At least that’s how I think of it, but the “W” words are not directly mentioned in the Bible as far as I know so the definition is a bit debatable
I think the same thing. My life has changed in so many positive ways and with the help of God I’ve gotten out from under the most awful sin that was controlling my life. I think one of the things that can lead one to question their own salvation is hearing that to be truly saved requires us to do this or that or not to do this or that. However by focusing on what we need to do or not do does just that. It puts the focus on us instead of where it should be, which is on the Lord Jesus Christ and trusting Him fully and completely.

@@ostapantonez9544 dear friend you are terribly wrong. First of all in the verse you quoted Christ is talking to his Disciples which were already believers(already saved), he wasn’t telling them about how you get to heaven but rather how you SHOULD live in fellowship with him after you believed. You are mixing Salvation which is free with discipleship which is for people who are already saved and could cost you everything. (eph2:8-9) (Romans6:23) (John:3:16) and countless other verses. @@ostapantonez9544 It's true that genuine faith is backed up by action but the action isn't necessarily law keeping. James chapter 2 is the most common Scripture I see used to browbeat addicts and habitual sinners (not the same thing as willful sinners) into thinking that their salvation is balanced on the edge of a knife. Fortunately for us, James provides examples of someone whose works validate their faith. One of them was the PROSTITUTE Rahab, proving that you can be in a sinful lifestyle but your works can still validate your faith. Her work was simply letting spies into Jericho. That's nowhere in the law of the profits or the law of Christ, yet, that's what show she believed God. I appreciate that you use John 14 but I also think we must ask ourselves what Jesus is teaching. What does Jesus want us to obey? What is the gospel of John all about? You can largely summit up in John 3:16. This is clarified in the very first verse in John chapter 14 where he tells his apostles not to be troubled because they BELIEVE in God. The teaching Jesus wants us to obey is to trust the father and believe upon him. Romans 7:15-17 makes it clear that sin still lives in the believer. It states: "15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. " Habits and addictions are no longer the nature of the one in Christ but the result of sin, through the fallen world, still living within us. Please don't misunderstand. I'm not saying that we should strive to live as Rahab or that we should not take steps towards ridding ourselves of addictions and bad habits. These are certainly steps every Christian should take to be within the will of the father. However, they do not affect our salvation anymore. The work of our salvation is finished. Backdoor legalism is still legalism. We do not want to leave people with the impression that they are initially saved by grace but they better hold on tightly to that salvation because you can lose it based on your own works. It's not biblical and it cheapens the grace of God. God bless!

Yes, but that is simplistic... Because it depends on what you mean when you say belief. And how do you know belief, your own and others? It must be acted, "you will know them by their fruits." Matthew 21:28-32 says a man had two sons that he asked to go work the field. One said yes, then didn't go. The other said no, then did. Which did the will of the father? Or put differently, which one believed? You are right about believing in your heart, but I urge you to be attentive to what that means. It must be acted. Belief in Jesus means you believe IN Him with your thoughts, with your words, and and with your actions. May the Lord bless you always!
@@II47924 yes, but what you're saying and what I'm saying aren't mutually exclusive. You can do all the good works imaginable and God can decide to save you or not. That's His prerogative; we are sinners and He is Holy and just. But, the way we have faith is not simply mental. It is enacted. That is my point. James 2:14-26 teaches us this. It's a long passage and all of it relevant, but this is the heart of it: "show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds... Faith without deeds is dead." or Matthew 7:18-20 "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit nor a bad tree good fruit. Every good tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. @@TodaysDante yes, this. that being said, the parable of the seed and the sower (Matthew 13:1-23) is spoken that way, and Jesus describes the word of God as a seed, because of the way it has an effect on our hearts (the different paths). when the word of God truly flourishes in your heart, you will start to grow in the direction of God's word, because the word guides us (John 16:13). And it is God's word that is eternal life (John 6:63, John 6:68). John 17:3 says "And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." How can we know God and Christ without the words they give? And how can we accept them when we dont allow them into the heart? And how can we allow them into the heart if we are not willing to change our ways? I think its dangerous to think works are the key, and I think its dangerous to think also that works are meaningless, because through the works, it shows not only yourself, but God that your heart is changed. Because God's word changes us. Ezekiel 36:26 "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh." I think this sums up works and faith. its both. (Matthew 7:15-20)
Maybe we don't have the full context in this video, but I think it's a bit of stretch to say "if you're worried about whether you're actually saved, you're saved". I wouldn't want someone thinking "I used to be worried about whether I was saved, so that means I must be saved, so I'm all set now". I think of the rich young ruler in Mark 10:17-27 for example. He was concerned about whether he was saved, and yet I think Jesus made it clear that he was not saved. I'm reminded of Philippians 2 where Paul says to "work out your salvation with fear and trembling". I think we always need to have a certain amount of concern and self-examination about our status before God. But I would say "if you're worried about whether you're actually saved, that's a good sign".

