I had the privilege of visiting it a few years ago, just before I graduated High School. Hearing Trump talk about wanting to turn Guantanamo into a 30,000 bed "prison camp", being run by military personnel, without really knowing who is being sent there and for what crime, makes me shiver. And as you said: We don't know if or when he decides to deport American citizens to Guantanamo Bay. I just cannot stop thinking about the parallels of Dachau and Trump's vision of Guantanamo Bay. I can really just appeal to you and every other American: Be careful with stuff like this. This can go sideways very, very quickly. Especially with Trump and his administration.

Military and civilian radio frequencies and insufficient atc, I’d say the dumpsters firing and defunding and freezing was the lead weight that broke the professionals back, and now he wants to blame it on black pilots, women pilots .. Social Security is for people with disabilities also not just seniors. I am a full time caregiver of my two adult children who have Autism. My son who is mentally like a toddler has SSI my daughter does not because, and I quote why she gets denied, "she can push carts at Publix or something" yet no one to date has given her a job and I can't work full time because all my time goes to taking care of my kids. We already live in desperate poverty. If they took away SSI, Medicaid and Food Stamps they will literally kill us. I am a 5th generation American where almost all of the men in my family have served in the military and fought in America's wars. My grandfather was wounded fighting the fascists in WW2 in Europe and was honorably discharged. He loved this country and lived a life of service even in his civilian life. It was my experience that I had to be ten times better than my white male associates to be considered equal to them. Other female and minority workers had the same experience. When it came to education, we had MBAs, while our white male counterparts usually didn't. These issues with FAS and the ATCs are hitting close to home, far from DCA. In the San Francisco Bay area, our busy private airport in San Carlos, CA will have NO air traffic controllers bu next week. Pur busy small airport is in the air traffic area of SFO and pilots are directed by controllers in both sites. The FAA doesn't directly staff San Carlos, its contracted out. The contract was just changed to an Oklahoma company which pays their controllers MUCH less and these folks can't afford the cost of living here- so they have all resigned. The FAA has been asked to cover this airport until something can be worked out, but knowing the current administrations attitude towards our state, I won't hold my breath. Afraid to see what will happen when SFO is fogged in, storms arrive , etc etc...

Retired Airman, I saw the video and the atc comms. The media are saying the passenger jet crashed onto the helicopter when it was the other way round. Military and civilian radio frequencies and insufficient atc, I’d say the dumpsters firing and defunding and freezing was the lead weight that broke the professionals back, and now he wants to blame it on black pilots, women pilots .. WTF
I think they definitely need to reexamine how to handle that area because of how restricted the airspace is between the DC area and the Pentagon. There are so many things they need to look at before blaming anything.

My son who is mentally like a toddler has SSI my daughter does not because, and I quote why she gets denied, "she can push carts at Publix or something" yet no one to date has given her a job and I can't work full time because all my time goes to taking care of my kids. We already live in desperate poverty. If they took away SSI, Medicaid and Food Stamps they will literally kill us. I am a 5th generation American where almost all of the men in my family have served in the military and fought in America's wars. My grandfather was wounded fighting the fascists in WW2 in Europe and was honorably discharged. He loved this country and lived a life of service even in his civilian life. I am glad he is not alive to see what is happening in this country that he fought and almost died for. It would break his spirit.

There's nothing firm yet. It's entirely possible a US military pilot trying to look out the window to find a plane with NVGs on just lost his altitude and went too high. There's any number of things that could cause the crash. Everyone needs to stop pointing fingers until the NTSB actually can investigate, and stop trying to score political points off of corpses.

It was my experience that I had to be ten times better than my white male associates to be considered equal to them. Other female and minority workers had the same experience. When it came to education, we had MBAs, while our white male counterparts usually didn't. We were constantly having to prove that we earned our jobs, that we didn't just get them because we were females or members of a minority group. It was always assumed that we didn't earn our positions. Trump isn't anything new. He's just allowing people to be more blatant about their prejudices.

These issues with FAS and the ATCs are hitting close to home, far from DCA. In the San Francisco Bay area, our busy private airport in San Carlos, CA will have NO air traffic controllers bu next week. Pur busy small airport is in the air traffic area of SFO and pilots are directed by controllers in both sites. The FAA doesn't directly staff San Carlos, its contracted out. The contract was just changed to an Oklahoma company which pays their controllers MUCH less and these folks can't afford the cost of living here- so they have all resigned. The FAA has been asked to cover this airport until something can be worked out, but knowing the current administrations attitude towards our state, I won't hold my breath. Afraid to see what will happen when SFO is fogged in, storms arrive , etc etc...
