great video and solid review. I appreciate the objectivity of your reviews/comparisons showing us the live numbers. I'm glad I found this vid in my tint research!
Living and driving in California highways, for the past 15 years, Ive gone through 4 different vehicles in which each had 15-20% ceramic film on the 2 front side windows, and 7-10% for the 3 rear windows. As well as a very light llumar air series on the windshield and sunroof, I believe they were 85-90%. Ive never been pulled over by a cop or questioned for my window tint. I also see many vehicles on the road with similar or even darker shades all around. Yes, California does have a window tint law, but it is very unclear as there's no clear definition to what is legal and illegal. Due to the fact some cars may have dark interior and light interior which dictate the appearance of the shade each window tint (percent of visibility, color, shades, brands, all variables that determine appearance) is viewed from the outside, looking in. Its under the enforcing officer judgement if a fix it ticket is issue for tint that may appear a distraction to the driver or other motorist sharing the road. Also, the fix it ticket gives the vehicles owner options to either have the tint removed and pay a small fine (20-30$ inspection) or pay a larger fine (150-200$) and leave them the way they are and move on. Most people just pay the larger fine and leave the tint the way it is and move on since the cost of the tint usually exceed the fine. There are some installers, that provide fix it ticket insurance here in California, where they will remove and reinstall the tint for free if a fix it ticket is issued to you. Yes, you might get pulled over again for tint violation, but it is very highly unlikely unless you vehicle screams look at me in some obnoxious way!!!.
I heard from LE contact that they are largely not enforcing the tint laws anymore. I have had fill 5% all around (not windshield) for at least two years in CA and no issues. Pulled right next up to law, no issues.
The law is super clear there’s to be no film of any type on the front windshield and driver passenger windows. There is only one exemption for a very specific type of film that will not be covered in this video it is absolutely clear and it’s only UV.
I was wondering about Geoshield, I can't find anything online from anyone thats used it or had it but a guy around here uses it and swears by it- it's also 2 mil thick compared to most 1.5 mil and wondered how that would affect it's preformance...better or worse?
Im really happy you TheTexas OG Tinter breaks down the Facts! Color means happy clients. I’m all in with Xpel Prime XR Ceramic Black this film has the perfect OEM look always happy SUV customers. Keep up the great video and best regards from OG Tintdude Lorenzotintny
What a nice review amigo mío. I have a question, here in my country I don't have either options for ceramic tint at all, so I want to import a roll of tint to install it myself. Where could I find online a roll of xpel or llumar? I have a freight forwarder, so don't worry about international shipping, I only need it to be shipped to my freight forwarder that is located in US territory. Sorry my bad English hermano
What happens if you put the xpel over the factory tint in the rear and on the front windows? would the blue be as noticeable then as opposed to only the front and the rear factory?
Medium and dark film xpel..doesn't look blue.. But front light film will look blue...especially because there's no factory film on those 2 fronts..thats my peeve..the blye color not matching rest of factory charcoal color..
You are right about the Wincos that's why I never bought it it's a Madico product I use their Black Pearl ceramic it matches well with Factory I use their whole black pearl line and it comes in various sizes Black Pearl metal free , Pearl High Performance and black pearl nano-ceramic. The blue that you're seeing in most of the film is from the ceramic layer not so much the die
@@mikesanchez1428 Thanks. I’m leaning towards the llumar as the price seems much better as they are running a promo but in your opinion which level or llumar ceramic is not the cheapest or most expensive. Just looking for guidance to tell the installer.
Mike can you tell me your opinion between xpel xr plus and xr black? I cannot decide. Hope to hear your opinion regarding performance and color. I am thinking 70% windshield and 30% for the rest on my model y. Hopefully to achieve a more uniform color for at least the windshield and front windows. Thank you.
@@mikesanchez1428 I really like xr plus performance but hope to achieve uniform color. Do you think I can do xr plus 30% all windows and xr black windshield? That way I keep neutral color and maximize heat rejection. Thank you so much!
@@IronCan88 30% all around is koo...wshield in black will look neutral on wshield...so just go all blue n let customer decide...don't mention anything about color.. Glare is light..so clear...and light control don't go in same sentence.. Glare control needs darker color to be reduced..the darker the film...tge higher the glare control.. Dirty
In 5% it won't matter...in light film llumar all the way because it has an attractive color...in dark both are black in a way u can't tell that it is blue in color(xr plus)
Thank you for your feedback sir. One place is charging me $300 for llumar irx 5%. The other is charging $640 for the xpel xr plus 5%. I just wanted to know if it’s a huge difference in the level of sun blocking I would get. $640 is a bit expensive for my taste.
@@davidd7175 facts is...any1 cud charge that amount of money now..or 5 to 10 years ago..u mean yo tell me all sudden using a brand makes more money??? I've been quoted 800 for xr, 1000 for xr+ for windshield, pano roof, and all sides. Also everything from 800-1400 for llumar irx, pinnacle and stratos and air. So confused rn. A few other brands quoted around 1300+ also
@Mike Sanchez I get you! My top choice was llumar films but xpels are looking great also now. Are there any other top brands comparable? Thanks for the advice