1 John 3:9 No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. John shows that the “seed” abiding in the redeemed has this causality result. Those born of God cannot or is unable/ not able to do certain things. Cannot- οὐ δύναμαι - not able 1 John 3:10 By this it is EVIDENT who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever DOES NOT practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother. Practicing sin or the inability to do so is how John is describing what practicing righteousness looks like as he describes in 3:10. Evidence seems vital here, just as James said - “What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?” This dilemma comes around again in 5:18. Again those born of God do not practice sinning in direct contrast to 5:16. The contacts is wrapped around while the believer is unable to do certain things, the unbeliever, the opposite in the description is capable of sin unto death. Sin unto death is declared as possible but then John says the redeemed do not commit that sin. In-fact, he declares confidence in those who can know they have ETERNAL LIFE in 5:13-14 And John explicitly tells us why he’s writing these words to that church. 1 John 5:13-14 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that YOU MAY KNOW that you have eternal life. [14] And this is the confidence that we have toward him,… This seems to line up with consistent christian behavior throughout scripture with other authors. Paul says - 1 Corinthians 12:3 Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says "Jesus is accursed!" and no one can say "Jesus is Lord" except in the Holy Spirit. No ability to curse Christ. John also declares a contrast distinction where one group born of God behave a certain way with inabilities to practice sin, he also describes what the unbelieving world is under. 1 John 5:19 We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. The unredeemed lay in the power of Satan, unprotected and vulnerable. This means the redeemed are shielded, protected from the evil that consumes them. 1 John 5:18 We know that everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him. How do we KNOW who has this behavior? 1 John 5:1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God,… From the text the authors tell us the redeemed - Not able to practice sin unrepentantly. - Cannot curse God - Protected from the evil one. - John 8:12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will NOT walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." In greek “whoever” is ὁ ἀκολουθῶν - “the one following”. Not whoever. Its an active verb, not an open ended choice. Those who are. “the one following WILL NOT walk in darkness” Just as John repeats in 1 john 3:9 that those born of God, Gods seed within them, (in the greek) are NOT ABLE to practice sin. Salvation comes with assurance because of the absence of sinful behavior carried out also reassures us of HE who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. 1 John 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may KNOW that you have eternal life. Not only do we have behavioral distinctions but we have assurance because of those behavioral distinctions called out. If this were about Jesus explicitly and descriptively then John is creating two negatives that don’t tie together. Paul echoes John… Ephesians 1:13-14 ESV In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were SEALED with the promised Holy Spirit, [14] who is the GUARANTEE of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. You’re not sealed because you did something. Your sealed because he saved you and That ->>> Salvific reality produces evidence not because you “willed” to do so but because God “wills” in and through you for his great pleasure.
The glory belongs to God for our salvation. Matthew 5:15-17 👑 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden." "Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house." "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
1 John 1 KJV 🩸 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
If you’re concerned that you’re unsaved, it might be the conviction of the Holy Spirit pressing on you to receive Jesus and become born again. The born again experience is a physical thing. You cannot receive the spirit of the living God and not know about it. This isn’t to discourage anyone but to encourage you that there most likely is a reason for that “gut feeling” that you’re not saved. This physical world gives birth to physical life, so don’t be surprised that Jesus said you must be born of the spirit to enter heaven. I new in my mind and did truly believe for years that Jesus is Lord and the only way to heaven. But once I had the born again experience, I knew immediately that the whole of my life up until that point, I wasn’t actually saved.

