Marty never disappoints. When I first looked at the cab, I said to myself NO WAY .... 20 minutes later Marty has it running .... NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ...

@@michealmcintosh3264 Ironic that it is you that you don't understand my comment refers to the commenter that thought it took him 20 mins to fix and that since I use a browser it doesn't put the commenter's name in my reply. I've been a fan since he was posting Angry Ram vids.
Yeah, knew that it was going to be a nightmare when I saw the cab was rusted through, and I was surprised Marty got so far with it as he did, but he is more man than me, that's for sure.
It's good to see some of the machines are too far gone to restore, it adds a sense of realism to the channel, but also allows the viewer to appreciate Marty's skill in restoring the other machines.
I was chuckling when you began checking her over, thinking to myself that you might have met your match with this old girl. But, when she fired up soooooo easily, I was grinning and just shaking my head... I'd agree that this one is best left as a photography subject like the old Warner & Swasey excavator I found in Green River, Utah several years ago... Out to pasture, literally. Thanks for sharing the outing and the attempt, for I'm still grinning about the fact it fired up in the first place. This one makes the work on the one you pulled out of the woods mild by comparison. :)
You never cease to amaze me. I'd bet that farmer was surprised to see it moving. Even if the machine was kind of a bust, that may have been one of the most beautiful places that I've ever seen. Heaven. Thanks for the video!
As a fully certified JCB engineer (I've watched a load of RUclips videos on JCB) I can in my considered opinion say that this JCB could be used as an anchor.
Marty, about 25 years ago i got an old Cat excavator for scrap metal prices but she had good bones, cab, metal cowlings and hydraulic lines were buggered but I thought a nice 2-3 year resto, 17 years later finally finished her but I loved that old excavator more than anything and when I had to let the farm go due to health I sold her with the farm. I was really hoping you would have a crack but understand the logistics involved. That was a great crack though, and bringing life back into the old girl was monumental, those bloody diesels just won’t quit will they. Well done mate, you really know how to bring really great content to your videos and it’s a real credit to you.

So many explanation marks I know, but this video was just beautiful to watch.

Amazing effort Marty, it's sad she's probably a bit too far gone. That Case looked like a better proposition. Cheers from across the ditch. 👍

Ooooooooooooooo! Now that dozer looks like some potential there! Great vid Marty. The fact the excavator fired right up is a true testimonial to how tough diesels are. Thanks as always for posting. I’m looking forward to the dozer video. Enjoy your Sunday
Excellent Video Marty. With the weather getting better, I'd love an old outboard general service video. Have a second hand 80s 85 and dont know what to check first
Thanks Marty. That’s got to be the most beautiful setting for a “will it start” video in RUclips history. I found it interesting… perhaps someone can use the Perkins engine out of that excavator but otherwise it will make a lot of great American beer cans. Thanks!
Sometimes they just have had their day. Everything wears out eventually. Great effort getting the old girl to make one more spin. C and c equipment would like their dozer back! Now that one would be worthwhile. I like it! G'day from Tasmania
You still gave it your best shot Marty . can't fault you for that . keep going with all the excellent videos . a pleasure to view . keep saving the old machines . top man . from northern GB . .
Kia Ora Marty just watching you tutu with machinery is very therapeutic,, Your problem solving and clear reasoning are great to watch. Even though I don't have any machines. Loving this.
Whoa what a rust bucket! Loved the smile when it started right up. The engine might be worth saving...for someone. Loved the scenery on the way there. Thanks for another enjoyable video and greetings from Germany.
I'm willing to bet it was run down, kept alive to the end of the job, then pumped out and parked. That was a LOT of water in the fuel tank and some impressively clean hydraulic fluid for sitting by the sea like that. Same could be said for the drive chassis flake vs pitting. Given the state of the cylinders and rubber lines, it probably hasn't been sitting more than 5 years. Kudos for bringing machines back to life and giving them purpose again. Its satisfying and carries a romance; not to mention how good the old stuff is compared to modern luxury. Mechanical fuel pumps rely on fuel for lubrication (and hydration if it has a diaphragm) on the fuel side of things, a bottle with a return line keeps the pump happy and can help bring them around if they're just grumpy. ...Dozer video too? 😁
Marty you are my favorite RUclips channel. You inspire me to get into projects myself once I get my own place. I’ve learned a lot from watching your videos, thanks bub.
This machine looks very good. The tracks : necessary to spread fuel on the chain, lift it using boom. And it should un seize. But looks like a problem in swing motor or rotary seal ? Maybe swing brake is not triggered?
What some of us do for entertainment Marty, I used to love doing that sort of things with old wheeled tractors and old cars off farms around where we lived. A lot of them I'd get to run but the bodies and bits were so badly rusted I'd get them going then have to leave them. There's some sort of satisfaction just in that. Great stuff.
Marty the magician. It never ceases to amaze me how roust old diesel engines can be. I also thought no way but ….Marty. You do like a good project. Thanks for the Sunday morning entertainment 👍
What a drive in, so scenic. Wonderful location. Started easily, sounded good, rotates, boom grunts. That's 3/4. A lot of very expensive work. Body rust, hoses, seized levers/cables, rust on the cylinder shafts. Main issue are the tracks. But what a location, hills as a backdrop, sea at your doorstep. Must be springs or streams or even waterfalls nearby.
Choose your battles wisely. Once you said sea + 10 years, knew right off that those tracks would be frozen up real good. Didn't expect to see one of the rails rusted to the roller. Impressive!
Good day sir … I really enjoy watching you get these machine going … and I agree it’s to far gone … please continue finding these gems and even go as far as restore them. Thanks for doing that looking forward to the next video
I'll have to say, with all that rust, I didn't think you'd get as far as you did. You proved me wrong, should have known, you are a wizard when it comes to all things mechanical/ electrical, Marty. Seeing her fire up was a shocker, it was fun watching you bring her back to life, well done! Thank you for another fine video!!
I am always amazed to see these machines fire up after such a long time. Just shows how with good regular maintenance, they could have lasted even longer.
Amazing job Marty, Keep doing what you're doing, it fills others with hope and inspires them. The only thing i would say is I'd be a little worried about that temporary tank falling and dumping diesel all over a very hot exhaust manifold. Unlikely but still.
It was surprising how quickly it fired up. For a moment it seemed hopeful. It would have been interesting to see a full skin rebuild on it, but there wasn't enough good left.
This is what we call a "Subscriber Special". The only point in trying was to make us happy, not because the machine had any future use. So, in that respect, great success. A sledgehammer against the locked up rusted parts might've jarred them loose. Done a few granny trips around the pasture if she wanted to maybe, but never be put back into use.
Wow, you got this rig running quite swiftly, showing persistence to go forward with the idea, when I had already dismissed any thought that this rusty beast would start and run--so well. Good job.
