After playing Tears of the Kingdom, not only was I blown away by the entire game, but I was inspired to write several different songs about it. One Ganondorf idea pushed above all the rest though, since I can't resist villain songs.... Besides, what's better than a villain who inevitably comes back over and over again, as a natural force instead of a misguided soul? This is the Demon King's confident song of immortality, despite a few frustrating, similarly eternal roadblocks.
Lyrics:
Bet you'd like to get the freak show started
But my moves work slow
There's a presence here that I've imparted
Centuries ago
When the chilling of the night first hits you
Then you'll know I'm there
You can try to have the legends fix you
But you won't be spared
Balance exists that calls through the abyss
And in the chaos I create again
Go ahead
Bury Me
I will not stay dead
Hold me down
Take my breath
I will thrive instead
Cheat the game
Break my stride
You'll see me again
Like the plague
I will spread
'Cause I won't stay dead
'Cause I won't stay dead
'Cause I won't stay dead
Flaunting danger like your head is empty
But I've watched and learned
You look like you never did expect me
As if tides don't turn
I've been known to win out with my patience
There's no cure for fear
You must think it's your imagination
'Cause the devil's here
Risen from bone as the spirits come home
When I awake with a message to send
Go ahead
Bury Me
I will not stay dead
Hold me down
Take my breath
I will thrive instead
Cheat the game
Break my stride
You'll see me again
Like the plague
I will spread
'Cause I won't stay dead
'Cause I won't stay dead
You recall
To the past
And ascend
This crevasse
Fused with power
Strong of will
Guided hands
Fail you still
All your might
Gone to waste
I will strike
Leave no trace
None can rise
In my stead
So why can't you just stay dead
Just stay dead
Stay dead
'Cause I won't stay dead
Stay dead
I will not stay dead
Go ahead
Bury Me
I will not stay dead
Hold me down
Take my breath
I will thrive instead
Cheat the game
Break my stride
You'll see me again
Like the plague
I will spread
'Cause I won't stay dead
'Cause I won't stay dead
'Cause I won't stay dead - Видеоклипы
I love how this paints Ganon as a villain who KNOWS his place in the cycle. He knows that he's the balancing force that keeps order from overwhelming the scale of balance. And he KNOWS he'll win eventually, if he keeps playing the long game. He won't remain dead. Eventually Link or Zelda wil slip up. And when they do, he wins and chaos gets it's turn on top of the scale for once.
Kinda makes me wish to one day get a spin-off LoZ game where we see what happens when it's the opposite, when Link or Zelda or both play the part of the villains and Ganon the part of the hero because Order overwhelmed the Scale. I know it would never happen but it would be interesting to see because with this whole "constant cycle" thing going on, surely there's at least ONE iteration where things didn't go as they normally do....
Hmm maybe play as Linkle trying to fulfill the prophecy even after Zelda and Link have lost @@charondusk5608
with what was done to him is he really the villain???????
@@zakbean6892 As he is literally the incarnation of Malice, specifically continuing in existence from the early days of the creation of existence to the current far-flung future, deliberately doing everything in his power to maim, murder, and destroy Zelda, Link, and everything they love... Yes.
@@zakbean6892 he is the reincartion of demise the demon king
Old Ganondorf shoulda gone for the head, cause not finishing the job gave Link the 30 minutes he needed to find a snack, a couple of twigs, and several dozen new reality breaking bugs to come back and beat his ass like he owes him a princess.

As someone who got all 18 memories before fighting Ganon in TOTK, I wasn't scared or surprised by his Demon King reveal. The heath bar still got me though.
As a long time Zelda fan I knew who the demon king was the moment I laid eyes on him in the games opening.
"Balance exists that calls through the abyss, and in the chaos I create again"
Is such a fantastic line. When we speak of balance we always think of restoring it, in manner positive. Set alight again flames that have waned. It's all the more despairing when you present something so linked to hope, to prosperity, and flip it upside down like this - remember that balance, a scale, has two sides. Remember that Ganon's continued influence over the world is an eternal struggle, Link's strife repetitive and his return a fact.