Lord Jesus is Lord and the only way to salvation. Because it is the only one in which we can be born, and it is a more metaphysical than physical experience, but indeed not without an impact on our physical changes in the biochemistry of the brain and the entire nervous system in general.
what qualifies as being born again? The fruit of the Holy Spirit, you will notice when the Spirit is active. Does that mean discernment is available at every chance, no. But there should be some notable differences in life prior to Christ and life after coming to Christ.
“The notion that the salvation of Jesus is a salvation from the consequences of our sins, is a false, mean, low notion. The salvation of Christ is salvation from the smallest tendency or leaning to sin. It is a deliverance into the pure air of God’s ways of thinking and feeling. It is a salvation that makes the heart pure, with the will and choice of the heart to be pure. To such a heart, sin is disgusting. It sees a thing as it is,-that is, as God sees it, for God sees everything as it is. The soul thus saved would rather sink into the flames of hell than steal into heaven and skulk there under the shadow of an imputed righteousness. No soul is saved that would not prefer hell to sin.” Excerpt From Unspoken Sermons Series I, II, and III George MacDonald

For to him (a Christian) his sins are hell; he would go to the other hell to be free of them; free of them, hell itself would be endurable to him. For hell is God’s and not the devil’s. Hell is on the side of God and man, to free the child of God from the corruption of death. Not one soul will ever be redeemed from hell but by being saved from his sins, from the evil in him. If hell be needful to save him, hell will blaze, and the worm will writhe and bite, until he takes refuge in the will of the Father. ‘Salvation from hell, is salvation as conceived by such to whom hell and not evil is the terror.’ But if even for dread of hell a poor soul seek the Father, he will be heard of him in his terror, and, taught of him to seek the immeasurably greater gift (freedom from sin), will in the greater receive the less (freedom from hell). - George MacDonald
I've been studying the bible (finally made it a priority). I'm struggled a lot with the "Hard Sayings" and questions around Predetermination that arise from The Gospel of John. And, they force me into asking this very question. I am glad to get a well-thought out and positive answer to it. Thanks
When I first got saved, I asked the same question. Church family gave me several scriptures, but ultimately the Holy Spirit answered my question when He led me to Romans chapter 8. Specifically, verse 16. Thank You Abba Father God, Abba Father Son, Lord Jesus and Abba Father Holy Spirit for showing me. Ask God and He will answer you. Papa loves it when we ask Him questions concerning His Word.
The demonic doctrines of Calvinism had me constantly worrying that I was not one of the elect and therefore could not be saved. Thank God that I turned away from Reformed theology and now know that I am saved!
I just spoke with a pastor who's from the Calvinist Reformed Church. I said that I would go so see one of their services. Please tell me, what should I look out for?
Demonic huh? Except for that one pesky thing, what is it again??... Oh yeah the Word of God Ephesians 1:4 For He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless in His presence. In love Ephesians 1:5 He predestined us for adoption as His sons through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of His will, Ephesians 1:11 In Him we were also chosen as God's own, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything by the counsel of His will Acts 13:48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed Romans 8:30 And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified. John 3:27 John replied, "A man can receive only what is given him from heaven. John 6:37 Everyone the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never drive away. John 6:44 "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day John 6:65 Then Jesus said, "This is why I told you that no one can come to Me unless the Father has granted it to him
I’m in a reformed church. I don’t agree with the theology but I do like the verse by verse preaching. The church is a real loving community of brothers and sisters in Christ. Connor you will hear all about the sovereign of God! It gets confusing.
Lol my comment got removed and it was nothing but Bible verses. That makes sense though, because scripture clearly reveals the total Sovereignty of God in electing who he will save. Not very thick skin from the arminian
