Using the entire 6.75T federal budget of 2024, if you remove social security payment (1.46T, 22%), medicaid (912B, 13.5%), net debt interest payment (822B, 13%), medicare (874B,13%) and defense (874B, 13%), you are left with 1.75T. I don't see how you can cut 2T without massively cutting the all of the above programs and expenditures. Cutting 2T is not the best case scenerio, it is simply impossible in the practical sense. Musk is blowing smoke.

Not to mention over 60% of the federal budget is mandatory spending, so unless Congress passes new law, it isn't happening. About half of discretionary spending goes to the military so only about a trillion is what we hear all the noise about. Musk and Ramaswamy both are hugely conflicted and listening to them is like hearing a couple of high schoolers talk about how they would fix everything.

Tax cuts are 'phenomenal' for those that are getting them. It's why wealth among the top 1% of earners has skyrocketed. But virtually every penny that goes to people in 'entitlement' programs (which is a misnomer) goes back into the economy to keep it chugging along. Unelected Elon and Vivek are billionaires. Forbes estimated Ramaswamy's net worth at more than $960 million; his wealth comes from biotech and financial businesses. Musk's net worth surged after the 2024 United States presidential election, and in December 2024, he became the first person to have a net worth of more than $400 billion. As a primary customer, the federal government of the United States has signed contracts worth $20 billion with SpaceX as of November 2024.

I dont think any of these people understand the financial system. They are treating the money creating government as if they are a local or state government department that cant issue currency.
The reasons for tax are pretty much 1. To make the currency important (you cant pay tax in BTC)
    2. To slow down the inflationary effect of creating more money.
The US government pretty much "just' has to balance the inflationary creation of money - taxes with overall growth (allowing 2% extra money creation vs growth).
The rest is all smoke and mirrors. The way i see it the bond market exists to temporarily take money out of circulation to reduce inflation, but the interest payments sometimes cancel this effect out.

I'm thinking about beginning my investment journey, but I feel a bit overwhelmed and uncertain. Do you have any friendly tips or suggestions for people I could reach out to for guidance?