Everyone forgets that balance doesn't just mean good, it means that there's evil there too.
Like Star Wars.
"HE WILL BRING BALANCE TO THE FORCE." said the Jedi, among many, beljeving the Sith to be extinct.
"Is that a good thing?" Asked nobody.
@@selkiara1272 there was one I think who asked "Is that a good thing?"

@@selkiara1272 Post-ROTS: 2 Jedi, 2 Sith. Balance: Achieved. Galaxy: Screwed.
The "fused with power, strong of will" is just scratching something in my brain, I love this line so much
It's the next line of "Guided hands fail you still" that gets me
It's prolly because it's the abilities in game, guided hands, ultra hand, fuse and ascend and recall just being in the verse too
The inclusion of Gerudo Valley's melody at the end was a nice touch
I did not notice that until I read your comment and immediately had to go back and listen for it. Thank you!
I still don't hear it :(
@@whysoseri0us389 it's at 4:05. It's slowed down a bit and then goes into a bit of a synth solo, then back to Gerudo Valley til the end.
this song seems PERFECT for a lich. no matter how many times you kill em they wont STAY DEAD
Until you destroy their phalactery, but yes.
If you don't destroy that then they won't stay dead.
"You are strong, child, but I am beyond strength. I am the end."
I mean... Ganondorf is kinda like a lich himself.
I just listened to the song on the bandcamp page and if I wasn't told that this was inspired by Zelda I was feeling the vibes of an old vampire or lich king, looking to reclaim a kingdom that was once theirs.
Absolute banger of a song!
Considering how the curse works Ganondorf is a lich(sort of)
@@HollowedKnight66 Yeah, Ganondorf is effectively a lich. An unconventional one, but a lich. His physical form can be destroyed over and over, but his "phylactery" remains, meaning he just ressurects.
His phylactery being, either the land of Hyrule, the Gerudo desert, or the big honking Triforce of power. Really depends on how one looks at it, now that I'm even thinking of it this way. Kind of like how Dracula's phylactery in the Castlevania Series (Yes, he's a vampire, but phylactery is a good enough word/understandable concept) is his castle. Tldr: Bunch of bullshit I ran with because it's a cool way of thinking of it.
Edit: helps that ToK and BoW Gannon could be called a Lich King, what with his blood Moon sheniagians
@@adrianstrider4960 The way I always pictured it, they're tied to each other - no part of the Triforce can exist without the others, which means no part of the Triforce can really get rid of any other part. So Link & Zelda will never have more than temporary peace, because Ganondorf will always come back.
But whenever Ganondorf comes back, Link will be there to stop him. Even if Ganondorf manages to pull out a win, the cycle will come back around and a new Link will show up eventually.
You could do a song like this for any of the three, really.
think my favorite part about the song is how the subject changes
"I wont stay dead"
to
"So stay dead, I wont."
I just cannot get the "you look like you never did expect me, as if tides don't turn" line out of my head! Such a good song!
Always a good day when aviators release a new song
Precisely.
Indeed it is my friend.
Agreed.

WE MAKING IT OUTTA THE STORMWIND ARK WITH THIS ONE 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You know Ganon's on another level of strong when just waking up is enough to break up the entirety of Hyrule.
Too bad that strength stops at that in Totk...
Was quite disappointing imo
@ninkstheultimate3376 Just having the time to catch his breath was enough for him to match Link's skill.
If he were any stronger he'd be reading our inputs and getting flurry rushes/parries off on us like an Elden Ring boss
@@Mare_Manmabe you but not me
This is obviously from ganondorfs perspective so when he says "why wont you just stay dead" it betrays his earlier statement of "i win with my patience" i think that means by the time of tears of the kingdom ganondorf is losing patience...hes been through this cycle too many times...and i feel for him tbh
Nailed it! I tried to lead up with confidence and then at the bridge vent some of his frustration at having to face off with Link and Zelda again.
