You’ll definitely need to do several episodes of this game, there’s soooo much content to look at.
ye.
Definitely should do a video for each region
Yea
I second this
Agree
I'm surprised no one asked you to try to fly out to the center of the map. The Divine Towers are arranged in a circle with a very clear center point (Shown on the map as a cloud) and using the telescope item from any tower towards that center shows that there is some kind of landmass out there, super obscured by fog. I'm sure there are many like myself who are very interested to know what's out there.
that one spot feels so much like DLC speculation bait
Checked out the spot, there's nothing there. However, a section of the seabed had been cut off in the shape of a geometrical square leaving a black void in its place. It covers a substantial portion of the cloud depicted on the world map. Perhaps they deleted some content from there? Maybe a part of the speculated DLC?
DLC
@@ZoOlja I'm literally begging for DLC 😭
@@ZoOlja did you check the sky?
8:40 thanks so much showing the subterranean shunning grounds! After a day I just abandoned it and it's cool to see how labyrinthian it actually is. Great vid!
9:15 The real roundtable exists in the game world so it's not that surprising that the replica that acts as the hub has the exterior still.
11:14 It's the hole that the fire traps retreat into when you hit them, it seems to imply that there was one there before they got rid of it, and just didn't get rid of the hole as well for some reason.
especially as you get farther in the game you notice there's a lot of rooms that have the exact same wall layout and decorated differently, they reuse the room models a lot and just cover up things like elevators/traps/etc when they're not used. And yeah, you do find the "real" version of the roundtable hold later, I was going to bring that up too, unfortunately as far as I've explored there's not really a whole lot there.
@@1Raptor85 And that's the power of secrets.
The diameter of that hole looks a bit too big for that. Could be that it was a drain with a grate over it (seen those around too).
The real roundtable has to be a callback to the Abandoned Old Workshop in Bloodborne.
@@archaicruinx Not really.
In the case of the Subterranean shunning grounds, the copy-pasting is the puzzle, it tricks you into thinking you've looped back around then surprises you with enemies replacing what was initially corpses in the first hallway. Giant Mountaintop Catacombs do a similar thing but with 2 sets of hallways, I love such navigational puzzles lol.
I fucking hated it. The catacombs all look too similar as is
@@dommorris8163 That's what I liked about the puzzle lol, it uses that weakness of the dungeons as part of the puzzle and demands from you to piece together the 3D space by mapping your steps and how different the elevation between the rooms actually is. Rainbow stones are a big help at keeping track of where you've been too though I didn't use them but they'd certainly be a big help. Remember that this is an optional area hiding the game's most secret ending so it makes sense for them to make it so hard to get through in some way.
Varre having the icon of Mohg is a very good detail that we'd have never known without your help, which is very cool. Its a tattoo we can apply to our character model as well, so we too can both join Varre's little blood cult and also look the part.
Also most of the other bloody finger NPC invaders have this tattoo as well
6:31 Regarding Ranni's internal rope:
If you finish Ranni's questline you eventually see her without her robes and hat, after engaging in some kind of fight at the end of "the dark path only she could walk." Her skin is all torn up, and the being (her opponent?) whom she sits in front of is dead, is all mangled and broken, and you can see that she's actually apparently made of bundled rope wrapped with skin like a living doll, which, indeed, she is. It's explained in the lore:
"Ranni, being an empyrean, was chosen by the Two Fingers as a candidate to succeed Queen Marika. Ranni however, did not want to be a puppet for the Two Fingers. And so Ranni plotted with her assassins, stole the Rune of Death and slew her own empyrean flesh so she might pursue divine ascension free from their control.
In order to assure only her body was slain, Ranni simultaneously used the Rune of Death on her half-brother Godwyn, killing him in spirit, while she killed herself in body. This marked the half siblings as the first demigod casualties in the Shattering, and the event of their death was dubbed the "Night of the Black Knives".
Ranni's spirit now resides in the body of a doll, unable to partake in the war directly, but her ambition for divine ascension continues."
