oil paintings is the reason why i got into learning painting. i'm more of an acrylic painter but oil paintings in my opinion are just beautiful to watch. the techniques, skills, the art works are just a delight to watch.
That is super cool! Do you think you'll ever transition to painting with oils from acrylics? A lot of what you learn from painting with acrylics will transfer to oils 😊
Thanks so much!! More oil videos are definitely coming! 🥰 I totally know what you mean about oils feeling more alive. I still have a big spot in my heart for gouache though haha
I love oil painting. I started with oil and then went to acrylic and then went to watercolor and wash. But oil will always be my first love. And I love seeing your paintings.
This is so beautiful. When some cut up oranges can make you want to run to paints you know it must be special. Love the oil videos! I oil paint as well, but I have been gouache obsessed this last year. It was like the quick drying oil painting that doesn't look like it has a plastic coating like acrylics. However... I have been craving to get back to my oils and it's going to be amazing getting to see you do more. Thank you for your videos and inspiration. Can you talk about the fan brush strokes at the end? It is such a beautiful touch!
As someone scared to get back into oil painting (the space! drying times! my cat sitting on stuff! 😂) this was such an encouraging and motivating video to watch! That violet gray paint is a beautiful shade... The painting turned out amazing, such a wonderful contrast of soft, blurred edges and then crisp brushstrokes. You always use flat brushes so beautifully! ❤
Hello from a fellow OCAD grad! I love watching oil painting videos but I totally relate to the hassle of setting them up! I used to use oils more since I adore their stunning luminescent quality, but they were never my main medium. Watching you paint with them though is a lovely treat! I'm hoping to try to get back into them with some new found free time this summer... Maybe your videos will be a good motivator :)
You have a very unique style. Very effective. Your ability to pick just the right color is a gift. As an experiment you could read one of those books and try and make an image that conveys the sense of the book. Typography can be left out. They usually add that later. (As a kid I used to read short stories and be compelled to paint the images the words conjured in my mind).
I mostly use watercolor and acryla gouache but I love seeing the oil painting process. Everything you create looks so magical so I watch regardless of the media.
I'm mainly an acrylic painter, but I enjoy gouache a lot too (which is what brought me here in the first place). Still, seeing your process with oil painting is super enjoyable as well 😊 Love the final result
I would love a general beginners guide to oils, it’s a medium I honestly have little knowledge about, but I love the resulting piece you’ve produced using them.
So relaxing! ❤ I really needed a video like this to feel more calm, and it looks amazing!! Great job!! I used to paint with oils many years ago with a cousin of mine, but I ended up leaning more towards colored pencils, markers, oil pastels and digital art, but hey maybe someday I'll go back to it who knows :)
Got here in time for the premiere but I don't want to miss the beginning so I will be rewatching as soon as it's done 🌸♥ I'm so excited to watch you paint with oils!
Just watched it, and I would love to see more oil painting videos in the future! I've always wanted to paint with oils but it seems to intimidating and daunting
I love the way oil painting works.. the finish and the way it blends and it's so much better medium.. idk its just so mesmerizing to look at oil paintings. And even working on one is such an experience. It definitely take a lot work than other mediums. I'd love love, absolutely love to watch more oil painting videos. I don't see many many people doing traditional paintings these days. It's a gem, keep pursuing traditional art.. can't wait to see next video of yours. Sending you love Emily 💖 have a good day..
I love your RUclips Channel Emily thank you for sharing your Art practise ❤ I am still searching my way but I fell in love with Oil paint 2 years ago although I am approaching it in a Total abstract & experimental way , I also want to learn figurative Oil painting as I already can draw since I was little and went to art Academy also when I was little. My dream was to go to Art school later in but my parents wouldn’t allow in so now Manu years later I am searching my OWN way. I also just bought gouache , never tried ik before so I am curious 😊 thank you for sharing , lovely kind greetings from Belgium 🙂
Hello Emily! As usual wonderful video! I was just wondering... a few videos ago you mentioned making a video about your digital art process, and I am very curious about your approach to digital art. Are you still planning on sharing a video about that subject? Thanks! And keep on the good work, I love your style!
This painting came out great Emily! I’m so happy to see you doing oil paintings. I started painting in oils a year ago, I mostly painted with watercolor but I started to do a little gouache and then acrylic and I’m now hooked on oils. I look forward to seeing more oil painting from you! ❤
I follow oil paint lesson from oktober 2023 and i love but it is not easy . I have 1 painting ready a painting from Andreas Schelfhout a Dutch painter that lives after Rembrandt van Rijn. We all make the same painting. It was not what i loved but i made it and i love to paint .i love too see your work you are a great artist.
Cool you’re doing oil again! Beautiful study👌🏻. If I were to start learning to paint with oil paint, how much time do you think I should have per session in order for it to be worth the hassle with setup and cleaning? Thanks
Beautiful little study! I enjoy all of your videos and love your work and style! Thanks for sharing, Maybe I will get out my oil paints again soon too. 🤔🎨❤
Love your work, you inspire me to paint more You should try to make a portrait of a character with a different skin color, like with RPG, that has characters with blue or purple skin, I would love to see how you would do it 💖
I love oil painting but I can’t do it often because my living situation doesn’t allow it. It’s fun to live vicariously through thus video. The painting is very vibrant and has a sort of sophistication to it, I love it!
I'm so happy for you that you decided to just paint whatever you like and with which medium. I recently started following realistic painting lessons with oils myself. I am still learning the basics, but I really like the medium, so I'm really happy you show us your painting progress in oils. I love the blocking of colors and how you build it up. Beautiful piece! Keep it up😊
I've never painted with oils - I'm only just learning gouache - but I'll definitely be watching. I always love your videos and it doesn't matter what the medium is, I'll always learn something from your process! I'm glad you've got over the hurdle and are enjoying oils again!
Thank you so much! I haven't personally tried water soluble oils, but they really intrigue me! Clean up would be so much easier haha. I know many artists really enjoy using them! 😄
You were absolutely speaking my language on oil paints and how other things can crowd it out. I'm excited for you and your re-entry into the oil painting world! You do such beautiful work... :)
I used to love painting with acrylic because I started my painting journey with it. Now I used both acrylic and oil (oil I like preferably more). I feel like oil allows u to sit and think about what your painting and even give u time to take a break to get a clear head. Definitely more forgiving
I love that you are carving out time to get back into oil painting! Other mediums are definitely easier to use but I love the slow drying time of oil paint and the consistency of it. I’m a slower paced artist and appreciate the fact the oil encourages me to slow down. The orange came out beautifully! Can’t wait to see what you create!
I love oil painting and love watching people paint on RUclips. :) For almost 15 years I considered myself (primarily) an oil painter. Now it's been almost the same time since I last painted with oils and I really miss it -- I get the craving at least weekly. However, due to my health issues and the lack of a separate studio space I probably will never paint again like I used to. 😢 I've been considering trying to paint outside but have yet to solve how I would dry anything.