Having now watched all the memory cutscenes i can confirm that if i after who knows how long of waiting for my moment finally get the thing ive been wanting only for it to be taken again and i go back to waiting....yeah i think id break like ganondorf did
This is the best possible thing I could've woken up to. Now I'm gonna have it on repeat for the rest of the day
This is excellent, both as a song on its own and as an interpretation of Ganondorf's existence.
I've always found it fascinating, the implications of Zelda and Link continually reincarnating while the same Ganon just keeps coming back. How he must process it, having to keep being beaten by the same two who never remember who he is, taken down every time he does rule, or comes close to ruling, Hyrule, again and again...
Aviators, though, goes with the idea of Ganondorf taking delight in knowing that he will be back again after each unfortunate demise. That as the bearer of part of the Triforce, no matter how he is defeated, or how many times... the embodiment of Power will always be back to conquer and dominate once again. He will not stay dead.
Can't kill him in any way that matters.
Eventually it becomes a game.
Can I take / Destroy Hyrule? Ok cool. How long can I be an oppressive force on the world before those kids show up with the Master Sword, some Light Arrows, and a pocket full of dreams?"
@@selkiara1272 or a fishing rod for that matter.
@@pikadragon2783 Or a bug net, bottle, or fruit stand?
Except that he does die and reincarnate, the one in TotK is implied to be a new reincarnation and the one in Four Swords Adventures is explicitly a reincarnation.
This is a very interesting song because if you close your eyes you could almost make it out to be the theme to an anti-hero protagonist who never gives up.
I could imagine this song playing when the Tarnished of Elden Ring is fighting Malenia for the 20th time and he finally managed to get a hit in. She is annoyed he keeps coming back, she is starting to get tired, and she is starting to get sloppy.
She kills the Tarnished, but here he comes again.
Now I'm a big fan of the song, it sounds cool, is cool, but more importantly, it draws attention to the *horrifying* reality that the antagonist cannot be dispatched. One who does more damage every time they return, one who is *barely* defeated each time. What sort of psychological torture would that be applying to the people of Hyrule? Even worse, to Link and Zelda?
I love how this repaints Ganon in an atrociously terrifying light, one inevitable, and unstoppable.
He is. To nearly all, Ganon, the incarnation of power itself, is an unconquerable force. That's why everyone is too scared to even dare face him most of the time. His terrible power is so frightening, people don't even try to beat him. That's why Link MUST be the one to beat Ganon. Link, the incarnation of courage, will never be too scared to face Ganon, where no other would dare. Yes, the Master Sword choosing Link is often what gives Link the power needed to win. But he wouldn't be able to fight Ganon at all if he weren't the incarnation of courage.
It also helps explain why early timeline Zelda is always so much more helpful than late timeline Zelda. Though she may not recall her past lives where she faced Ganon, it is still the same person, with the same soul. Faced with his terrifying power so many times, her soul itself could be scarred by the trauma. It's getting harder and harder for her to face him as she does it over and over again, and is scarred each time. She is wisdom, not courage. And I may not be anywhere near the incarnation of wisdom, but I'm smart enough to know that being intelligent is already unbelievably stressful. Now add on the pressure of her duty, AND the scars from facing him so much. No wonder her entire character in the Hyrule Warriors prequel-ish is fear and anxiety! No wonder she can't bear to battle against him anymore without the inspiration from Link's courage! She can only find the guts to fight him herself at this point when Link fights too, and shows her that they can fight and win once more.
Dear heavens, I am so sorry.
@@setster007 I never, ever view it that way. That just gave me a new perspective on Zelda. The kind of violent, viscous cycle these 3 go threw over and and over and over again.
@@_u0nda928 Well, glad to help someone see a new, interesting perspective to something. What I said is kinda theoretical, though, so treat it like an episode of Game Theory.