This video is timely as I have been asking myself this lately. I've been in a protracted and torturous season where I feel totally abandoned by the Lord. I've been angry at God for this because it makes no sense why it's all happening to me at once and my prayers fall flat. I've been venting at Him and not in such a nice way, TBH. Also, I've watched many testimonials where people have said they were shown hell in a vision and saw many Christians there - including those who had unresolved anger, resentment and unforgiveness when they died, and therefore they did not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. The Scriptures do seem to contradict themselves in many ways, which I struggle with a lot. I'm afraid I will become part of the apostasy, which I'm dreadfully worried about. That's the last thing I want.
I've been there, too. Pretty much could have written it myself. Perhaps I can talk you through some things? Did you commit to pursuing a clear conscience (repent)? Were you immersed fully in water? And did you receive the Holy Spirit?
@@dman7668 if your talking to me? Please enlighten me. I’m thinking I know what you’re going to say, and I’m thinking I know what label you ware. Deal with them from time to time, nothing but success stories.
While a witness from the Spirit might be real there is something crucial missing in this response. John wrote his first epistle to "those who believe in the name of the Son of God" that they may know they have "eternal life" 1 John 5:13. Repeatedly in his letter he answers that very question, "Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him." 1 John 2:3-4 I'm 100% for defending the faith, but I would argue that "showing Christianity is true" is demonstrated through the fruit of the Spirit, not well-crafted arguments for the faith.
There is a sin i struggle with and the holy spirit helps me not do it but sometimes i do this sin.i know i'm saved because i accted Jesus and i feel the spirit in me
Amen, you should want to be pleasing to God, you should care about how God feels about your life. You should know what God cares about, and not only want to live out your faith but actually live it out. 1 John 3:6-9
This helped so much and confirms alot what ive been going through. Even tho ive still need to get my hands ona bible, when i prayed for the first time, i prayed for that people recognize my personality more than my looks as ive always felt empty by empty compliments from others. None saw 'me' (which i really think what i mean 'me' is the works of jesus in me). Im glad.. that porn is not controlling iver me as it was before, my mind is clearer now and i see people for who they are and that i have the best interest in them to love the person behind the sins and their goodness.. I know I'm saved because I can rely on the promises of the perfect God and how He works in my life. I pray all those with hard hearts may learn to let go and truely come to know You Lord, and to love You as you first loved them. Jesus lives ♥️ and is God 🙏🏻 Christ ✝️ and King 👑
Nobody has an absolute assurance of salvation. Anybody who says they do seems to know how God will judge them before it has happened. I find that absurd. Nobody can know until the moment of judgement.
What does it mean to have "belief in"? It means to believe the message Jesus preached about the Kingdom of God. There are a few places where Jesus is teaching and then it says "yet when they heard this many believed in him". They weren't believing in his life, death and resurrection. They were believing what he SAID. He was telling everyone how to enter the Kingdom of God. Thise who believed would obey his teaching, repent, be immersed and live a new life. Those who did not believe (like the Pharisees) would not obey, not repent, not be immersed and not live a new life. It was all made possible by the coming sacrifice of Jesus just as in David's day and Abraham's day and every other, but the message of trusting God to redeem and obeying his will was always there.
Old KJV I John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
What do you believe about Jesus? Did He die for all of your sins? If you believe it's how you live you're trusting in yourself. If you believe your sins are forgiven because Jesus paid for all of them then you're saved. You can't go to hell when your sins are forgiven. If you need to straighten up your life you're trusting in yourself because you know you aren't forgiven because you don't believe.
- I understand the point you're trying to make, but you're not correct. Jesus Himself commanded us to Repent. In Philipians 2:12 we're told to "work out our own salvation".. This means the battle we were born in is one against sin itself, and temptation is a daily fight. For Christians. The world does not care. We can't play the hippocrite and call ourselves saved if we continue blissfully in sin. Once saved, always saved is true, but be careful of being the ones Jesus turns away on the Judgement day because He "never knew you".
@@nameyourchannel7844 No, once saved always saved isn't true I'm afraid. I wish it was but the scriptures reject this and so should you. It's just false teaching.
Well the Bible doesn't contradict itself. We're forgiven for all sins when we believe. We aren't praying for justification. Scripture teaches that sins can effect our prayers for what we ask. 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses

God be thanked this issue is addressed many times in the Bible and God has given many indicators of how to tell if you are or someone else is saved. 10 In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. 1 John 3:10 It really comes back to the tried and true saying “You will know them by their fruits”. If you fight hard against all sin in the name and hope of Jesus Christ, you are of God. Those who don’t are not of God
To get salvation, one need to be purified from sins. And, in 1john 1:7, it is said that jesus blood had purified all our sins, right? No, there are contradictory verses to show how we are purified and our sins are forgiven; ie. a. We also need to confess as in 1john 1:9, it says that if we confess our sins, he (god) is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness, and b. in ezekiel 18:22 which says, 'But if we (committing sins) turn away from all the sins we have committed and keeps all god decrees and does what is just and right, that we will surely live (forgiven); we will not die. None of our sins will be remembered against them'. These verses also show how we are purified and our sins are forgiven, right?
@@mattslater2603 A person (committing sins) turn away from all the sins committed and keeps all god decrees and does what is just and right, in accordance with ezekiel 18:22, is "not of god"? How is that?
thanks we/i needed to hear that ...that conviction/conflicted thoughts /worry of knowing that you know that you know your saved(have no doubt) shows you are saved...and that is why your conflicted when you sin/do the wrong things even when you think no one is watching in todays language as i take Jesus' words to mean do the right things even though i am not physically standing right there watching your every move...in other words off on a tangent thought- - do the right thing all the time or as judge judy says on tv if you dont lie then you wont have worry about trying keep all the lies you have told straight...or in todays language you wont have to wonder if you have been forgiven of your sins/transgressions are saved through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross...in other words you take God=Jesus at his word that what he says is and will always be...
Yes, this is missing the rest of the gospel that says you must be born of water and spirit in order to enter Heaven. You must be baptized to be saved. Let's not ignore the details here.

@@JenDeVoreRichter Yes, as a matter of fact the bible says we can increase in our holiness through sanctification. Thus proving our justification increases..which means the protestant doctrine of Justification by faith alone is just false. Because the protestant doctrine of sola fide says one can never increase in justification, contradicting the bible. See below: 2 Corinthians 3:18 "And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with 👉ever-increasing glory,👈 which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." We see here that sanctification leads to increased righteous/holiness/justification. Contradicting the doctrine of sola fide. Ergo Sola Fide is false because it contradicts sanctification.
@@dman7668baptism WILL be desired and happen for those that are born again in almost all circumstances, because the Holy Spirit will lead a person to that. What are your thoughts, though, about the thief on the cross beside Jesus...I notice he didn't get baptized, and was accepted by Jesus anyway - the heart was the issue, not the outer form of baptism, which yes, is a witness to the work of God in a person's life. My heart is not to attack you with theology, but to hear your genuine thoughts here. The thief is why I believe baptism is something we are called to but is also merely an (important) outer sign. There are many who have accepted Christ at the very end with no time for baptism. I do not believe that if genuine, they will be condemned. But I desire your thoughts. 🙏 Thanks.
I'm really sad Frank just can't just give the straight truth as Jesus answered this question, John 3:3 “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” When you are born again your inner man, or inner spirit, changes completely. What used to give you pleasure now causes you pain. Sins you used to enjoy now make you sick. If you ask someone "Are you born again" they will know the answer immediately as a straight YES when they are born again. There will be no doubt in your mind after it happens. I pray you all get there one day. God bless.

I know I'm truly saved because , I have been reborn and am no longer the man I used to be. He died a long time ago. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil
Nah you are saying that you are saved cause you changed... Well, even hitler could have been saved, yup. Know why? Cause the blood of Jesus covers sin, not us.❤
No he is not right, just because you are worried about your Salvation does not show that you are saved! Pray to God for the answer because you may not be saved.
I think he's right, just in a nuanced way. Meaning. If you are worried about being saved and your salvation, then you understand Jesus and repentance. Take that a step further, if you know you are worried about being saved, and you know Jesus, then as you said. That will lead you, to pray to God, because you know that you cannot be saved. In my opinion anyway.

