Emppu is such a loveable goofball, and an amazingly talented Guitarist, never looking to upstage anyone, always having fun and just a master of the High Strings. ^.-.^
Emppu is such a slave to the needs of the song, but damn he can play, Jukka's showmanship is amazing, and Marko's vocals, damn. I know I think this is the best version for sure!
I agree with you Nightwish version of High Hopes is my favorite it’s just on another level. I’m a 66 year old metal/rock and I’ve seen Pink Floyd live and they will always be one of my favorite live bands. Tuomas touch of creating a new way of expressing emotion in not only his compositions but in not just covers of others music but of classic music. He truly is the Bach or some say the Mozart of our time. Great job!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Beautifull Marco Hietala amazing singer ..NIGHTWISH IS AMAZING BAND GREAT SINGERS AMAZING.SONGS AMAZING MUSICIANS ....AND TUOMAS GENIUS COMPOSER ....WE ARE NIGTHWISH ARMY ...AND FLOOR IS OUR QUEEN
Emppu is Awesome ❤️ His talent gets taken for granted sometimes, I believe, because his adorable personality eclipses it when we are watching. Sometimes I just close my eyes and let my ears soak up ALL the sounds of Nightwish Music ! (Circa: 1970's headphones in my bedroom floor just chilling). Marco is beyond earthly words !!! I will have to ask the Moon and the Stars !!!
The pathos of this performance, when they knew what was about to happen when the concert ended. There's an anger in this version and there's a reason for it.
@@ArabManReacts Now go back and watch the whole concert having that knowledge. It changes everything about the entire show and I remember how I watched it both before and after I knew what had happened (or at least why it happened). Great reaction!!! I like this version better, too. You need to check out "While Your Lips Are Still Red" Nightwish song that is in a movie. Marko sings and the song is so beautiful.
The great thing about this is that it really shows off the band behind the main vocalist - with the main vocalist off the stage, the rest of the band really shines through. I think Marco is at his best here - really shows that he is a top of the line vocalist. And Emppu rarely gets to shine as much as here. It's a great song, and they did a great version of it.

I could listen to him sing the phone book.....if we still had phone books....The single Song of My Father off his new solo project album is terribly moving and beautiful. It is more emotional in the original Finnish. You don’t have to know the language to see hear the power and feeling....but the Finnish language itself is so terribly beautiful. Aw cool, finally, with all the wonder of Nighwish, someone can also see how spectacular Jukka the drummer is or was. I’m hoping for him to return 🤟. My favorite 🤟
I know it's a year later, but I just discovered it. I agree with you totally. Jukka's drumming drives this song. Outstanding! However lamentably few reactors give him much credit. Love this song!!!
I miss Jukka. I'm a drummer myself and Jukka is one of my all time favorite metal drummers. he's so good and so animated. People don't often talk about drummers having stage presence, but Jukka has it in spades. He was always a huge influence on me in that regard. Watching him play always inspired me to be more animated on stage and made me want to be not only a better drummer but a showman as well. He is criminally underrated.
Question to anyone. We know now, but when you hear something like that for the first time at a concert with everything going on around you. Do you realise how awesome it is at the time?
They were all very somber here. It is my understanding that it was immediately after this performance that Tarja was fired. It was a unanimous decision by these four guys, and they all knew what was about to happen after the show. Knowing that now, I watch this, and their expressions carry a deeper meaning.
There's a documentation highlighting what was going on backstage in that End of an Era - tour. The situation with Tarja's friend/manager Marco Cabulli became unbearable for the band, because he decided to became Tarja's shadow, only separated on the brief moments on stage. His credo was that Tarja earned the major part of their revenues, because she had the biggest impact on their success. Tarja was spoiling her career because her fame depends not on that band alone. She can make it alone as well. Therefore Tarja will record only one more album before she is going to leave Nightwish, her manager told them. Tuomas seemed to be somber the entire documentation. You could literally emphasize the dissonance between the band and Tarja's manager at any situation they were all in. Nightwish+Tarja, the expected "perfect couple", divorced and Floor Jansen, was "not available" at that moment. She was still in her first "relationship" (After Forever) and also has been a close friend of Tarja. So a double no-go situation for Nightwish. Their new couple back then was simply a "nice" one at all. However Floor's "first love" perished and "After Forever" dissolved, leaving Floor desperately struggling with her new project "ReVamp". Being the manager as well as song writer and singer puts too much load on her shoulder. Eventually she suffered a burn-out crisis, forcing her to stop anything entirely before regaining her old confidence. Now with enough distance to the end of Tarja's era and with Floor in loose ties, came the perfect moment for their perfect match, which always has been Floor...the rest is history. Resumee: Tuomas felt offended, because Tarja wasn't 100% devoted to Nightwish and intended to start a side project. Anette was complaining about the exhausting program the band was imposing on themselves. She wished the band would slow down a bit and offer her the opportunity of a maternity break also, however without success. But recently things changed significantly. Now band members were encouraged, to have side projects and they also concede more breaks, e.g. Floor's maternity break...not a problem anymore. Tuomas was asked, how long the story of Nightwish is planned to continue? His answer was like "as long as Floor wants to stay with us". After her success at "Beste Zangers" TV show, Floor also was asked about her future plans..."no way that she will ever leave Nightwish voluntarily" after they were sharing the best time of her life with her.