Everyone is talking about how Ganon is bragging that he won't stay dead and will always rise to spread his chaos again, but in order for the cycle to be a cycle, Ganon's chaos has to end too.
"None can rise, in my stead,
So why don't you just... Stay dead..."
And then he realizes. You can even hear a change of tone as he says "Stay dead." Just as Ganon keeps saying that he won't stay dead, neither will the forces that oppose him. The nature of the cycle is that Ganon will bring chaos, but there will be something that brings order to the chaos. As he brags about how he defeats great forces of order again and again and how he won't stay dead, he realizes the same can be said of the other side of the coin.
"So why don't you just stay dead?..
...'Cause I won't stay dead."
As long as Ganon persists, there will be someone to oppose him. He realizes that he's the reason his enemies won't stay dead.
While I completely agree and this is a great analysis, The lines "So why don't you just stay dead?" Are likely from Rauru/Zelda.
That section of the songs seems to reflect Rauru's feelings when Sonia is killed by Ganondorf.
The line "Non can rise, in my stead," is pure red and is interrupted by "So why don't you just stay dead? Just stay dead. Stay dead" which is golden. And so Ganondorf responds to the question "'Cause I won't stay dead."
The lyrics all seem color coded. You can see a lot of them are also a pinkish. Almost like an in between of Gold and Red. Those lines fit both Rauru and Ganondorf perfectly.
Pink lyrics:
- Go ahead, bury me, I will not stay dead. Hold me down, take my breath, I will not stay dead.
Gold lines:
- Cheat the game, break my stride,
Pink lines:
- You'll see me again
When Ganondorf is kneeling to Rauru his lines are white. Probably showing that it's unclear whether he is good or bad. And the final "'Cause I won't stay dead" is green.
This song is absolutely addictive! What a masterpiece!
Love the new profile pic too!
I was gonna say I noticed that as well
You know, I kinda want to root for Ganon.
The song, the music video, just make him look so frigging cool.
This honestly has me kinda hype for the game. Really like the look of him, the design. The brick of a man that he is, the clothing, just makes him look cool.
1:37 to 2:13 for example, love the shots of him here. You really get a good look at him, the strength of him, even him kneeling looks impressive and the music makes him seem even grander.
I'm honestly terrible at finding the right words for this but this song, the video, just really works for me. I love it.
Keep up the great work, Aviators!
I was sent this song cuz I am one big ole Zelda fan and I don't think I'm gonna be listening to anything else for a while
Goddess this a bloody masterpiece 😍😍😍😍
you are one of the most talented artists on youtube, please never stop
I appreciate Aviators for giving Ganondorf more characterization in one song than he got in the entirety of Tears of the Kingdom. Keep the good music coming.
What do you mean by that?
@@LittleAl016 What I mean is that Ganondorf in Tears of the Kingdom got very little screentime and we didn't get any insight into his motivations beyond jealousy of the Zonai. This song adds a lot to Ganondorf's personality as the singer is obviously the man himself. This song portrays Ganondorf as a schemer, an arrogant warrior poised to fight fate itself, and a man desperately driven to achieve his goals. In Tears of the Kingdom Ganondorf is a perfectly functional villain but is nothing more than a big bad. Suffice it to say when I think of the best Ganondorf moments the Wind Waker monologues, execution scene, and many others will come to mind before anything from Tears of the Kingdom.
Ehh, your description of the characterization the song gives is pretty much what TotK gives. Schemer, arrogant warrior, driven towards goals. Ganondorf doesn’t get much screen time, but what he does get is impactful, whether it’s his personality or his menacing presence.
It’s kind of funny really, because I’m finding myself just slightly off with pretty much every opinion you had. Like, Windwaker was alright, and I appreciated Ganondorf’s characterization a lot in it, but his reasoning made little sense. If he did it all for his people, where are they? Why is there no extra part of the story explaining what they thought of his actions?