That's from the Elden Ring wiki.
so thanks to ranny, Godwyn died, and he died for Rannies ambitions
@@firmak2 Amd nothing of value was lost
@@kenetickups6146 dunno man, everything seemed to have gone to shit after that.
@@firmak2 well there's some evidence that this was all part of Marika's plans... she was one heck of a schemer.
Fyi the "being" is her Two Fingers, each empyrean had one, the ones you find on top of the divine towers
Fun fact in regards to the Siofra Elevator:
You can see the loading fog roll in during multiplayer by having the host ride the lift up while you stay down below. It starts to get really weird and foggy just like you showed.
6:30 the Ranni stuff makes sense, and is at least partially explained in her quests.
The jewelry just strengthens my theory that the red wolf is a reference to Red XIII from FFVII. Red, vaguely dog/fox, uses magic, found on a high plateau in a field. I love it.
Shesez, I REALLY would love to see a region break episode on Earthbound Beginnings. I think it's just as interesting as its sequel!
If your comment can get over 500 likes I'll start it right away
@@BoundaryBreak Aw man... I'm NEVER gonna get that much
We'll get you to 500!!!
@@Tagraz You will...? OK! Thank you!!
@@CelestinaakaClonaClox9999 rip
For the Rennala fight, the minions also seem to crawl out of little ground-level holes in the wall around the library.
On the map, north of Mt. Gelmir, in the water shows a rock pillar with a large whorl pool around it.
However, due to the fog effect, we can't look out over the water north of Mt. Gelmir. I won't to know if that drawing on the map is actually out there in the water.
The scuttled ships of the coast off Radahn's boss fight arena is shown on the map and they are actually there in game to be seen.
At a certain location you can find the original/true Round Table Hold, the one we use as a hub was likely copy pasted and then edited, hence why it looks like it was supposed to be somewhere.
At the Leyndell capital you can also see a portion of the Erdtree that does not shine golden and looks normal just like those branches.
I feel like the Great Jar's coliseum was supposed to be used for the fights but was cut pretty late. The fact that where you currently fight the npcs, the colossi will shoot at you with their bows and interrupt you further reinforces my belief.
Kinda makes sense but make a whole ass arena for 3 invaders? Where is the Giant jar even gonna sit? I doubt it had anything to do with the great jar and he was just placed there.
My thought is that the coliseum areas might be used for a Sekiro-style boss rush. Things like fighting the Demigods or divine creatures, while the lifts might be used for NPC fights
Lol you can just walk into the coliseum behind the jar
@@jeffreytorres2539 Note that this comment was made before the colosseum update.
@@zephyrprime8 oh I didn't realize but I figured that was the case after thinking about it.
something i always loved about fromsoft games is the amount of effort they put in their character models. like, all of them wear face-obscuring helmets or masks. but remove them, and you notice they all got fully-modeled unique faces, even the summons who you will only ever see as a shimmering phantom.
I have a strong feeling that the coliseum that are scattered throughout the game will be a part of some special dlc of this game. Where you have to fight either an NPC or do a PVP match to progress through. It would be really interesting if you were also only restricted to specific levels and specific weapons. Can only wish.
@@MJ-nn6cr artorias of the abyss from DS1 had a fighting arena as a dlc. Painted World DLC in DS3 also got a fighting arena.
To further back this theory up, there's some basic armor outfits that are utterly identical to each other, but one is colored red while the other is colored blue. Almost like team uniforms to differentiate player models.
Those coliseums are available in every location, right? I imagine that being linked in someway and somehow with some sort of side quest that requires you to defeat multiple Duelists (I mean, they're literally gladiators), with maybe a final boss battle at the end of each (tournament arc vibes perhaps).
It almost feels like those Duelists were made for these locations, but, for whatever reasons, FromSoft could not ship with these areas available, even though they had the Duelists available - and so they (the Duelists) ended up dispersed randomly throughout The Lands Between instead.
DS1 had PVP arena in the DLC
What I wouldn't give for endless co-op arena PvE... Perhaps they could also do team PvP but with the current connection and balance problems I wouldn't be playing that for long.
