  • How I charge the nitrogen brake accumulators for my Cat articulated end dumps.
Always be very careful when working with and or around high pressure vessels. Always consult a trained instructor and follow the manufactures instructions when charging or working around high pressure components.
This video is for entertainment purposes only.... DO NOT follow my actions if you are to attempt to try this.
The Caterpillar 725 730 735 and 740 Articulated end dumps use 2 nitrogen charged accumulators in the service brake system for 2 reasons. First: is to cause a smooth pressurized oil supply between the pump and the wheel brakes, without the accumulators the pressure would dip significantly when first applying the brake pedal as the pump cannot instantly react to the sudden pressure drop Second: in case of engine or pump failure the accumulators store enough pressurized oil to safely stop the vehicle.

The Caterpillar part number for the charging adapter that fits the brake accumulators is 152-2023

But you can get it cheaper without the Cat “gold” box.
It is made by Hydac I think the part number is 02203757 $900

@@RasmussenEquipmentI got you reply through email. I'm taking it that this valve will be back at the parking brake itself? Or is it up under the cab? I'll look to see if I can find it. It's a very annoying when problem to say the least.