As for this song, the music is solid, the theme is solid, but there’s something that just feels off about the whole thing. It doesn’t come across as “Ganondorf.” Like, he is the underdog due to fate and all, but he’s only able to do what he does because he’s got massive power. The song is more what I’d expect from a story where the baddie coming back is a surprise, and perhaps the good guys were a bit arrogant about the whole deal. In TotK though, it’s a last desperate effort and it’s really the good guys who are the underdogs, since in that instance it’s essentially fate that Ganondorf comes back and everyone knows it thanks to Zelda. But I’m no lyric writer, and outside of this I like the song considerably.
@@sharkeyburke5925 Pretty sure he has more screentime than any other zelda game
It's kinda cute that you actually believe this lie that you tell yourself lmao. "Giving Ganondorf more characterization in one song than he got in the entirety of TotK" like what a laugh hah. This song gives him the exact same amount of characterization he got in TotK my guy. Ganondorf has the most screentime in that game than any previous game, what are you on? Bro is also literally portrayed as everything you say this song portray him as in TotK and past games. He is very much more than "just a big bad" in TotK and we got more insight into his motivations than just "jealousy of the Zonai."
He believed that the world should be filled with the strong and that the Zonai took the god like powers gifted to them for granted while he actually used them to their fullest abilities and recognized how powerful the Secret Stones were. They were molding a weak world of cowards and light in his eyes. You're kissing Wind Waker's ass for its portrayal of Ganondorf waaaay too much. It was good ofc don't get me wrong, but it's on the same level as his portrayal in TotK with the only exception being he has a tad more depth in Wind Waker. It is baffling that any of Ganondorf's moments in Wind Waker come to your mind before the many awesome monologues, flashbacks, and fight scenes against Ganondorf in TotK.
Wow, beautiful song😍😍😍
The Gerudo Valley Theme fits the music brilliantly, very well done! Can't wait for Halfwolf!
Such a fresh change of pace and style for Aviators. They're usually more on the soft / hard rock or R&B kind of style, so I vastly appreciate this turn to hip-hop / synth trap-esque vibe. Definitely one of my favorite songs from them, it's a bonus that it's about one of my fave game franchises :)
I like that the lyrics between 3:00 and 3:30 sound ambiguous on whether they are talking about Ganandorf or Link.
Three moons! This was amazing, certainly something I didn’t expect but I love it none the less! ❤️🖤❤️
I swear to the bleeding sun, I did a small happy tappy dance when Spotify told me that Aviators released a new song. Today is a good day.
3:01 I’ve never actually realised how this part of the song refers to all the basic Zonai abilities in the game
“You recall to the past” obviously refers to the recall ability which lets you rewind certain objects in time.
“And ascend this crevasse” is talking about the ascend ability that allows you to dive through ceilings.
“Fused with power, strong of will” is yet another obvious reference to the fuse which acts as the main source of (physical) power in the game.
“Guided hands fail you still” most likely refers to both the ultrahand AND autobuild abilities, considering the use of plural “hands”.
Even with all those powers, Ganondorf still won’t stay dead, and the cycle will simply continue over and over again ‘til the end of time.
Just the first 30 seconds and I already love this song!
I'm 20 seconds in, and this song is about to be my new favourite
Edit: a minute in and I've got enough dopamine to eradicate depression it's SOO GOOD WHAT

HELL Yeah, what a great one. I love how smooth it is, and the wonderful references of the Gerudo Valley theme in there made me super giddy when I noticed it. It's not in your face, and its such a good twist to such a fun song. I love this piece!
Ganondorf has never had so much swagger.
I just realized that at 3:02-3:12 the lyrics are about the abilities Link uses.

Think a "Mad hero era" works too here.
@@azrael1208 That works too. When first I heard it, I thought either Ganon or Link could be saying it to the other. But if we say mad hero in general, you could base it off the quote "You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become a villain"