@@MacZussie Just to clarify, I saw Floor saying that she planned her pregnancy for Nightwish's planned hiatus, rather than the other way around. (I don't recall if it was an interview, or perhaps mentioned in one of her quarantine chats.) But she said explicitly that she actually hadn't wanted to go on hiatus, but the rest of the band did and since she and Hannes were discussing a child, she decided she might as well use the hiatus to have a baby since they'd be taking the break either way.
Well, Tarja had given her notice, she was already leaving, her date was just set after next album's world tour. But Tuomas knew he would fire Tarja after this concert. It is quite obvious in Once album's lyrics and in the album's cover too: a weeping angel her head on the pillar that says: "Once" (Tarja's pseudonyme in NW is angel, also on the lyrics). Also the name of the concert is pretty clear. So at least Tuomas knew this long before.
One of the best Nightwish/ Pink Floyd songs. Marko really shines. It’s ok to be excited. It was the last show or close to it with Tarja. Of the the few reaction channels I watch, you are my favorite. The reactions are so pure and enthusiastic. They always brighten my day. There are a few cover songs that are better than the original and this I have to say is one of them. I would love some Pink Floyd reactions
I think you are a person of great personality and music taste and I enjoy watching these epic videos with you. Nightwish for us is a big part of our lives .I am proud of them and of being a fan. They are all great persons and excellent mucicians filling me with joy and emotions. Greetings from Greece.
I'm so glad someone finally comments on. Jukka. He is my absolute favorite drummer on the planet with the amount of passion he brings to his playing. Nightwish just isn't the same without him...
Nightwish's version of High Hopes is what Disturbed's Sound of Silence is, sadly it didn't get that popular. Also, currently binge watching your Nightwish reactions, love your genuine emotions and sense of humor!
I highly suggest you watch Ever Dream from this same show (End of an Era). This was the performance that made me a Nightwish fan years ago and I still love them to this day but it was Ever Dream that hooked me. I love Floor's take, she absolutely kills it, but the way Marco and Tarja belt the ending out in sync with each other is so freaking awesome. That's the exact moment that hooked me for life, only 3 songs in to the performance!
Thanks for this awesome reaction!! I have been requesting this song to so many reactors, but they never take the bait. Thank you so much for doing this one!! I heard this version first a while back, and then watched the original to see how it compared, and Yepn this Nightwish version was more to my liking. It got edgier and more intense as the song went on, but still had the bones of the Pink Floyd version. 😁
I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan also and hate when most bands do covers of them because they don't do them any justice. But I definitely love this more than the original
Love this so much. They are all super talented musicians that we are so lucky to have found. Empuu was fantastic. I want to hear Marco do covers of everything now lol
AMR...Great selection and reaction. They played this with much respect to the original. How many bands have had vocals that compare to Floor and Marco with a dash of Troy ? This was during the Anette ear I believe. More Marco of singing "The Islander" is also special. P.S.....I'm a David guy and we miss you Syd !
You're my favourite "reactor" and enjoyed the journey of you finally giving in to Nightwish (thanks Joey for guiding him) and falling in love with them one by one. One of the best bands that ever was and ever will be! Have checked out and listened to The JLP Show. You guys are great and before I listen to you, I make sure not to fill up on bread :) (FB ref).PS: the goose bumps effect was hilarious! :))))
@@ArabManReacts :) You two make a good team. Looking forward to more videos. Oh, I have a suggestion for you to react to: The HU, Wolf Totem (to start with). They are a Mongolian heavy metal band with a twist or two. I do hope you'll check them out sometime. You and your viewers WON'T be disappointed. Guaranteed :)
A wonderful concert... Almost 20 years have passed since then... Time flies. It seems like it was yesterday. And it's been almost 20 years... :( It's sad... very sad :( When did it happen?
I enjoy your Nightwish reactions and not knowing how to send a message your way.....I hope everyone is good after the explosion in Beirut 8/4/20 prayers to everyone.