Johnson's InsulateIR also suffers ghosting of the lamination adhesive from shrinking extremely easily, slowing down install time & tends to suffer badly from low angle haze & "doubling" of headlights in the mirror along demister lines through poor refraction characteristics over the raised sections. I had to work with it for a few yrs & I'd honestly rather work with the early 2000's 3M "Black" (CS-35) , which is really saying something!
Yes..but i don't because huoer has a better heat block overall(drei) but doesn't have dark vlt....and doesn'tshrinkfir faaak...cause it wasn'tmade for cars..so no bueno.. Xr plus is tops for heat block and all dark vlt..and shrinks 👍 Dirty
@@mikesanchez1428 Agree with XR plus with having a nice dark VLT their 15% VLT is like 12. Lulu's line including F1 15% is like a 19 -20% VLT too light esp. on all these tesla's white interior. Stratos is too blue with that air blue layer.
@@mikesanchez1428 Huper Drei isnt made for cars? I have it on my car. The Huper dealer never told me that when they were installing it lol. Sneaky bastards. Luckily it's been on my car for 14 years without issue. It's the absolute best tint I've had in terms of heat rejection. Even the newer tints dont come close to it. BUT it contains metal, and it blocks GPS signal in my car. Carplay becomes wonky and my dash cam is unable to get a GPS lock at all. For that reason alone, I can't use it on my other cars. Getting xpel next.
Surprised Suntek isn't there. Is it not even worth considering? I thought they were big enough to get a mention in a good comparison like this. Even if they did get pooped on.
@@mikesanchez1428 Suntek has far too much grain in it, the optical clarity is terrible, the carbon & ceramic is a horrible green especially at dark vlt & the adhesive gets "line marks" from the window gaskets when winding up & down hot windows, fails at about 3-7yrs depending on the particular film & you're pretty much guaranteed to scratch it pretty easily when cleaning. Fair enough summary would you think?

XR Black doesn't have the performance of the Plus. I think its very simple layer the privacy glass to blend the color. Not only will this balance the color it balances the performance. I rather layer so that the back of my customers necks are just as cool as there faces. Huge difference between factory privacy glass performance and a high performance multiple layer ceramic.
@@tintlightbynirolllighting2725 I have factory tint, and I really want the xr plus, but the blueish color keep me thinking. If I put 5% over the rear tinted factory windows and 5% on the front windows, will it match? Will the difference in color be noticeable?

I installed a window tint from ASWF called Dimension IRP 25% for the four doors and windshield and rear window 70% from the numbers, they are the best in the world. IRER 780-2500 is 93% can you verify these numbers?
Numbers are not best in world...and don't get caught up in the Numbers game..many many Chinese films have 99% IR block but don't last for shit..or have inferior glue..colors...hazy af.. Thats what separates films from FILMS..thanks my man!!
@mikesanchez1428 ASWF stands for American standard window film made in US it's a nano ceramic tint and all around very high in specs, but in terms of IR 780-2500, it is the highest at 93% I think it is the best tint, but I don't have the same device you got to verify it. see thier website