Hey Shesez, I'm the guy who translated the french text on the little sisters note books on your video on Bioshock, years and years ago :)
I rarely comment videos in general, and this is only the second time that I comment one of yours, so here it is.
I've been following your channel since then, great job, man. You continued so hard to publish solid content through time and difficulties of life, so congratulations.
You should definitely work on a video with VaatiVidya. He is the Lord of Lores, and his community is solid. But I guess that if you know Lance Mc Donalds work, you should already know VaatiVidya.
Check out Zullie the Witch work, she published a video showing the characters without their masks. And it's interesting to notice how consistent the Souls world are. Every details exist, weither the player has the chance to see it or not. But it exist. And that's how you recognize a master-piece (among the other qualities Elden Ring has).
Yes, I'm a fan-boy, and so what ? :D
With that bridge lifting animation, I was wondering if that was first planned as a lava boss reveal. It would be such a FromSoft thing to do, think you're unlocking a shortcut but instead you pull up a nasty thing that was sleeping below the lava.
I was really curious about the boats you can see from Caelid. Glad to finally know what they look like up close.
For the casters - That is their Gem. This is explained in the Sellen questline (when she gives you hers to put into a new body). Its more or less their souls.
Also - Ranni is held together by ropes - Because she is a doll.
Its crazy we rarely fight real casters, 90% of the time its their puppets
Pumped 200 hours in it already, still my first playthrough, it's rare a game is so addictive to me, especially in this day and age.
174 hours for me. Still in Liurnia.
I thought I was over gaming and just thought I had grown out of it. Apparently games have just been super lame lately because elden ring has me hooked
@@OlsenJustin yup. Games and movies are poor nowadays.
I thought I had just become jaded to gaming. Especially after Halo Infinite.
Turns out games really are just trash nowadays. Haven't been this deep in a game since fallout new vegas and fallout 4 after that
Damn, I only had 170 hours on my first playthrough
I believe those Coliseums are meant as portals for future DLC, and my guess is you have to fight a boss before you could continue. But that's just my theory, I mean this game has huge DLC potential.
They already have a purpose they're PVP arenas???
@@durpanda123 they didn't do anything at first.
They became PvP coliseums in a free update
@@durpanda123 My guy you were new. The Colliseums were part of a free DLC.
The book people also crawl up from the edges of the arena during the first phase of the renalla fight.
This game is so vast that I feel like this will need a part 2 one day :)
My theory for the Colosseum is simple. Its a PVP zone. Two players (1per elevator) are spawned in, then taken up into the Colosseum to fight. Similar to Dark Soul 1 and 2 Arena
Wow, I wasn't expecting a boundary break about this so soon. Thanks so much Shesez! Greetings from Hungary!
the great jar colosseum is 100% DLC, that main open area has to be a boss arena.
The elevator/well type space could have also been one of those fire traps as well that show up on catacombs
What's best about some games like these is that you look inside them when you pan the camera in the game. Except enemies and bosses.
Great work! I would love to see a zoom-out of the Haligtree and Elphael if you plan on doing a second part, since there is never really a spot in the game where you can see them form a distance :)
Loved this, seeing content that was hidden or just difficult to see because of how fast-paced fighting can be is always a treat. The way you cut that steak is a totally different story... *shudders*
you can actually get fia's armor after finishing her quest
also the roundtable hold actually has a "real" version that you can access in leyndell, like the cemetery of ash in dark souls and the hunter's dream in bloodborne, explaining why there's some exterior stuff around it
But you cant get her panties without cheat 🙃
Having a close up of some of the bosses like Margit or Godrick would be pretty cool
Shesez, I'm beggin' you you gotta do Boundary Break episodes on old Need For Speed games.
I worked on NFS PS1. We rendered the world as a spline with segments going out a fixed distance even for our looped tracks.
(Modern) NFS:MW would be cool to see.
Here’s hoping the coliseums end up being special pvp/pve arenas once some dlc drops.
