I'm aware this video is loooong so it won't appeal to everybody other than a select few. I promise the next one will be shorter and more formulaic. This was my first attempt at a video of this type. I'll do better next time because I know how I want to do them.
Brad The DC Universe Geek i had the whole set except for holograms still have them at my parents house all in a binder. Inside the same binder was a complete set of marvel series 2 cards minus holograms. Oh and Yuga Kahn was Darksieds father
LOVED this set. Had the whole set plus all the holograms. Was at my parents house for years, but it's probably in storage now. I'd love to get another set just for the hell of it...maybe I'll luck out at the next con i go to and see either boxes or sets for sale. Long vids are fine w/ me, you always provide entertainment :)
I just found your channel and I've been going through episodes when I suddenly came across this one. I can't tell you how many memories this brought back. When I was a kid I was a fiend for these cards. I would take what money I had, run to the corner stuff and get a pack or two. Not only is the art amazing on some of these cards, but these were also a great source of information. I had read maybe and issue or two of Who's Who, but this was like my encyclopedia of the DCU when I was a kid. I remember the joy of opening a pack and the feeling of utter despair when it was mostly doubles. Watching you rip open the pack, I can totally remember what that plastic felt like and how satisfying it was to open. This video was incredible. I promptly hit "Subscribe" when it was said and done. Thank you for reminding me of a really fun time in my life.
That's so funny, I've had a full set of these cards since I was a kid, and only just after taking them out of storage a year ago did I realize there was no Batman. Crazy!
Wicked nostalgic for me. I just unearthed my collection of these and was going to film a video looking at them. I also never noticed that there's no Batman
if you look at all of the Superman cards, they all have the statue of liberty in the back ground. looks like you can place them side-by-side to create a landscape image.
The holograms in this card series had very vibrant color. They are much better than the X-Men hologram cards that came out around the same time. You have to get the Lobo hologram. It's awesome.
I remember collecting baseball cards in the 80s and paying a total of .25$ per pack......those were the days. I had a unopened box of 89 batman cards back in the day, so you should try and get a box and open them, I loved those cards.
One of the best card opening. Videos I’ve ever seen please do more. Old-school trading cars cards. I love trading cards whether it be sports Nascar turtles cartoons. Comic books whatever.
So glad you enjoyed the opening! I’m still new and rough around the edges with this kind of video with so many cards to cover that I’m trying to find a balance between video length, entertainment, and clarity of each card being in the screen long enough. I had a box of 89 Batman cards lined up to go but the shipping was just through the roof. They wanted more for the shipping than the cards. Lol. I plan on doing more though. Sealed boxes is such a neat adventure.
Awesome! I don't do them very often because attention spans aren't usually long enough. My analytics show people usually get bored and click away looong before the 20 minute mark. It's good to know that you enjoy the longer ones.
first 3 packs and already holograms. these are nice set. the following set to this has a some good rookie cards. rookie for the sandman and death i believe
I'm guessing that the batman card rights were still elsewhere, this was only a year after batman returns and I definitely remember trading cards for that
My thoughts exactly. Batman was a hot property in 91 due to his re-surge in interest from the 89 Burton Film and DC knew they could licence a slew of products based on the 92 Batman Returns movie so they likely held held back Batman and most related characters due to that. Meanwhile Superman hadn't seen his re-surge yet due to his death and resurrection so he was open game. To me it just seems incomplete to not include Batman. Not only that but I mention in the video description a bunch of other important characters that were omitted too. I'd love to see a new set of Rebirth based trading cards.
Brad The DC Universe Geek a new set would be great. Seems unthinkable nowadays that batman would be left out of anything, I assume they were banking on his popularity creating more interest in the dc universe as a whole. Great to see these again though, takes me back!
I agree but I suspect DC wasn’t treating him as such during the 90’s. I couldn’t figure out any other reason they would include him and non of the others. I’m glad they did. I almost didn’t get him to complete the set.
That is very true, DC was really weird during the 90's with their characters and licenses 😧. On a side note, I'm glad you completed the set... Was really happy for you 😊
Brother I liked this video,I just started collecting again, and Love DC Comics the best. I enjoyed this very much and will be looking for these on eBay ty for sharing.
No Batman? That would never ever ever come close to happening these days. The set would be like a quarter Batman maybe half of Batman and Batman related cards

So no batman in this one 😂

Do another video, very good EVERYTHING! The price is going crazy on 1991 DC Cosmic cards. Open another one.!!!!
The Kilowog drawing always makes me laugh. He looks like his mood is chemically enhanced.

Batman was licenced to Topps at the time, there are sets for Batman and Batman Returns. Also, the top four packs of each box had the holograms.

That's true. I mentioned that in the original cut of the video because I noticed something like that as a kid, but ended up omitting it for time sake.
The hunt for that Deadshot card was tense! Glad that you got the complete set. I'd love to be the beneficiary of the doubles. Tee-hee! ✌

I’m currently working on it but it’s hard to find a box that isn’t an insane amount to have shipped. I’d love to open a case of 89 Batman Cards.

So freaking sick man.
Thanks!

I guess the cards sold well even with no Batman characters, but something like that today would have the Internets ablaze.
Im 14 and I just feel like I was born in the wrong generation. All the comics, toys and figures from DC in 70s-90s look so cool
Pantha got her head punched off by Superboy Prime.
Brad, Deadshot 🎯 counts as a Batman enemy since he is part of the rogues gallery 😉
I agree but I suspect DC wasn’t treating him as such during the 90’s. I couldn’t figure out any other reason they would include him and non of the others. I’m glad they did. I almost didn’t get him to complete the set.

The emotional highs and lows in this video were extreme! What about its sequel, DC Cosmic Teams?
That’s one I want to do too. I’d like to open about 5 or 6 other boxes in the future. A few Batman, Superman, and general DC character series boxes.
Brother I liked this video,I just started collecting again, and Love DC Comics the best.
I enjoyed this very much and will be looking for these on eBay ty for sharing.
Did you ever find them?
Just found your channel. Great box break video. Hopefully more to come.
Awesome review! Just got mine yesterday. You may have answered this but why no Batman, Robin, Joker cards?
Batman and all his related characters were licensed to TOPPS trading cards for the release of Batman Returns.
Amazing these survived all this time, unsealed! I just bought 10 unopened packs.
Gracias,me encantan estás cards clásicas. 👏👏🤩👍❤️
if you want to get rid of your duplicate Superman hologram card... I know of a fellow Superman fan that would love to have it :D
I'm thinking of throwing together a giveaway box in the coming months and that may go in there 😉
Loved this video! Glad you got deadshot
That’s looks really cool
Man I wish there was a Batman in here
Batman was not allowed because they didn't have the license i believe Topps did.
Brad dod you ever colect skyboxes DC cards
Brad, what figure is that you have as your channel's profile pic?
It’s a picture of the DC Essentials Superman Figure that is supposed to be coming out in September. Fingers crossed it does.
Did you collect the DC Villains Cards
No I didn’t even know there was a set of exclusive villains. There is?
Wait I see what I said wrong there. There was a set of Cards that came out recently leaning towards DC's greatest Villains
Xtremegamerdude 435 I’d like to get those too. I’ll look into it. 👍
Where can i buy?
Lobo hologram was fresh.
No black canary or green arrow? That's upsetting
How many cards in this set?
Thoughts on 1000?
Even though I have it as of noon today would you believe that I still haven’t read it. I waiting till the kids go to bed so it’s nice and quiet.
No Batman? That would never ever ever come close to happening these days. The set would be like a quarter Batman maybe half of Batman and Batman related cards

Now what after their opened 😆 like sex gotta clean it all up