There's Biblical descriptors of a Christian. Transformation, sanctification, the fruit of the spirit, conviction, a love for Christ and the bretheren and a lasting faith. Above all we have God's promise. If you have repented of yourself by turning from yourself and your ways and turned to Christ for His forgiveness, mercy, grace, have believed on Him and His work only for your salvation then you will be saved and your heart, mind and life will begin and continue to show it.
You do have to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. We have an initial justification by faith, and then that justification is completed by your good works, or as you the protestant would say "sanctification " it's really just semantics.
@@festushaggen2563 You do have to earn salvation. Not based on strict merit. But because eternal life is a reward. It's not by faith alone James 2:24. You see how a man is justified by his works and not by faith alone. I never said you could earn salvation based on strict merit.
@dman7668 That's strange. In Acts 16:30-31 the prison keeper asks Paul what He must do to be saved and Paul told him to believe on Christ. No mention of works. Guess Paul got it wrong huh?
@@festushaggen2563 Listen, we can play bible tennis, if you want. Allow me to explain that believing in Jesus isn't merely believing in him. It entails believing what he taught and obeying him. I think we can both agree that merely believing in Jesus is a bit overly simplistic and obviously there is more to it then that. I just want us to be careful here about watering down the faith with an example in the Bible that isn't about watering down the faith. I think we can both be reasonable there.
He breaks it down every seminar so it's pretty easy to follow. Jesus existed, he really lived, taught and died on a cross. There were eyewitness accounts and non-Christian sources attesting to it. There were also the same accounts attesting to Jesus being seen after he is known to have died. There's all kinds of minutiae and small things as well and they add up. The question then becomes whether or not you personally believe what's been laid out.
The evidence of our salvation is 'the record of God's Son', the word of God, more particularly, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which tells us that Jesus died for our sins and to 'believe only'.
It's the "and if you want to follow Jesus" that separates though, doesn't it? Many ask themselves the question "Am I saved". But that CAN'T mean they're automatically saved. That response basically permits any worldview that exalts the self-perception to Truth. I think it is ONLY when one asks that question in relation to CHRIST, can their doubt be assuaged. I have only seen this clip, not the whole talk, but this answer may confuse people like the questioner. Frank's answer espouses "believism". thanks. Love your content, Frank. It is a blessing. This post is me cross-examining this point :)
Hold on: If I'm worrying if I am saved or not, I am safe? How does he come to that conclusion? If I am saved or not can only be known by myself and God. What about If I fool myself? What determines then how I am saved?
That is probably the most accurate comment Ive read here. We dont know if we are saved. Jesus will judge us when that time comes. Anybody that declares themselve saved, doesn't know the gospel and/or Jesus
John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned… God wants this from us: - To be humble before him. - To realize that we are unworthy sinners; we don’t deserve to live in the pure glorious beauty of Heaven with the almighty, holy, sovereign Creator. - To be thankful for Jesus sacrificing himself on the cross to pay the price for our sins. - To feel sorry for our sins. - To make a commitment to try to be more Christlike and stay away from sin. - To realize that he loves us and that we have immense value to him. - To realize that when Jesus rose from the dead he not only proved that he is the Son of God, but also that we too can have eternal life by trusting in him. - To accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. If we do that… Boom… We are saved! Pretty cool. We can ALL get to Heaven NOT because of what WE DO but because of what JESUS DID. That is the good news of the gospel of salvation thru Christ. It boils down to Jesus saying “I love u. Please trust me”.
If you have a relationship with Jesus or not, you know. And if you have a relationship with Jesus, are you committed to do your part in keeping that relationship going? You don't know the end of your life, but do you love God today, and do you intend to keep on loving God? You can answer that question. And if you do remain faithful to God to the end, you will be saved. Right now, if you have a relationship with Jesus, you are obedient to God and not sinning (1 John 2:3-4). That's being "saved" _from sin_ precisely (see Matthew 1:21 and John 8:34-36). (I may not make further replies on this thread.)

It's simply not true Frank, that if someone is concerned that they have belief IN, and not only belief THAT, that they automatically have belief IN; Frank you simply don't know this; John Welsey was very well versed with doctrine and might have thought himself saved, before he actually was.
Well said. When one mixes Justification and sanctification(discipleship) the believer will fall into despair. Law and Gospel should never be mixed.