I have a char I play offline only with cheats/trainers. I explored that area at launch. And like the BB guy here (sorry IDK his name) I knew it was going to be used for something at some point. Partly because instead of just having the door not open, they drew attention to it by having the giant jar blocking it. And then when I saw the inside is modeled but it already had colision. Meaning once you clipped inside you could walk on the ground, and then seeing the two lifts with the stadium I knew it was gonna be a PVP thing. Took a while but that's exactly what it ended up being, and in a free update!
Great video, please do a part two! If you do a 2nd part, I think something alot of us fans would be interested to see is where Radahn goes when he uses that meteor move. I know my first time getting him to that stage I was like "oh he must show up later in the game or somehing" and then all of the sudden an earth shattering attack destroys me lmao
Some stuff like Jerren's helmet you find because getting his helmet it has an alternate form without the hood.
As a game tester, your videos are quite epic, gives me more ideas on how to break the games I work on
Ah yes, the famous surgeon and member of the Moghwyn dynasty, Vear.
Amazing stuff, I'd love to see more parts to this as you complete more of the game!
This is pretty amazing. Hadn't expected a video from you this quickly. Props to the creator of the camera. There are several things I want to talk about.
If anyone is interested, you can get a decent look into the giant jar even without a special camera. You can simply stand right next to him and angle the camera so that it's really close to his exterior. Then you'll be able to look inside.
Just to clarify for anyone who is unfamiliar with them, the catacombs you showed off are deliberately repeating themselves. They make you go up and down and run in a circle so you think you just entered an already explored part of the dungeon from another direction, but you're instead a level above or below the original layer. They do this at least twice to an extreme degree. On the second iteration, they make some slight changes but try to fake you out still, even putting corpses of enemies on the ground that you may or may not have killed before. Those are easily recognizable though because they're solid parts of the environment. However, on the second iteration they're not subtle anymore and if you really haven't realized it yet, they'll throw some surprise enemies at you where there shouldn't be any. I really laughed hard when I went through a room full of the poison spewing things and when I turned the corner there was a giant one right in front of me.
I do wonder how this whole culling thing works on the gamedev side. I really doubt they go in and just delete faces manually. Maybe they pull up a frustum that's a bit bigger than anything you can achieve from the ingame camera and then automatically turn everything inside it that would be entirely hidden invisible? Then they repeat that for any direction where there is a lot of geometry. I know this stuff is basically done at runtime too, but I assume what we (don't) see here is actively unloaded when you enter the area because you'd never see it to begin with.
Just got 100% achievements for the game on Steam, and now this banger of a video came out, thanks man! Keep up the good work the videos are great!
Holy FUCK
I’m so close, being a souls vet the trophies are so much easier to get in this one. I’m so use to the trophies being things like collect all sorceries and collect all pyromancies. Now you just need the specific legendary ones. I’ve only got three trophies left and i’ll probably have them within the next couple days.
I'm 4 away, need to get the spear in my ng+ and get the fire and base endings
the thing about dark souls is that the devs understand the fact that most of their insane details might not be noticed and appreciated in the heat of the moment, but they would 100% be noticed if they were taken away, its one of those subconscious things that makes these games great
L for not showing FIA
Aw, cool, I stumbled upon this video. Really nice to have a close look at the weirdo monsters. So cool thanks.
Awesome video. Would have loved to see the whole siofra elevator shaft from outside (if even possible). I was feeling a little sick riding that thing down. A zoom out of siofra would be nice too. It is as beautiful as it is deadly. Keep up the good work!
With the recent news of secret walls taking 50 hits to break, this could find some extremely secret content for us
Wait...what?! 50 hits??
@@plaguepenguin Yea it's in volcano manor and leads no where lol
Well it leads right back into where we came from already
They probably put it there originally as a troll before the second real wall you were suppose to hit to progress to the under the manor part then decided that was too dick to casual players
Also it's 50 hits with a normal weapon
Pizza wheel takes seconds and someone even mentioned that maybe the arm jar cannon is what is meant to be used for these kinds of walls.
