    I love shooting cars, but my go-to lens is an 85mm. I think I like shooting with it just because it is different from what most people shoot cars with. I also keep a 24-70 and a 16mm in the bag to have options but my favorite shots always come from that 85.

    • @LizziePeirce
      @LizziePeirce  2 года назад +4

      I LOVE me an 85. Usually run and gun travel stuff I go hide in a bush and photograph the car

    I would like to hear your comment about CPLs because, quite literally, every car brand I shoot for wants their cars to looks shiny - this is coming from everyone from the client side, whether creative/art directors from the agencies or marketing people from the brands. This is why I, nor any of my peers who shoot car ads for a living, DON'T use CPLs.

  • @TonyC0101
    @TonyC0101 2 года назад +11

    After all of that, the final shot still shows an incorrect use of the CPL? And, I'm not sure the strobe helped all that much with the shot. If the final edit was a combination from multiple exposures, then a lot of the reflections could've been masked out, or rotate the CPL for each shot to see through the reflections.

    • @jasontrahan4483
      @jasontrahan4483 2 года назад +5

      She said that in this case the client wanted the car to look "shiny". I presume she correctly uses the polarizer to increase the reflections instead of remove them. It's a nice photo and I think in this case, the shininess is apparent. Whatever gets the job done.

    I've only purchased one filter to film a wedding earlier this year, a VND. It got stuck in its case, it got stuck on the lens, and threading it between interior/exterior shots was a bear. Magnets sound amazing.

    I just went to a car show today, but saw this video after I got home. I wasn't sure which lens to bring so I had my 50m and a cell for video. It was a challenge for the photos, a lot of tight shots. I'll see them in the computer soon and hopefully get a few good ones. I have to edit them this week. Thanks for the instruction. The ending was the best! 😆

    Hey Lizzie, just found your channel, some great stuff especially the editing of the layers in PS (other video). Have you done some experimentation with HDR and bracketed exposures if you don't have strobes or any other light source available? Thanks.

    really odd to make a car photography tutorial and then only include 1 example shot from the actual shoot... anyone can go out and find random examples as you seem to have included. but those are all in completely different conditions than what you are working within thus making everything you're "doing" in this video pretty irrelevant. am i wrong?

    Great vid. Lizzie I’m having a challenging time shooting motorcycles because of the chrome or shininess of the bikes. Luckily I’m a photoshop wizard. We have a strobe setup at work with a rotating table and everything is painted white. So the polarizing filter will help? Any other recommendations? We hide behind several screens but even the screens show up on the bikes.
