    Abandoned & Forgotten Places
Documenting abandoned mines like never before!
Let's take abandoned mine exploring to the next level!
With your support you can help make this the best abandoned mine exploring channel on RUclips!
Shot entirely in 4K! ...so, turn up those video settings!
On this channel we go deep... REALLY DEEP into abandoned mines and tunnels all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines and hiked or 4x4 back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Many of these remote locations are filled with cool artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver, and other minerals.
A&FP moves just a bit slower as compared to other mine exploring channels. Gly discusses why the miners chose these sites and he points out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men lose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.
DANGERS? Oh yes, there’s allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders, and snakes all find their home in abandoned mine shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooded passages and collapsing rock!
Gly takes abandoned mine exploring seriously with all the proper safety equipment, training, and experience necessary to do this activity as safe as possible but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun along the way. “Gly”, your host and his band of crazy characters “Old Bob” (Gly’s Jeep), “Quackers” (Gly’s duck) and “Bobbie” (Gly’s hula girl) are sure to brighten your day with their comments and silly antics. Heck, they may even give you a chuckle or two.
Just like Saturday morning cartoons before the internet was invented, Abandoned and Forgotten Places uploads each Saturday at 7:00AM PST. (that’s 10:00AM for you eastern folks) so don’t forget to click that subscribe button and bell icon to receive notifications of new episodes!
Please LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT! All these things help grow our channel and your financial support helps us find new locations and helps put fuel into “Old Bobs” tank. Old Bob, thanks you!
Ok, now for the ugly stuff...

The C.S.P. bricks were manufactured by the the California Sewer Pipe Company, located in Vernon, CA. (Los Angeles). CSP began operations in 1900, making a variety of bricks including fire bricks. They were in business as late as 1915 and probably longer. I could not find a record of when they closed, but they have definitely been gone for many years. Stay Safe.

I had to laugh when you remarked that you didn't want a wet foot! Here in UK, 95% of old mines are flooded, we end up walking through chest high COOOOOLD water! Whatever time of year, the water is always COOOOOLD! But fair play to you Gly, I would have been crapping my pants at all that collapsed material, keep them coming Braveheart!

Whats so genuine about your channel and explores is that your put up a "story" every week with a new location for us to see. You don't "miss a beat" except for unforseen "holdups" like Jeep repair generally. (hopefully never a "repair" on you). We travel along with you and see or run into what you do. We had our day planned to be with you and you had the day planned to find "new ground" and a unexplored mine or scenic, uniique area. So today, we all ran into a soft phoritic type geology and over time the mine fell in or closed in by the soft soil makeup. Darn! we all say, had alot hinged on this outing and explore, but there are alot of abandoned mines in those hills you're searching, and "good ol' Gly" will find another for we all to see. Thanks for doing all the "leg work" though. See you next Sat.

Hi Gly, George here. Gly, once a few years ago, up in Massachusetts, I was working with friends, building a kitchen remodel/addition. We poured a concrete foundation one day and went home for the night...next day, we come to work and the homeowner, a wonderful Lady who's name I will not share, The homeowner had gone out after we left and sat in the concrete naked. When we got to work the next day, we were going to chalk lines, lay down the pressure treated bottom plate on the new concrete....when I looked at what was a really nice imprint of what was obviously a lovely lady. We had a blushing laugh and looked up to see her turning away with a cup of tea, going back into the old part of the house laughing quietly. I bet you would blush too if you found that instead of a miners handprint and date...