Hereby voting for more oil videos!! Oil is so much more vibrant and alive than gouache imo 😍

I would love to see you do more oil painting videos! Great job on this painting, it turned out very pretty 😍
So cool! I'm not an oil painter but am very inspired. I have a couple of mandarins in the fridge - I'd like to paint/draw them now. Thank you Emily!

Aw thanks so much! It's nice knowing that non-oil painters can enjoy these videos as well 😊 I'll definitely still be posting gouache videos too 💛
More please
I love it
plsss do make more oil paintings!!!!!!!!!!!! i love it and im also an oil paint artist 💌💌💌💌🤍🤍🤍
My biggest problem with oil painting is their drying time, I don't have enough space for them to dry, I am afraid of dusting, smudging etc😢😢😢
👏☺😊
I would love a general beginners guide to oils, it’s a medium I honestly have little knowledge about, but I love the resulting piece you’ve produced using them.
I love the way you use colour 💕 all your painting have such a beautiful ambience
Hi Emily! We sent you an email a few days ago! Have you seen it? Looking forward to hearing from you! 💜🥰

Aw thank you so much! ❤️ I'll definitely do more oil painting videos soon. Hopefully it will make oil painting seem less daunting for both of us! ☺️

You can still learn a lot from watching oil painters even if you’re an acrylic or gouache painter.
I agree 😊 Thank you!

What kind of paper do you use ?
Thank you! I used Legion Stonehenge oil paper in this video. I really liked working with it 😊

This painting looks extremely good!! I love all the colors you used and the shape language is stunning 😭🩷✨️
Your painting came out really good. I actually prefer oil over any other medium, so oil or other mediums will be welcomed.
Love oil painting, just learning. Thank you for your video❤️
Lovely ❤ I’m very interested in watching you paint in oil.

"I don't need to make a masterpiece, I just need to start." This has been my approach to alcohol markers and I have to admit I've been having a blast
