  • There has emerged a lot of aftermarket copies for the steering torque sensors. In this video, we explain the differences between the copies and original equipment manufacturer sensors. You definitely want to replace this with an OEM unit. Power Steering Seals only provides you with OEM units! We never sell aftermarket copies.

Wouldn't both tabs slide into the same groove on the shaft? They would be locked in place in relation to each other. Why is it a problem that the aftermarket discs can spin "independently"? What are the downsides of using an aftermarket sensor? With the prices being $400 for an OEM, and $100 for an aftermarket, it is important to know what the tradeoffs are.

Yes, both slide into the keyway on the shaft. But the torque disc tab is smaller allowing a plus/minus 5 degree of movement. The aftermarket do not allow for this movement. The discs are 'together' on the aftermarket. The aftermarket are not complying with the OE design for the system.

@@powersteeringseals4085Thanks for the blazing fast reply! I get it now, the 5deg play wont be there on the aftermarket. Any drivability or safety issues with the aftermarket sensor?

@@robbiesz Driveabiltiy/Safety-Don't know. But, for $100 difference in price, I wouldn't put my family in a car with the aftermarket.
