No it wasn’t, the internet was invented in 1967 by the American defence corporation. They were the first to get two computers talking to each other and sharing information. Internet is an abbreviation of “ inter networked” computers. What you, and everyone else are referring to is the web browser, not the internet.
@@barcabhoy7193 Yes the World Wide Web is British not the internet. But it is the Web itself rather than a web browser. The internet was a closed communication system between two different geographical points. The World Wide Web is everything and all knowledge contained within. One provided the technology, the other removed it from its sole use in the hands of the military and handed it to the people to do with as they so desire. The truth is today's society would not have any access to the internet without both parties playing their part. The Americans created a powerful weapon for the pending information age, a British man turned it into the most powerful (and dangerous) tool in human history.
Point of correction, it's only called "The Union Jack" when flown from a ship, it's proper name is "The Union Flag" but in fairness to the American commentator, most British people don't know that difference either

You wouldn't wreck on a roundabout, its thoroughly taught when you learn to drive here, as someone who has visited America I've found that your typical driver is much less safe and the general etiquette on the road is poor and very aggressive compared to a brittish driver, not to say we don't have road ragers, its just much less common.
In the UK we have more road rage but it's safer road rage. In the UK, an American driver's license is not valid as the road layout is different and the test is thought to be less thorough.

Only two things to remember about roundabouts, (1) vehicles approaching from the right have "right of way," and (2) the further your exit depends on what lane you choose (e.g. left lane - first exit or second exit, right lane - third and forth exits). Overall, plan your drive before going anywhere.

Roundabouts are scary at 1st (when you are learning to drive) but pretty soon you get the hang of them. Give way to the right / traffic already on the roundabout, just slow down when you approach and have a look, drop a gear and most of the time you can zip around it. Ah...yes, we mostly drive manual cars not automatics. I feel it gives me more control of the car as I have to think about what gears are needed for the road and when you do a sweet gear change and don't loose any revs...it is really satisfying!
"I will instantly wreck" dude, don't be so hard on yourself! Sure, driving on the opposite side from what you're used to, but you'd be surprised how quickly you can adjust to it - just try and avoid busy areas like central London for the first day or so. And as for roundabouts, they're a piece of cake - once you've successfully navigated one you'll wonder what all the fuss was about! And you'll also probably reach the conclusion that yes, they ARE better than US style intersections!
Four way stop sign intersections in the US are far worse than roundabouts, or islands as they’re generally known. It’s like standing at a bar with a bunch of other people and the barman asking ‘who’s next?’

It's actually a Theocracy (Though you'll not find it on many lists). God rules and his powers are delegated to the crown. I think there are 26 bishops who sit in the House of Lords. OK, we also have an elected government but still, every law that passes etc, has to be signed off by the queen, she is not obligated to do so and a law cannot pass without her consent. She can dissolve parliament and she appoints the Prime Minister who she then 'requests' to form a government. She can also declare war. Elizabeth II has always had a strong opinion in meddling though and to my knowledge has NEVER wielded her power in any significant way. Charles has signaled that he would be more meddlesome and is already quite active when it comes to politics, the environment, etc.
@@grizzlygamer8891 yes thats why we jave around 600 Lords. It cancels out their religious vote. Also we are not am actual theocracy in a theocracy most the powers of the Royal are kept. We didn't do that. We took most the royal families power, rhats why its actually a veiled Republic.

My advice to you is to look beyond London because the real UK is out there. London isn’t really a good representation of what the rest of us see and have and enjoy. So, if you ever visit England or Scotland or Wales, explore the beautiful villages and mediaeval towns and stunning countryside. Our geography is rich and our history is wealthy.

With the amount of storms & hurricanes in the USA you'd think they'd be enough wind power to supply its people for free!!
I was thinking the same. The UK doesn't even know what wind is. lol
@@taniaPBear I know it's probably a joke but most days here are at least mildly windy I mean after all it rains like 230 days a year it seems so wind follows suit
It's due to the regularity of strong enough winds that can produce enough power thats why the UK has so much wind power
@@vvdisking5218 I didn't mean to offend anyone, I meant in comparison to the U.S hurricanes and the cyclones here in Aus, where towns are flattened and trees are ripped out of the ground, you know, like the person I was replying to mentioned. York is full of medieval buildings , Whitby is where Dracula was heading in the bram stoker novel and it’s just beautiful. roundabouts are simple give way to the right, "look right nothing coming go", I've driven a lot in England and Europe, driving on the opposite side of the road doesn't take a lot of getting used to its just daunting the first time you do it.
Roundabouts are great, faster, safer and smoother.
Ask the rest of Europe who drive on the same side of the road as you.
I would have a minimum of 3 wrecks before I got used to it 😂
@@JTReacts11 Honestly, they're far less confusing than junctions, if you can see no one is coming you just drive on, if someone is coming then you reduce your speed and then join the roundabout.

The video said "despite having invented the internet", referring to the US
The internet was invented by British computer scientist Sir Tim Berners-Lee

The flag is called the ‘Union Flag’ and is only a ‘Union Jack’ when at sea. Most British people don’t know this either though tbh

Us older generation do 😊👍🏻
That is an old wives tale. Its official title is Union Jack. It has never been known as a "flag".

Watching from Anglesey, North Wales.. loving your videos bud.. hopefully will be visiting Louisville to see friends soon.
It’s like standing at a bar with a bunch of other people and the barman asking ‘who’s next?’

interesting fact. we arnt a true monarchy, we are what they call a veiled republic. thats a republic that still has a monarch, but that monarch has given all or most of their powers away. we are also a hybrid country hybrid socialist/capitalist country (socialism and capitalism isnt a political stance or belief, its an economical policy. despite whatr americans think it is )
It's actually a Theocracy (Though you'll not find it on many lists).