Habibati! :) Glad you discovered this. :) Yeah, good to see "young" Nightwish. Trying to remember where/what I was then (I'm Marco's age. :O ;P ) . Still feel younger than that, but ... oh!.... for all that, .... & to be THAT now. ;)
Every Member of Nightwish brings and Brought something special to the Band that simply cannot be replicated anywhere else. And aye, if you think they look young here, you should see Nightwish in their EARLY years. They were all wee babies... Lord I feel old.. ^.-.^ But aye, if you want to look in on more Oldschool Nightwish, look into the Oceanbirn Album. There you will find many Classic Nightwish Sounds. ^.-.^
I whole heartedly agree with you i love this version more then the original and i have seen Floyd 3 times and have just about everything that they have put out . There is just somrthing about this version moves me
I prefer the Nighwish rendition. For me this rendition is fuller and stronger, with far greater depth. I go back to listen to the original, and with the deepest of respect to David Gilmor, I find the original thin and under orchestrated. The guys are so tight and Marko's vocals are so good, that for me this is a statement of "We know what we are about to do (in terminating Tarja) but we leave you with this to know that we will continue."
tbf, Floyd had a awesome equipment but you can't compare it to the digital-tec. So if you say "thin" it might just be because the song is about 50 yrs old. Just saying :)
@@Tearnofear High Hopes was released in 1994 by David Gilmor and written by him and his wife Polly Samson (she is a fantastic writer). They met because Polly had been brought on board to help write music for the album and that was how she and David met. It was the 2nd single released from Pink Floyd's 14th album "Division Bell"... only 25-yrs old...
"It's better from the original version" "Marco's vocal" I love that 😁✌️ He can sing too Not only growl, heavy or dark voice, but he can sing smooth too. Just listen "KISS WHILE YOUR LIPS ARE STILL RED" at Wembley Arena. Goosebump? I always do too 😅 And Emppu is amazing guitar player. Not only about his skill to play solo but he knows how put in every single grip when he plays.
The quality of your reaction to this is on par with the performance by all four artists. Well done. Loved that you gave a well deserved shout out to Jukka, someone we miss on stage despite Kai doing a really great job. We really have enjoyed all of your Nightwish reactions, but you nailed it with your emotions on this one. We also liked how the band did it their way, and though we love Pink Floyd and Dave, this one is very special to us. You and Joey stay safe and be well. Love it.
See the year 2000 concert "From Wishes to Eternity" - younger NW - this is mid age NW or matured NW already when they also are known by the world and international fans so well.
Emppu is a brilliant guitar player and like everyone in the band fulfills his part in this performance in an astonishing perfect way. By the way I like your comments a lot. Go on with it ;)
RUclips recommendations are often strange but this time I found your channel. Great reactions and regarding Nightwish, great music choices ;) May I introduce you to "Blind Guardian"? Live of course: The Bard's Song & Valhalla - Live at Wacken Open Air 2016. Greetings from Germany.
I love the original Pink Floyd version of this song, and Nightwish do just enough to make it their own whilst staying true to the original. I love both versions but I can't choose which I prefer. Also, don't forget to check out Marko's other epic "Kiss While Your Lips Are Still Red" (Live version at Wembley is mindblowing not just for Marko, but Troy shines too!)
salam aleikun even my faith have go down this year. but i have faith about your reactions and this was all i can dream about. this song so good, coz can see how good whole team are what they do in nightwish. you can see tuomas nod there one moment to emppu that go check jukka, maybe have broblem his head? sometimes cover can but more something to original and rise up sounding better. i think in this case nightwish but more drums and something else that this sound so good. ok thanx and have great weekend there both of you.
Yassss I had the same reaction to this version, wanting to go listen the original and thinking this version gets the feels more strongly. It feels like life, memory, all the... nostalgia of the old, enthusiasm of the youth, camaraderie, loss and slow disintegration, numbness, cycles, weariness and momentariness of life and all that, all those feelings are perfectly turned into music in this version. That this is a cover and the circumstances they're playing it in makes it all the more palpable, because you inevitably think back to what was and is and is becoming. The gritty nostalgia in this simply wrenches your gut.
The band only performed this cover a few times. This was from Tarja's last performance with Nightwish, they publicly fired her a few hours later. I'm pretty sure this was a musical firing, hence the emotional content.
I like that you noticed Emppu. I think most reactors either don't realize how good he is or just take it as a given.

Patrick! Thank you :D :D :D
I think you are a person of great personality and music taste and I enjoy watching these epic videos with you. Nightwish for us is a big part of our lives .I am proud of them and of being a fan. They are all great persons and excellent mucicians filling me with joy and emotions. Greetings from Greece.
You are now officially my favourite Nightwish reactor! Thank you for sharing x
You know when you are good when you are singing and no-one is saying where is 'Floor'.
hahaha YES!
