump is infinitely worse, that is not an automatic "Get Out of Jail Free" card.
So you know, I follow you and actively spread our message. You're helping me discover who my "true" friends are - those who aren't have quit speaking to me.

I haven't seen this much dehumanizing since my last Trump rally
Both Biden and Trump are old. But, Biden has decades of experience as a politician. Trump does not. The country doesn't need a showman to run it. It needs an experienced, qualified American who believes in the Constitution and the oath of office.
Trump is a masthead for a authoritarian movement that’s swallowed the Republican Party. He wants to trash the Constitution to make American 1940 nazi Germany.
And has great people working for him instead of Trump's WWW know-nothing fruitcakes.
Now go talk to everyone you know who is a trump supporter or non-voter and listen to why they won't support Biden because if we don't figure that out then we may not have enough new voters to win this battle! We are on the same team but we are not acting like it and that must change if democracy is going to move forward.

And cathartic to hear some come out and call Tucker a d*%^

True. But also every positive community works like that.

We aren't a cult so I'm not following your point?
I’d even refer to it as grooming

No kidding! Isn't everybody?

Yeah. They should really stop blaming society for their problems and take some personal responsibility.

All to say, he left a legacy and there's an informed gen z who is really loving his return as well.

Fox needs to be regulated. Sinclair Broadcast Group needs to be regulated. Congressional liars on media need to be sued for defamation.
I heard Tesla self drive research was the start of it, but it sure jumped over quickly to where it could do most damage.

Exactly the opposite. Left wing fosters ha te... but *pretends* to be, "inclusive." Disingenuous. Right wingers are exactly who they are. Leftists tend to put on a show. All TALK, very little action. Some call it, "virtue signaling." I'm not a fan of the term. But it fits.

Which will mean that something under a thousand people will be setting the standards for the behaviours that keep a civilization going.
The Twitter Recounting is making me want to join Friends of the Pod just so I Too can write Nuanced Political Takes and get feedback. The struggle is real
Jon is successful because he's the best!
Never is a pretty strong word to say. We NEVER thought it would be this good.
No, John, I yell at Maggie Haberman because the fact that she’s never apologized to Michelle Wolf shows what little integrity she has. So when she goes on CNN and talks about all this stuff her supposed sources tell her, I have no reason to believe that anyone is talking to her.
Trump apologist.
I’m hoping that Jon Stewart is the one who will live forever or at least until I’m gone!
I agree . I am more satisfied when there is a news anchor or personality I connect with and respect .
Very interesting interview and conversation. Thank you.
Tina, thank you for your courage in fighting back against these weirdos!
I was upset at Stewart’s approach not because he mocked Biden’s age, but because in many occasions he put biden and trump on the same level. That was disgusting and reckless. And I’m not even american
Good point .
Well said
I turned Stewart off and won't listen to him again.
Really like the Jon Stewart analysis- and avoiding the descent into doomerism is why I like y’all’s show.
Liked the AI analysis too
Spot on about discussing THE topic of Biden’s age. Faux News is always talking about it and for us to run an away from discussing how he is running the economy, what he has done for fellow Americans and how capable he is, is absolutely vital! Keep up the commentary!
And how about the fact that he’s supporting a gen0cide?
We dislike Haberman because she sat on evidence of trump's crimes for a book deal.
Naaa...we dislike her because she has resting b face
Excellent points, Jon, about the upcoming election and meeting people where they are. Thank you for that advice.
80% of the people I talk to don't want Trump or Biden as president that's the biggest problem we have is neither one of them want to step down
It’s always like this with pretty much every democratic candidate.
You can put on ruby colored glasses all you want about AI having ethically controls, but the greedy and nefarious actors will absolutely chip away at the seal on this Pandora's box.
What does it take to get a different...perspective on here? Did I really just hear a younger generation of white guys complaining about an older generation of white guys?

Great Podcast.
Tina's parents are Definitely Proud of her accomplishments!
As Cubans exiles from a communist country do…go to the opposite spectrum and become Republican reactionaries.

Does it concern you that tons of people ARE paying attention and can’t stomach either a treasonous criminal or a gen0cidal criminal?
If I were to mention Biden’s age I would preference that I would still vote for him even if he were in a wheelchair. You totally don’t mention his whole staff that is supporting him. Focus on what his team has done under his guidance. You sell him short. Republicans are always in lockstep in their support for dear leader, not so much with the Democrats.
Lawrence O’Donnell did a great piece on this I think.
I've shown clips of the new Jon Stewart stuff to my college students and they like it. Him coming back is comforting, Favs is right.
So you know, I follow you and actively spread our message. You're helping me discover who my "true" friends are - those who aren't have quit speaking to me.
