My grandfather who was born and raised in northern Vermont had a wooden fishing shanty with bench seat and 3 trap doors for fishing. The shanty had wooden skids and was taken up to Caspian Lake by a team of horses about 5 miles from his house one way. After he retired from ice fishing he used the shanty as a tool shed. Those memories are everlasting. Thanks for the memories. Keep a tight line and Good Luck
For the first several minutes I was wondering where the heck you guys were that the ice was that thick. I finally realized when you talked about the hook for your gloves to dry oat.

I’m from Fla., but I love the ideas of getting the boys together and getting drunk and fishing for walleye all weekend. That place is awesome! How much did it cost to make? Do you have wheel for it too?
How easy is to move the fishing hut to the lake and home after the ice fishing season , what do you use to move it around tge lake from spots , ps grest build and ideas
That is a nice shack. When I lived in Nipigon/Red Rock Ontario we ice fished on Lake Superior and always had a great time being outside. Your hut is great. Were did you buy your Fish Batter? Hope 2022/2023 is good fishing.
i noticed you had a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector which is good, but you should lower your CO detector to properly work. CO sinks, while smoke rises.
Hi Joel! I am wanting to build a shack very similar to fish and hunt out of. Was curious if you had your build schematics? I have insulated walls I savaged from a tear down and want to make it light enough to ice fish with. Wanting to know the gauge of aluminum you used for your bottom frame and skids? Would appreciate any info you could give! Thank you
Hey Kirk, thanks for watching. The lower frame was pre built by a local fabricator. We had just asked him for a 8x10 frame with skis offset about 16" from the edge. Hope that helps. Good luck with your build!
it's nice when you see things done right and nice and now you can enjoy this thing for all your years if you want it's just nicely made it'll last forever. it's nice to see
@@JoelTremblayCA I moved here to the keweenaw in the upper peninsula of Michigan. Nicer then the $28,000 premade ones out there that don't have a wood stove . Propane is ok but at least yours can be switched out to a ultra small wood burring one.
Not sure as we never brought it to the scales, but it's fairly light compared to traditional built ice huts. No issues pulling it with a small quad. Thanks for watching!
@@MrPolizmo there are plenty of metal cladding manufacturers that sell them. Just look up insulted metal panels, and that should give you a good direction!

excelent shack and beer choice!

The propane is so much better than wood due to the temp control. Used a camper furnace in my build.
Agreed! But it must be vented, otherwise propane is bad for moisture. Alternatively, diesel heaters work really good too.