🤘🤘❤🤘🤘😁✌🏼🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Catching up on a few I can't believe I missed it. This is actually my favorite version of this song!!!!! 💯😉
Marco singing "Tides" with Tarot is worth checking out too if you liked this one 🤗
will send to joe!
Hahaha, funny reaction with the Goosebumbs (chickenskin in our country), the Hat and the Straw. **Marko's voice is indeed fantastic**
chickenskin!
@@ArabManReacts yes, in the Netherlands we call it "chickenskin" (kippenvel ).😂😂
Hahahaha so funny reactions. Now you are a new fan. We ❣️ Nightwish!!! One more in the ARMY
It's one thing to emulate Gilmour's vocals, but EMPPU...DAMN!
Great reaction. 🤘😛🤘
Man, I have always loved the whole Division Bell album, and when I first heard this cover, it blew my mind. Great reaction, AMR!! - Subscriber #10
Thank you #10!
The ultimate dream would be Nightwish cover The Great gig in the sky XD
Nice reaction! If you want to hear Marco and Tarja singing together, I recommend The Phantom of The Opera in this same concert. 🔝🔥🔥
Selâmün aleyküm brother. Thank you for the reaction. Have a nice bayram mubarek. Peace from Istanbul.
yessss exactly. I've been listening to it non stop all day, it's toooooo good
I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan also and hate when most bands do covers of them because they don't do them any justice. But I definitely love this more than the original
Wonderful cover of a great song. Thank you for the great reaction!
Love this so much.
They are all super talented musicians that we are so lucky to have found. Empuu was fantastic.
I want to hear Marco do covers of everything now lol
me toooo
He does! Check out Northern Kings "We don't need another hero".
It is on my playlist. Thanks for the great reaction.
One correction this is the last show with Tarja.
@@hopegreer3357 Thanks for the info Hope
Good reaction and I agree with you to 100%. I like this version much more than the original- It blows me away every single time.
omfg what a great cover on a great song...im in tears..tx for your reaction
You're my favourite "reactor" and enjoyed the journey of you finally giving in to Nightwish (thanks Joey for guiding him) and falling in love with them one by one. One of the best bands that ever was and ever will be! Have checked out and listened to The JLP Show. You guys are great and before I listen to you, I make sure not to fill up on bread :) (FB ref).PS: the goose bumps effect was hilarious! :))))
hahahahaha You actually read the bands bio
@@ArabManReacts :) You two make a good team. Looking forward to more videos.
Oh, I have a suggestion for you to react to: The HU, Wolf Totem (to start with). They are a Mongolian heavy metal band with a twist or two. I do hope you'll check them out sometime. You and your viewers WON'T be disappointed. Guaranteed :)
I love your actual goosebumps lmao 🤣🤣🤣.. Great reaction! 😉
A wonderful concert... Almost 20 years have passed since then... Time flies. It seems like it was yesterday. And it's been almost 20 years... :( It's sad... very sad :(
When did it happen?
And after this show they fired the most uniqie and sophisticated singer they will ever get. And Marco was phenomenal here like always.
wanna see young Nightwish in full swing? look at wishmaster from end of an Era :)
Will check it out!
I enjoy your Nightwish reactions and not knowing how to send a message your way.....I hope everyone is good after the explosion in Beirut 8/4/20 prayers to everyone.
Thanks Gordon
Habibati! :)
Glad you discovered this. :)
Yeah, good to see "young" Nightwish.
But aye, if you want to look in on more Oldschool Nightwish, look into the Oceanbirn Album. There you will find many Classic Nightwish Sounds. ^.-.^
I whole heartedly agree with you i love this version more then the original and i have seen Floyd 3 times and have just about everything that they have put out . There is just somrthing about this version moves me
Very beautiful performance and i like this better than the original but that is my taste.
Only this version got me choked up.........
@@lakelili ah its newer than i thought, my bad.
@@Tearnofear lol... you just found the one song I do know about... I'm pretty sketchy on the details of most of the rest... have a great wekend.
"It's better from the original version"
"Marco's vocal"
I love that 😁✌️
He can sing too
Not only growl, heavy or dark voice, but he can sing smooth too. Just listen "KISS WHILE YOUR LIPS ARE STILL RED" at Wembley Arena.
Goosebump?
I always do too 😅
And Emppu is amazing guitar player. Not only about his skill to play solo but he knows how put in every single grip when he plays.
Love this version love Marco thankyou for doing this one it was great. Look forward to seeing you in the next one.
A great cover by a phenomenal band. 🤘
Love it.
Thank you! very very much., You really drew a smile on my face, I appreciate you taking the time to write what you did
Brilliant English accent btw 👌 great reaction again
Thank you! it's all the action movies a grew up watching :P
Wa alaykum al salam! Thank you, you too!
Gilmore said this is the huge honour and best version hes hear ever
Yay!