Just have to say I love watching your videos. I’m a 62yr old grandmother living in Darwin Australia - I’m claustrophobic and have never been in a mine and never will, but I’m also an adventurer and understand the thrill of discovering new (old) things. I’m a passionate storm chaser and wildlife researcher, but I have always had an interest in the Australian gold rush years. I’ve also lived on the goldfields near Kalgoorlie in Western Australia for a time, so am very interested in old workings. Have come across many old sites in our outback travels and just love to dream about the old timers that lived their lives out in the middle of nowhere. Thank you so much for what you do. It’s so much appreciated - all the best from Down Under!😁

If you hadn't filmed it, we wouldn't believe you went that far into that mine. I would have stopped at the portal. Do people still mine like this where they dynamite into the hill and extract gold or silver or other minerals? Are there still places with gold that the old timers never found out there? Thanks for putting yourself in danger so we can see these places. You make the best mine video's out there and it I hope you can still do it a few more years.

Here's a tip Gly, next time you have to crawl through thorns or mud or anything else unpleasant, grab a rock that is bigger than your hand and use it as a spacer between you and the offending material. That is what we used to do as kids growing up in the greater desert southwest. Works like a charm.

That is one scary place GLy! right at 16:06, about 2 seconds after you say "I'll be darned" a bit of material falls down in front of the camera right in the middle of the frame! seeing all of how soft the walls and back of the mine are I wouldn't have gone under those heavy timbers but turned around right there. Did you notice that material falling down from the back of the mine like that while you were walking in? it happens several seconds later again, and I wouldn't have gone as deep as you did, but I'm a big chicken when it comes to any hint of collapse, you got cojones of steel bruh! also seeing that stull holding up a large portion of the back of the mine with all those cracks around it, I'm surprised it was even still standing in that condition it looked like it was going to collapse at any second, yeah that was definitely a breath holding moment. We3ll, you gave it your best shot Gly and this location was definitely not safe, glad that it was collapse where it was because it looked to be a death trap to me. From the position of the mill site you can see what looks to be an adit really high up on the hill, or was that just a cave or dark spot that went nowhere? Anyways thanks again for taking us with you on this adventure and showing us this location, I'm such a rock hound that I would have spent the whole day picking through the waste rock pile for nice bits of rock. I have a bit of neuropathy as well so I know what you mean but mine is NOT numbness, the opposite of it actually but I can relate. Take care of those wet noodles and rest your legs for a while. see you on wednesday if you have something to show us, if not then next Saturday! TTFN

Founded in 1887 as the Los Angeles Pressed Brick and Terra Cotta Company, owner Charles H. Frost built this company into a leading supplier of brick and tile in Southern California. This first factory complex operated from 1887 until 1916 on a site bounded by College Street (on the north) Alpine Street (south), Cleveland Street (east) and an alley that is no longer in existence to the west. This factory produced fire brick, pressed brick, cream, buff, red, gray and old gold standard and Roman-shaped bricks until it ceased operation in 1916

So the question that must be asked... What was so valuable up on that hill for them to build the tresell and how did they get material to the big iron chute?

6:23 Those tan colored bricks are Fire bricks used for lining a kiln, chimney or a melt pot. The red bricks are just plain clay building bricks.
**I guess that's the mine exploring breaks....Kinda like a female I once knew: Looks good on the outside, but a little shallow on the inside. Still an interesting place! As always, the picture quality is very clear. See ya !

At 26:32 I think I see another adit, in the upper-left corner of the frame. Might be an entrance to the upper levels of the mine.

Wow, that was claustrophobic! I am glad to see that you know your limitations, some don't. I am sympathetic with the neuropathy, my feet go numb and left arm has a nerve path that constantly tingles. Do you have nerve pain besides the strength loss? Chemo can save your life but it comes at a cost. All aside I enjoy all your videos, thank you.

When you find an extremely dangerous mine like this, do you post a sign or message to let anyone else who might come across it know that they really 100% I mean it not go in? Obviously a lot of these old mines are dangerous, but this one looked especially nasty, like it could come down any minute. I could tell you were eager to get out of there!

There it goes again, that bucket lid has the cure! Man, Gly your the Luckiest Dude i know. Going where only animals get water and don't go any further than that. That was bordering on reckless. My opinion, it would be better to blow that shut, no more entry. I'm with you about maintaining your health, vitamins... etc. Please stay safe.
