@@ClaudiaRichmann Exactly. That first show was beyond disappointing because it was so tired and basic. I don’t want Biden to run again - not because of his age or lack of ability to govern - but because he’s not the leader we need to slay MAGA and the right-wing. I wish Jon Stewart would have talked about creating a job description for a president or just something creative. Talk about how being a leader means you have the energy to get out there every day and go on the offense with messaging. That we need someone authentic and innovative to reframe issues and build new systems. So for him to go with age?
But - then he felt like his old self last week with Tucker. His stans run around the internet screeching and whining about how everyone “hates” Kanye “because of some political disagreements” but it’s like… um, no. This isn’t simple political disagreement. The reason I will never support that man isn’t because he has conservative values or views. It is because he is an actual, literal Nazi.
There is no “both sides” and “meeting in the middle” when it comes to Nazism, white supremacy, transphobia, homophobia, racism, xenophobia - all the phobias and -isms. This used to be a country that was united in its opposition to these ideas… but now? It’s truly scary shit out there.

It's just narcissism, really common in society especially among successful people... Success have very close ties to narcissism and whatever one might think of Tucker, he's in fact extremely successful. Success can also be something as simple as being born with good genetics aka. being attractive. In today's society when everyone is a celebrity(in their own bubble) narcissism have reached extreme heights.
I mean I'm just average or perhaps even slightly below average looking, yet i managed to surround myself with people(by using the internet) who all desired me physically in my 20's, it didn't really turn me into a narcissist since i used to have horrible self-esteem(the reason why i hanged out with such a crowd to begin with). So yeah, a person with normal self-esteem would under such circumstances be at risk to not only overestimating their looks but also develop pathological narcissism. Same thing happens when it comes to ideas, if you only surround yourself with agreeable people... you seem like the wittiest person in the world.
When it comes to successful people, they tend to more often then not be surrounded by people who adores, admires or celebrates them... even if those people in reality can't even stand that person. Since no one tells them "no, your attitude sucks" they turn more and more vile and toxic, often they also see any negative remarks on their looks, behaviors or even statements as something extremely offensive. It's a bit #notall, on these things, but it's extremely common. Hence they rather talk about others then themselves when it comes to negative things, but also only themselves when it comes to positive things.

What happens when people start producing AI child p*rn? Boomer here. It isn't that you or Jon or folks shouldn't bring up Joe's age but all the negative emphasis on dementia makes out that all of us are dementia patients and physically infirm. I've heard podcasters say that past a certain age, all old people smell. What's the hardest about being old is the attitudes of younger people about what we are capable of. Elders used to be respected in societies. Having an older president could bring attention to the plight of older folks in America. How mentally and physically capable people are not living out the American dream of good retirement and excellent health care. I can't afford all the dental care I need. That doesn't have anything to do with dementia or how I look as an old person.

Unfortunately, I think Max frequently underestimates the negative impacts that AI is going to have on a variety of industries from a labor perspective. I believe Max is coming from a very hopeful place, but at the end of the day companies will use these tools to trim labor wherever possible. While creative fields might not be totally replaced by AI, the impact seems comparable to farming and automation (albeit coming at a much more rapid pace). If an AI can generate a decent music video, show poster, ad script, product photography, how many entry level roles are going to be replaced? The overall need for creative labor will quickly be reduced as AI gets more powerful, and sadly corporations are not going to care if that puts a lot of people out of work. We might laugh at Spotify's bad DJ algorithm today, but what Jon talks about of an AI reporter tailored to your tastes is not too far ahead in the future.

46:25 Parenthetical quick tip on how to criticize Israel: criticize Netanyahu and Likud, not "Israel". In your criticism, always replace the word "Israel" with "Likud" or "Netanyahu". It indemnifies you against bad-faith accusations of being anti-Israel or "pro-terrorism", and it has the added benefit of also being a more accurate representation of your actual opinion (assuming you are not, in fact, an anti-Israel radical). It is Likud and Netanyahu who are refusing to pursue a two-state solution, actively escalating violence in the region as explicit policy, and deliberately antagonizing Palestinians and the Arab world at large for a cynical political benefit at the cost of Israeli national security.
Maybe you think that this is a distinction without a difference, since Israel is a democracy and presumably Likud represents the prevailing sentiment of the Israeli people, but even if that were true, who cares? It doesn't do you or your argument any good to stipulate to that, outright. And it is ultimately irrelevant...the fact remains peace is not achievable with Netanyahu and Likud in power...there is no need to self-sabotage your own argument by allowing opponents to mischaracterize your disdain for Netanyahu as disdain for Israel and Israelis, altogether.

A.I. generated characters will have fan bases. Those characters will have Instagram and Facebook profiles. This guy isn't thinking clearly. It won't be "cheap stock art" when you have someone behind a computer screen really putting time and effort on this stuff. This is a new form of art. They will have ownership over these characters, patent their likenesses and voices, and act as their agent. Look what I just wrote. I'm already thinking of one of these characters as a 'they' and not an 'it'. The awards shows will just be virtual.

Carlson is a clear example of why money can not buy hapiness. Think of how unhappy you have to be to be born on 3rd base and carry so much personal resentment. He doesnt have as much as his audience but way more than a wealthy person should.

I’ve lived and worked overseas for about 6 years. People Hee are actually shocked at how obsessed the electorate is about Biden’s age, especially with the job he’s doing. It is not that they don’t think there are challenges with age, but they look at it very differently, and overwhelmingly positively. Experience, competency, etc. I have to say that it has completely affected my views on getting older. The older you are, the more respect you are afforded. It’s refreshing. I wish more Americans could experience it.

Just a pet peeve - I intensely dislike the term “Bernie Bros.” Not only does it sound dismissive and imply that his supporters were juvenile, but it leaves out the large contingent of women who were, and are, Bernie supporters. I’m a woman in my 60’s and I’ve been a Bernie fan for decades.

Great to see people, esp younger like Tina Nguyen, with enough awareness and critical thinking to see past their environment (family, cultural norms...school & affiliations, traditions, religion, etc.) and somewhat develop their own moral compass & independent thinking. As she's leveraged her experience and writing skills into a book and press coverage, I hope it helps others think critically and form their own values and guiding principles.

Hate to sound like a negative Nancy, but it is likely that Tina got into political conservativism because of her parents and older relatives. The vietnamese community is the lone asian republican stronghold in the usa and a lot of vietnamese people in Tina's parents' generation are extremely loyal to the republican party. Yes, she mentioned that she got politically active thanks to a guy she dated, but most likely she was already conservative before way dating him (but was not politically active prior to meeting him). Very likely she was not a liberal or left-leaning centrist before dating that guy like what all of the non-asians interviewing her seem to think. [The phenomenon of a liberal or progressive woman becoming a conservative woman because of her conservative boyfriend or husband is not a thing in asian communities. That phenomenon is mostly a thing among cis white women attractied to men.]

If I were to mention Biden’s age I would preference that I would still vote for him even if he were in a wheelchair. You totally don’t mention his whole staff that is supporting him. Focus on what his team has done under his guidance. You sell him short. Republicans are always in lockstep in their support for dear leader, not so much with the Democrats.

What appeals Jon Stewart most to me (as someone in his mid-30s) is his lack of being intimidated by others, or feeling the need to either attack or pander like so many others in our media landscape. He doesn't hide who and what he supports, but that doesn't stop him from holding those people accountable. He did it with Obama and he's doing it with Biden. And just because Trump is infinitely worse, that is not an automatic "Get Out of Jail Free" card.
