@@vegacula I actually sat down a few months ago to come up with my top 20, and yeah, this one came up at #4. I didn't think it would be that high at first, but in retrospect it is absolutely deserved
Man, as a kid this video terrified me. But as an adult I kinda get it, while this seems to be about PTSD, I can relate to the feeling of wanting the craziness to end but it's just unrelenting.
One of my favorites from Metric!! Emily if you read this next time you go on tour in Austin I would love to hear this song!! Love you so much my favorite band die-hard. 🤘
Just saw stranger things. I think it is uncanny how similar Emily Haines and Winona Ryder look in combination with the wall-effect at 0:52. Wonderful show, wonderful band. probably no connection. haha
I'm playing the game Vampyr (which features... vampires in hospitals) and I can't help thinking of this song, so SO BE IT. It will play whenever I'm near Pembroke Hospital lol
@@Tori-di2cf Thanks! With a song called "Monster Hospital", and "please release me..." etc., I though "ward" made more sense. That, and somewhere at some point I read (or watched, can't remember. Would have been around 2006) that she wrote and recorded the lyric as "ward", but liked it as "war" also after seeing it transcribed incorrectly so many places. For all I know, she sings it as "war" now, seeing as the forever war seems to be a permanent fixture of US foreign policy now. Fun fact: the band is from Toronto, and the members are all very active in Canadian alt. rock, however the core group are all US nationals who all moved to Canada.
He encontrado muchos comentarios en varios de sus vídeos, en español. Y casi todos son de México. No se porque tienen mucho público aquí. Pero me da gusto ☺
This clips is actually inspired by the black-and-white psychological horror movie Repulsion (1965), about a woman who thinks she might not be alone in her apartment
One of the best rock & indi bands of the 21-st century. Emily ROCKS! It is the song i fell in love with Metric.
Me too
This song still Fking rips just as much as the day I first heard it.
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
God bless everyone and Jesus loves everyone
This is my fourth favourite song ever. It also happens to contain probably the best guitar riff ever.
What're your top 3 of this #4?
@@vegacula
1) "The Equinigma" by The Chronicles of Israfel
2) "Dump the Clip" by Army of the Pharaohs
3) "7/4 Shoreline" by Broken Social Scene
@@SirZapdos Dang, you have a list ready to go, that's admirable

Excellent song from a phenomenal album.
One of the greatest songs Pixies forgot to write. Thanks Metric for picking up the slack.
reminds me more of Garbage than the Pixies, particularly with the sampling use of another song which Garbage commonly also did in Version 2.0
Feels like the vocal melody is inspired with tones of Nirvana, love the energy!
Can't deny the chorus is inspired by "I Fought the Law" by The Clash
The instrumental reminds me a lot of the hives. Same energy
the pixies? Wowzers!
Who's listening in 2024 and forever??
This song should have over a million views.
There have been times when views have reset... maybe not for this video, though.
TRUTH!
God bless everyone and Jesus loves everyone
Did anyone else's awesome taste in music bring them here?
But of course
Who ever it was who decided to put this on the air Canada indie rock playlist.
You answered your own question
2022. Yaaaa
Did anyone else suck a massive flaccid cock before listening to this?
Stop, for the love of God.....love that line.

Hey 2018, enjoy your freedom because it won’t last.
Man, I love this whole Album..
Live it out, the best one they made.. so far..
So it took Vevo just 3 years to upload the music video (2009) but it took the actual record company 6 years (published on 2012) amazing.
Monetization was the motivating factor
Who's watching in 2023? Still amazing ❤
And still relevant :(
You two just made it a little less cool
Metric was one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
I watch In 3023!

Poor ol Bobby fuller ✊
holy fuck how am i just seeing this now even though i listened to this album on repeat since 2012? this is amazing and i relate to this so much!
This kind of reminds me of No Doubt meets The Hives. Very cool!
Live It Out is still their best lp. Like them all,but this one is the tops.
Man, this takes me back to the mid and late aughts in my college years, adored them so much and had this album.
I fought the war, but the war won!
I love this riff!!!
More music like this! This is one of my favorites
Always loved Metric.
Muchos años sin escuchar esta canción.
Me recuerda a mi pre-adolescencia.
Fantastic song heard this for the 1st time today while running ;-)

Rumor has it they're still listening to it today...
Who’s still going back to this one?! 11/22/2024
I heard this on conan in '05, been a fan since.
I fought against the war, then had 17 years of amnesia suddenly clear. Metric is special for momentum and positive healing vibes.
I have been in a Monster Hospital on many occasions. Good song.
PS4 nation + Metric?
Pure awesomeness. :D
From Brazil
Definitely one of Metric's better videos.
Just saw stranger things. I think it is uncanny how similar Emily Haines and Winona Ryder look in combination with the wall-effect at 0:52. Wonderful show, wonderful band. probably no connection. haha
It feels like Metric predicted whats happening right now with a Pandemic around the world, and what ends up in the Hospital. WHos listening in 2021?
I'm "This video lived on my MySpace" old.
Perfect rock song.
I love this video!! Emily is amazing.
Genius level work.
Great video love the a bomb with the riff.
Seeing Repulsion with the hands coming through the walls.

I've come a long way since I was a kid. I used to not even be able to watch this video, now I just need to cover 1 eye with my blankie
I fought the war... I fought the war but the war won - stop, for the love of God!...
The lyric is actually, "I fought the ward", but I've always liked it better as "war".
OMG! When did it start? With Russia, China, North Korea, who?
@@robertcaple5165 i like your interpretation. :)

Yeah me too. It's one of my favourite movies specifically for that reason.
