For some reason, when i press chorme key and place it on the letter and press intensity, it removes the white instead of the black inside the letter

Did you pick the colour of your letter?
Also don't adjust the intensity too much, take it slowly till you see it become transparent.
At first I just took it to the very end then everything disappeared, I tried it again and adjusted little by little and it worked
