In March 1994 due to a navigational computer user error, the ship technically sank in the Baltic and was saved from a total destruction only by grounding it. Another extensive repair was performed on the ship.The bottom of the hull was cracked open at about 1/3 of its length as the ship had sailed over an underground rock at speed.

I was on that ship on a cruise Helsinki-Tallinn-Helsinki a time before she sank. I think about another amazing and more unlikely survivor: the former Swedish ocean liner MS Stockholm (1948) that caused the sinking of SS Andrea Doria in 1956. She still sails as the oldest active ocean going passenger ship in the World. Her latest (and 11:th) name is MV Astoria.
It is also interesting that at 11:46 you can see another ship, Birka Princess. This cruise ship sunk in Greece 2007.
