Although they have different boiling points when pure, once mixed they are similar to ethanol and water above 90%. It’s possible but incredibly complex and costly. The environmental damage from the energy used would be greater than through tritium releases. Also tritium is a lot more harmful to breath due to the weak lung tissues and therefore even a small fraction released as vapour would be more dangerous in the air than discharged into the sea. Finally, tritium is incredibly valuable (make gold look like pennies) and therefore if it was possible they would in fact as Japan publishes most of its processes… I have seen japan has some leading tech for it but not even close to the scale or power needed here.

The Prime minister's approval rating would drop, and some countries would be angry with the Prime Minister. Japan could potentially face some trade sanctions if the issue is not resolved soon. If the situation is resolved quickly, the effects may be less. However, the Prime Minister could potentially face criticism from some countries, even if they are not directly involved in the situation.
    - The Japanese economy may become weak as some countries stop trading with Japanese companies.
    - Japan may face sanctions and embargos, and it may lose some of its influence in the international community.
    - There could be a significant decrease in foreign investment in Japan as some countries may not consider it a reliable trade partner anymore.
    - The population of Japan may begin to decrease as people may no longer want to move to the region or stay there.

Tritium is a gas that quickly disperses in water, and it would be impossible to contain without some sort of physical barrier around the source. Once in the ocean, it will be carried by ocean currents and diffusion, thus spreading the contamination widely."

@@DanielPerez-zero01 You are so F O S . There is always around 3400 grams of naturally occurring tritium in the earth‘s atmosphere as it is constantly being produced by cosmic radiation interacting with the upper atmosphere. Most of those 3400 grams are in the earth‘s oceans. The water in Fukushima only contains 2-3 grams of tritium so releasing it all at once would have no measurable impact. The reason why they are only going to release 0.1-0.2 grams of tritium per year at Fukushima is that the regulatory limits for radioactive releases from the plant are still the same as they were before the accident. So Fukushima isn‘t actually allowed to release more tritium in 2023 than it did when it was a normally operating nuclear plant.