And just remember you “misuse” God grace every single day of youre life when you sin. I will pray you see the truth. God bless you
@@ostapantonez9544 It's true that genuine faith is backed up by action but the action isn't necessarily law keeping.

I wouldn't want someone thinking "I used to be worried about whether I was saved, so that means I must be saved, so I'm all set now". I think of the rich young ruler in Mark 10:17-27 for example. He was concerned about whether he was saved, and yet I think Jesus made it clear that he was not saved. I'm reminded of Philippians 2 where Paul says to "work out your salvation with fear and trembling". 1 John 3:9
No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God.
John shows that the “seed” abiding in the redeemed has this causality result. Those born of God cannot or is unable/ not able to do certain things.
Cannot- οὐ δύναμαι - not able
1 John 3:10
By this it is EVIDENT who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever DOES NOT practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.
Practicing sin or the inability to do so is how John is describing what practicing righteousness looks like as he describes in 3:10.
Evidence seems vital here, just as James said - “What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?”
This dilemma comes around again in 5:18.
In-fact, he declares confidence in those who can know they have ETERNAL LIFE in 5:13-14
And John explicitly tells us why he’s writing these words to that church.
1 John 5:13-14
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that YOU MAY KNOW that you have eternal life. [14] And this is the confidence that we have toward him,…
This seems to line up with consistent christian behavior throughout scripture with other authors.
Paul says -
1 Corinthians 12:3
Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says "Jesus is accursed!" and no one can say "Jesus is Lord" except in the Holy Spirit.
No ability to curse Christ. John also declares a contrast distinction where one group born of God behave a certain way with inabilities to practice sin, he also describes what the unbelieving world is under.
1 John 5:19
We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.
The unredeemed lay in the power of Satan, unprotected and vulnerable. This means the redeemed are shielded, protected from the evil that consumes them.
1 John 5:18
We know that everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him.
How do we KNOW who has this behavior?
1 John 5:1
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God,…
From the text the authors tell us the redeemed
- Not able to practice sin unrepentantly.
- Cannot curse God
- Protected from the evil one.
- John 8:12
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will NOT walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
In greek “whoever” is ὁ ἀκολουθῶν - “the one following”. Not whoever. Its an active verb, not an open ended choice. Those who are.
“the one following WILL NOT walk in darkness”
Just as John repeats in 1 john 3:9 that those born of God, Gods seed within them, (in the greek) are NOT ABLE to practice sin.
Salvation comes with assurance because of the absence of sinful behavior carried out also reassures us of HE who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
1 John 5:13
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may KNOW that you have eternal life.
Not only do we have behavioral distinctions but we have assurance because of those behavioral distinctions called out. If this were about Jesus explicitly and descriptively then John is creating two negatives that don’t tie together.

Great explanation. When you know, you know.
But once I had the born again experience, I knew immediately that the whole of my life up until that point, I wasn’t actually saved.

what qualifies as being born again?
No soul is saved that would not prefer hell to sin.”

Absolutely, I struggle with this often. Sometimes I feel like I have assurance that I’m saved and it makes me feel at peace and comfortable, but then I begin worrying “should I feel peace and comfort”, or “what if it’s false assurance”, and then I’m caught back and forth between these thoughts and it’s hard to shake them either way. Glad to hear I’m not alone👍
@@leewong7421 And all the people out there with weird takes on it certainly don't help, they just make it more confusing lol
Very nice explanation.

To believe is to commit. Take up your cross and follow Jesus.
I've been studying the bible (finally made it a priority). I'm struggled a lot with the "Hard Sayings" and questions around Predetermination that arise from The Gospel of John. And, they force me into asking this very question. I am glad to get a well-thought out and positive answer to it. Thanks

Every thing you said is proof that you know him, except for you may be thinking there’s contradictions in the Bible? There are none.
I've been there, too. Pretty much could have written it myself. Perhaps I can talk you through some things?
Did you commit to pursuing a clear conscience (repent)? Were you immersed fully in water? And did you receive the Holy Spirit?