Just so you know, the 9999HP walls are just walls that have specific triggers to "break" that just weren't set up properly. They all open by activating their proper triggers, just a very specific wall was messed up, like the one in the manor.
Small thing but in Tiny Tina's Wonderland in the Queen's Forest there is a solid texture like placeholder Block in the abyss below the map, kinda under the blind that you destroyed, I found it by accident breaking out of bounds, love your work Sheesz, but I managed to land on it after about an hr of trying, there might be more to find
Nice! You showed my viewer request for what the inside of the giant jar looked like in North Caelid! Just shows that it definitely pays to make those requests on Twitter. Love you man, and love your content!
One thing to note as it's one of my favorite helmets it's when you get Jerren's armor set you can alter it to just be the metal face helmet. It's really cool looking.
I'm curious about the mobs that turn into other monsters, like the one that turns into a bear.
You definitely put a lot of time and effort into this great video. Thank you Shesez
The Erdtree is so big, it always feels like you're right next to it
Wasn't expecting a boundary break about this so soon! Exciting!
I think this colloseum will be used in the future for a DLC where they have a dedicated arena for PVP, maybe.
Wow didn't expect you to do elden ring that early, I thought we would have to wait like a year but nop so this is awesome!
Would've preferred that so he'd cover everything including ending related stuff
@@Stargazing_night_sky whod to say he wont do part 2 or 3
5:41 around the edges of the arena with Rennala, some of the minions are crawling out of holes in the wall too
Love to see the insides of this game.
It's amazing!
It says something that I've beaten the entire game, and not only have I not seen that coffin or the lava bridge, I don't even know what areas of the game those are supposed to be. This game is crazy huge.
This is a great game. Thank you for covering it. Also I went to one of your panels and they were so fun. Anyone who can go to his last panel needs to go, do yourself a favor.
The colosseum kinda looks like a future undead match arena. 1v1 where each player would Spawn on a lift, it's the perfect size for elden ring's pvp.
When you looked underneath Jerren you saw his mask - if you get his armour (no spoilers) you can use a site of grace to edit certain armours (to remove capes etc) and you can remove the hood from his mask and you see basically a metal face/head with a beard
Exactly what you saw under the hood - so essentially his character model head is literally his unedited head piece
7:20 it was probably going to be a pvp thing, I just guessing tho
A couple of item descriptions mention that ritual combat used to be common in the Lands Between. The coliseums may have been used for that purpose, and maybe Fromsoftware intended to make use of them but changed their mind during development.
There is a spirit/ghost in front of the one in Limgrave who says something like "I just wanted to die a honorable death in combat, why won't these doors open?"
I never noticed that the Tree Sentinel had a tree on the top of his head, that so wholesome somehow.
Wait you’re not stopping with Boundary Break I hope? 😰
Watching you slice asparagus and potatoes with a serrated knife made me rage way more than any souls game
"Last panel ever"? Are you retiring or something?!
I like how you start off an ad with "your time is valuable"
Best troll of the year
If you would slow down… actually show… take your time… you would get your old viewership back, plus more. But your are insistent on doing things the same exact away and it’s draining. I have to pause and rewind to watch you and I barely listen to what you say because by the time it’s on the screen, your already on the next subject. SLOWDOWN. There isn’t a time limit on your content. This isn’t TikTok. Maybe you’d do better on TikTok? I don’t know. All I know is there are a big number of RUclipsrs that do this WAAAAAY better than you. Chill bro. It’s like someone’s chasing you while your editing and recording. You do better on the advertisements then you do on your own content. Who are you running from??? Your viewers???
lol
Oh I can't wait until you see the furthest endgame areas, especially Haligtree and crumbling farum, I would imagine those two have quite a bit to hide.
You can see the exact copy of the roundtable place in Leyndell. Seeing that area gives me goosebumps
Yet another superb video Shesez - great work! I rarely comment but I just wanted to say I adore the content you create - since a kid I was fascinated by out of bounds content and now it's served to me with regularity. Perfecto!
