Failing to report bullying and harassment is NOT being an adult. It is NOT tattling. Addressing problems and resolving them is being adult.

A friend of mine worked at a place where they required everyone to leave their cellphones just outside the door. (inside the building, but outside of the office) He always forgot to turn off his data & wifi so his phone was getting the battery drained all day because it kept looking for signal in a signal blocking building.

Last 5 pictures on the phone... I would have done the same, but to add a twist to it. This is a privacy issue, I would have told him I refuse to show my phone, as by any law this is an invasion of privacy and an opener for a law suit. Any lawyer would have tear them a new one for mentioned invasion and I imagine other damages. I am not into suing everyone for everything, but in this case I might. It's a matter of the principles.

In reference to that vacation story. I had a project come up in December and I was told that I had to accomplish the project. I told my boss that I had 2 (just 2) vacation days in that weeks time that I would like to role over to the next year. He agreed and said that he would handle it. After the first of the year, I wanted to use those two days. HR denied the usage under the same policy in the story. That was the LAST TIME I ever gave up a vacation time for the company. Because I was salary and could leave at the end of my work for the day, I estimate that it cost the company about 4 work days (taking an hour off here and there) over the next year.

I had a similar vacation story. New important client in February, never any "good time" to take vacation because of the nonstop new work. I pretty much asked, begged, and pleaded, for someone to be backup for me so that I can take the time that I wasn't allowed to roll over. Ignored. All the rest of the year, the same, ignored. Finally, I didn't ask, but *announced*, that I was going to be taking off most of December and the latter half of November, so that I wouldn't lose any accrued time. *Finally* I got someone to act as backup for me.

We had a new CIO. Instead of 4 week projects it was now 2 weeks. 12 hour days but no overtime. By State employment laws this was illegal. The CIO explained that anyone that quit would have their named ruined and would never work again. Then HR changed the policy to use it or loose it vacation. Everyone put in for Vacation beginning the last week of October to December 31. CIO does not allow any vacations. Now or in the future.
Well the employees were making lots of videos of the screaming CIO with no paid overtime and no more vacations ever. Also mandatory 6 day a week 12 hour days.
Class action lawsuit was filed the beginning of November and most of the videos were given to the TV news. CIO threw a fit and said he knew those problem makers. The CIO was going to have them killed along with family members. The law enforcement had wire tapping orders. Minutes later the CIO and VP of HR were arrested. CIO lost it and hit a police officer.
The end was lost of executive management were fired by the board. Everyone received back overtime and court ordered oversight of the company. CIO went to jail for a bit.