what are your thoughts on comparing Autobahn Black Ceramic vs XPEL XR Black Ceramic? I understand the i3 and Plus are better, but for both their “best” options, I was wondering which one you think would be a better choice. Thank you!
Ford vs chevy kinda deal...i personally love the I3 better because of the color hues vs the xr plus blue color🤢🤢... Both do an amazing job and both have excellent customer service after the sale.. Thanks for following!!
I have two tint shops near me, one does Llumar IRX for $299, and the other does Llumar Formula One Pinnacle for $299 (Stratos is $499 so to expensive). Would IRX or Pinnacle be better, as specs look about the same?
Pinnacle or IRX are more at par with specs..stratos will have a tad edge specs wise than both...but u have to decide whether 10% increase in performance is worth the 2 bills... Have an awesome day!! Thanks for following!!! Dirty
that could be true. a lot of smaller brands are made in larger factories with everything. what usually happens is the own a proprietary tint and they offer some of the technology rights to a larger producer to manufacture their product.
Global factory is a blanket statement....garware is a company that produces Global as their flagship film...but has the ability to manufacture films for many distributors...including x..... They don't simply make same film and put em in different boxes...theres way more to that...as far as production for others!! Thanks boss Dirty ✌️ ✌️
Depends what you need from the film! Both are great...xpel has been consistently a more revered line of film... Xpel will scrutinize who to sell to.. Maxpro does not...
Drei is HUPER ..very very very effective and a tad better in TSER than these...(kinda like crys), but its exterior reflectivity kinda keeps it out of the running here...for auto at least. Autobahn is a rebox of IRX ALMOST with 3 points higher ot IR block than IRX making it a serious contender here... I hadn't fiddled with it at that Time of review...but I would rank it over Global..crystalline..and IRX..and almost over Xpel...xpel is strong in just about every category..just the color for me is NO BUENO..
@@mikesanchez1428 thanks for the feedback. Autobahn/Huperoptik I3 is the only brand i like for my car followed by XPEL. Llumar for me is overrated and overpriced for what it advertises it’s functionality.

I have tested both independently...IR wise xr plus has higher...but my review states the blue hue is a major drawback.....for customers...if they accept that hue...then all is well.... Autobahn I3 i have tested...it has 90ish IR block which is Phenomenal....and in my opinion a better looking and super clear product....pricier than xr plus.... So if u have the Clientele autobahn would fit perfect... This is my opinion... Xr costs 1100$ roll Autobahn I3 is 1400$ roll... Still way better than the awful Crystalline product... Dirty
I think autobahn I3 is for looks..and high IR block..i hate blue color of wincos or xr plus..my opinion..then IRX second..and solargard zenith Ir tied second with IRX...SHRINK WISE..llumar is king there too
I have given extensive answers on product... Its the worlds vest technology and color...but adhesive and color in general...fail prematurely..1 5 years...no good...
Hey Mike, have you ever tried or reviewed the Nanoflex film yet? Because Ralph van Pelt, saying that it's a 98% IR rejection. Posted videos comparing it to most popular films. Claiming it's the best heat rejection tint film ever in the market that using carbon Nano ceramic. Is that true? is the Nanoflex is the best?! or just a sales trap?! Thank you.
The IR block is not the ONLY factor in qualifying a film to be a good quality product..that is only 1 factor...there are many..but these lines of film are established..unlike that line.. Dirty
thats ur opinion....many customers will immediately commend...or tell you there's something about the color or hue of tint if it doesn't match their factory colored glass.... as an installer, its my job to select the better appealing or better factory color matching films with high IR block...thanks for viewing...
This reviewer is not honest. He is obviously paid by XPEL. He is providing misleading info about the IR spectrum as he is measuring outside the IR range calling it “full spectrum” and using that data to push XPEL. Then he goes off about VLT misrepresenting 3M Crystalline.
And you would know this how? I am not an xpel fan..nor am i a fan of any film..if you would even know who i am..or what i mean to the industry as an advocate for "installers" not mannys...then u wouldn't climb in here with stupid statements about shit you don't know about...