This is so cool. Thank you
Since Xenoblade 3 is coming out later this year, an episode on 2 could be fun. Particularly think Morytha would be really interesting.
Thanks for featuring my request! Great work as always Shesez, hope to see more on Elden Ring!
I'm willing to bet the Colosseum will be for a boss rechallenge DLC pack
Nobody gonna mention how this dude sounds almost exactly like Seth Green? Love these vids btw. I wish you'd have shown more of the dungeons in the overworld. They're so many of them it's amazing how they're spaced and kinda hoped to see what they look like underground.
It is refreshing to see camera footage in a sponsored segment.
I've recently been using the zip trick to access the outside/elevator parts of roundtable hold in Leyndell Capital of Ash once it's no longer accessible to the player, it would be neat to see the inside of that as I haven't had any luck getting to the important interior parts of it!
There's a bunch of shipwrecks off the coast of the weeping peninsula that look almost like a boss arena
Hoping we’ll see one for Kirby and The Forgotten Land! There’s so much detail and I’m incredibly curious about what could be hiding.
There is an island on the map that looks like it might exist if only you could get there. Its North Eastish from Liurnia Or South West of Altus. *Mild Spoiler*: There are some areas in the game that have map oddities/deliberate placement to look unreachable, but later on are shown to have a gate or other means of reaching them. Perhaps I missed something, but if not, I'm curious what's on the island. Some other mentions, there is a Whirlpool on the map in the north, it looks like it almost has a piece of land or stone in it, might be worth looking at as well. Kinda kicking myself for not getting the PC version to just check myself :(
I managed to get stuck in the body of one of those giant turtle things, I think they're called "walking mausoleum"s. Turns out the way to get into the building is not by jumping onto it from a nearby castle wall lol. When I opened the door to get inside, the walking animation continued while my character stayed in place to continue the door animation, and I clipped down into it.
Glad I could catch this video later rather then never. Great stuff my guy
After fighting the mini crusable knight in siofra, where you go to via magical stone key, i jumped down where the knight was standing. There was no direct death zone so my character fell through the void until i hit the sandbox deathzone
Jerren hood description tells you it's a mask. ALSO without spoilers you get a certain item that lets you alter legendary garments and you have the option to make jerrens mask into a armor helm that just looks like a normal knight helm with the mask on the face
So in the game there's 3 towers in which you need special stone keys one of them take you to a floating island and you can see all the towers can you see how the area loads there ,also when you can can you see how the tree looks in mid game to end game and same for the capital area, I'm trying not to spoil anything cause I have 120 hours and have done like everything so it's hard to not go in depth with my explanation but if you want more info on what I mean leave me a replay
Just found this video and I happened to go to the erdtree myself today by using the horse flying glitch. It's really cool how big they made that thing
I appreciate this video not spoiling anything, because I havent been able to play this game yet, thanks
I have no idea how from software thought "lets just make everything you can't see extremely textured, what the fuck is conserving resources"
I would like to see an out of bounds video of the original prey and dead space 2.
As soon as i went through that dungeon in the shunning grounds, all i could think about is how it looks from the outside and was hoping you would show that. Wasn't expecting it so soon though.
I think the ground sticks around in a lot of places because of the long range of rune collection.
Imagine taking an elevator and seeing a whole bunch of runes collected because all the still-loaded enemies fell to their death
Two things I'd like to see is if there is any part of a model under the ground of the corpse under stormveil castle, and if the entrance to Nekron is always under Limgrave.
This is awesome. I bet there are certain story elements related to these secrets that the devs knew we would eventually find. Like the mark on that dudes forehead or rannis rope. Very interesting.
part two? make this a 40 part series. i need it. many thanks
There's so many people that have not even seen everything the game actually wants us to see, and now we get to see the things that are hidden. This game could offer a lot of content to Out of Bounds channel.
Every time I think I've found everything, I stumble on to something new. It's actually amazing how much 'stuff' this game has!
I could just finish the game but I don't want to yet.