While a witness from the Spirit might be real there is something crucial missing in this response. John wrote his first epistle to "those who believe in the name of the Son of God" that they may know they have "eternal life" 1 John 5:13. Repeatedly in his letter he answers that very question, "Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him." 1 John 2:3-4
I'm 100% for defending the faith, but I would argue that "showing Christianity is true" is demonstrated through the fruit of the Spirit, not well-crafted arguments for the faith.

Believing means doing what God says. Not merely agreeing with what he says.

If Jesus died for all our sins then why pray the our father asking God to forgive us our sins? 😅

To get salvation, one need to be purified from sins. And, in 1john 1:7, it is said that jesus blood had purified all our sins, right?
No, there are contradictory verses to show how we are purified and our sins are forgiven; ie.
a. We also need to confess as in 1john 1:9, it says that if we confess our sins, he (god) is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness, and
b. in ezekiel 18:22 which says, 'But if we (committing sins) turn away from all the sins we have committed and keeps all god decrees and does what is just and right, that we will surely live (forgiven); we will not die. None of our sins will be remembered against them'.

Yes, as a matter of fact the bible says we can increase in our holiness through sanctification. Thus proving our justification increases..which means the protestant doctrine of Justification by faith alone is just false. Because the protestant doctrine of sola fide says one can never increase in justification, contradicting the bible.
See below:
2 Corinthians 3:18
"And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with 👉ever-increasing glory,👈 which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."
We see here that sanctification leads to increased righteous/holiness/justification. Contradicting the doctrine of sola fide. Ergo Sola Fide is false because it contradicts sanctification.

@dman7668 Uh no. That's "work out", not "work for" your salvation. Big difference.
@@festushaggen2563 You do have to earn salvation. Not based on strict merit. But because eternal life is a reward. It's not by faith alone James 2:24. You see how a man is justified by his works and not by faith alone. I never said you could earn salvation based on strict merit.

Remain faithful unto death and you will be given the crown of life Revelation 2:10
Paul echoes John…
Ephesians 1:13-14 ESV
In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were SEALED with the promised Holy Spirit, [14] who is the GUARANTEE of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
You’re not sealed because you did something. Your sealed because he saved you and That ->>> Salvific reality produces evidence not because you “willed” to do so but because God “wills” in and through you for his great pleasure.
And if I don't get it, where do I complain?

The last part of the video is key.
Are you looking for how to get saved according to what the Bible teaches? Let me know if you'd like to have a conversation on the topic.
Then again, the fruits of the Spirit must be manifest in a person that is saved.
For what ?
Love this guy I've never met, wisdom received.
That was great, thank you for the explanation.
I don't think we can ever "KNOW" we are saved. I've been questioning it my whole life.
That is probably the most accurate comment Ive read here. We dont know if we are saved. Jesus will judge us when that time comes. Anybody that declares themselve saved, doesn't know the gospel and/or Jesus
John 3:16-18
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned…
God wants this from us:
- To be humble before him.
I Know I am saved. I will Be in Heaven. Cuz my Salvation depends on Jesus' righteousness. And its in me. I'm not gonna lose it.

@@yestothetruth I search for him and try to find him... but I don't get any answers.
Please pray for my daughter, son in law and lost souls 🙏 😔
Ah, the wide, easy road walkers...😢
Straight is the path and narrow is the gate. And only few shall find it. I try to share the truth, most people wont hear it. They like Pauls easy route.
Thank you.....
Amen 🙏 brother we can’t fool the Holy Spirit, but boy can we fool ourselves into believing that we are saved just because we were born Christian’s or in other words we inherited Christianity like many Christians such as myself believed in the past prior to the storm GOD allowed into my life! But also let me say this that GOD never gives up on us and it pleases him not that any should parish !
I agree with this message
Apostol Paul was worried that he didn't reach the point of Salvation (resurrection of the Saints), but Protestants today seem not to have problem with it.. In Bible, Salvation was mentioned in past, present and future tense!
Hilarious point 😅
What is it that makes someone a Christian?
@@TheGuy.. the better question is: what is it that keeps someone Christian..
@@bubamarac1 That sounds like you believe people lose their salvation.
But Jesus said that of those the Father gives me, I lose none.
@@TheGuy.. But the one who endures to the end WILL BE saved. (Matt 24:13).
