I worked at Best Buy in Florence KY, Chad Johnson used to come in every once in a while. The fist time I met him he was in his second year and hadn’t become a superstar yet! I was chatting with him as he was picking up a stand for his stereo. A guy and his baby daughter were walking by and Chad saw that he was wearing an old 80’s “Welcome to the Jungle” Bengals sweatshirt! He excused himself, went over to the guy and said, “How are you sir? I just wanted to come over and say thank you for supporting the team, and I promise with all of the new guys and coach Lewis we are working really hard to make the team something you can be truly proud to support! I’m sorry we let you guys down last week but we are going to turn it around.” The guy realized who he was thanked him, asked if he would sign a ball in his car and took pictures with him and his daughter including holding his daughter! This is the type of person he always was even as his star started to rise! He’s humble, appreciative and kind to everyone I saw him meet! He’s a wonderful person!

I have three athlete meetings of interest to mention. My favorite meeting will always be Dale Murphy (Braves legend who should be in the Hall of Fame). Met him at games a few times with my family and he is always polite and welcoming.
Also met a couple WWF wrestling legends. Bret the Hitman Hart is one of the nicest pros I’ve met. He stood outside, in snow, for almost 10 minutes after an event and talked with my brothers and I.
Also, Shawn Michaels. My little brother went up to him and said, “Mr. Michaels can I have your autograph?” He said, “Sure, but just call me Shawn, not Mr. Michaels.” He said it with a smile and signed and talked with us. Great times.

Loved the Raiders when I was a kid, had a Howie Long poster "Real Men Wear Black" and Bo is the greatest athlete I ever saw in person. As a Vol, got an up close view of Bo running over Bates. No guarantees with old wax, topps was notorious for using an A/B/C/D, etc... rolls and some boxes may only have that one roll without the RC's.

Here's the thing, opening a box like this is fun, no doubt, and Jeff has a fortune so he can do it and it won't hurt his pocketbook what-so-ever. However, for the average person, there is an alternative that can get you high grade cards for way less. Search around, shows, shops, different marketplaces, and find several sets. Chances are you will eventually fine on that has a really nice Marino or Elway, or both. I just bought a set for $150 with a Elway that looks amazing, a Marino that is probably an 8-9, and the rest of the set was very nice. The set was collated back in the 80's and had been in storage since. Sets like that are out there, the hunt to find good deals on gem RCs in sets is fun, and you will often get them cheaper that way and can grade if you want. And you can pass on the ones that aren't nice.

When I was 10, in 1989, I went to a Baseball card show in Dallas,, TX and Mickey Mantle was there signing autos!! I waited in line for like 3-4 hours but at the end of my wait I got to meet The Mick!! Shook his hand, Dad took a photo, and I got an official MLB baseball signed by MY favorite player of all-time

Pete Rose in 1975. Big Red Machine. I was 12 years old. He shook my hand after the game. I remember it was the most CALLOUSED hand I've ever touched in my life!! He was super nice to me!

Barry Sanders for me as a Lions fan. I went to a game when I was 5 (my first NFL game). Only things I remember from that experience was who we played (Bucs), the fact that we won, looking at the Silverdome roof, and Barry Sanders running a 50+ yard TD.
I actually just bought a Barry RC for my birthday a few months ago. Happy to have that in my PC.

Marino was the only QB at that time with current QB stats, when guys weren't doing that, way ahead of his time. Best arm maybe in NFL history, I was always amazed how far he could throw in the old Pro Bowl QB challenges they use to have. What a cool box, all off center in the same way, tells me it was legit.

What an awesome break. I remember buying these at my local pharmacy when I was 12. My team, the Redskins, were world champs, and all was well in the world. Brings back so many memories. But these were never printed perfectly. There's a reason why PSA 10's are so expensive. They are unicorns.....

Dan Marino came to my local Sam's club in Springdale Arkansas. He was doing a promotional thing for some kind of mattress. My dad called me at 6 a.m. and told me that he had heard that Marino was going to be there for a signing. I had already bought a Dan Marino jersey and a Dolphins helmet, I flipped a quarter to see witch I would rather have autographed. Tails, Dan autographed my helmet and I still have it sitting on my mantle to this day!
