Fellow baby-fine wavy curly here and yes to dry brushing before washing! Game changer. I actually also brush in my conditioner in the shower and my moisturizing products in my soaking wet hair after the shower. I know. Lots of brushing. But I get so many tangles otherwise. I then glaze and gently scrunch my gel and then microplop with a microfiber towel and then diffuse to 50% to get the weight of the water out and then I air dry. It took like 2 years to get to this routine but it works for me!
I also have fine hair and lots of it, so dry brushing is sometimes necessary in between refreshes, otherwise tangles galore! I can’t always brush out my hair in the shower because it just won’t, so I usually have to use a leave-in of some sort (spray or cream… or sometimes both) with very good slip to detangle after my shower and before applying my gel and then Micro plopping and scrunching
Thank you for sharing! My son has wavy hair like me but his hair is much more fine and it’s been difficult to get it to curl up like it did when he was little so I will be trying your method on him ❤
Your hair looks great! I would love a video of your REAL (not with sponsored products) refresh routine. My hair is really picky about a refresh and haven't found the right products yet.
Wow I personally think this is one of the best your hair has ever looked. You look beautiful ! Btw this vidéo was just lovely to watch you brought the biggest smile to my face, thanks girl!
GORGEOUS!! Ughhh I can’t wait for my curtain bangs to grow out again so I can get back to this curly routine haha :) would absolutely LOVE an updated overnight/refresher video. The last time you did a refresh I think was quite a long while ago so would love love to see your overnight routine and how you refresh for all us unskilled wavy babe hahaha ❤️❤️
YES! I agree about the shea moisture mask. I thought maybe I got a bad batch or my hair had changed, but it just hasn't been working quite as well as it used to - way less protein punch.
Plopping in a satin cap works well esp when my hair is medium length. I just got some length cut off tho so it doesn't work as well. Good tips I like these
I always dry brush before my shower. Brushing my hair would be torturous if I did it afterwards. I feel like I’d just hear a bunch of ripping noises, and get freaked out. I rake conditioner through my ends after shampooing, and that usually does the trick. Also, India’s right on about wavy hair drying weird when you brush it. I don’t get the same beachy waves.
Thank you for this! I have been struggling with my hair as it has only become more curly in the last few years. I was only putting in a moose and my hair was falling and frizzing. Turns out I need to be doing more to maintain it these days than in my straighter hair days. Thank so much!
I wish brushing my hair out wasn't as painful on my 3A-B hair! Doing it with conditioner before shampooing saved me from literal headaches since I'm prone to them (thanks genetics lol)
Love your hair!! I have a couple questions. 1.How damp should your hair be before starting to style 2. How do you keep your hair nice at night and how do you refresh them in the morning? Thanks!!
I have 2C and 3A curls. Went on a curl journey during covid. Your hair should be on the wetter side when adding products. So it makes a squishing sound when you scrunch it up. At night depending on the length of hair, put your hair in a silk scrunchie pineapple and sleep in a satin bonnet. You can get some in Walmart. This is the crucial step for healing your curly hair.
Gorgeous results! And I love the Maui product line. I'm looking for a new hair dryer with diffuser - something quiet, small, yet packs a good punch. Cool setting a plus, but I'll take just a cool shot button if I love the rest of the product. What are your suggestions that won't break the bank? I've had a conair before an am now looking to change it up. My hair is almost as long as yours and is wavy/curly. Thanks for any suggestions!
OMG OMG OMG, SO EXCITED FOR THIS VIDEO! I need to give my curly hair some love. I haven't had time to take good care of my hair, but I am going to get back to it over Thanksgiving break. Thank you for this video! Love you India!
My poor hair needs sooooo much help right now! If any of you are a little older, I currently have Rosanne Rosannadanna hair [check out some of the old Saturday Night Live videos with Gilda Radner!]. I was hoping to get soft curls, and tried a product that I THOUGHT would help me get that......I was desperately WRONG!!! I got virtually NO curls, just dry frizzy nasty hair that feels bad and looks bad!! I'm going to have to get my hard gel out again!! Less damage and more curls!! Thanks for reminding me I can still get pretty curls out of this hair, and not destroy it at the same time! It's now time for a good wash, deep condition, and moisture under my gel!!
Gorgeous India! I get better definition with a gel as opposed to a mousse, so I have been using the Garnier Fructis Style Curl Treat Shaping Jelly with Coconut Oil for Curly Hair until it runs out. Can’t wait to try the Maui Moisture brand. 💕
Girl. I feel you with the not taking care of my hair either…..😫. I really need to get it back to good.. I don’t know what kind of products to use right now……. I just want you to know that you are my all time favorite and you have the best, most fun videos ever!!!! You always make me laugh.. You’re the greatest India ❤️
This came out at the perfect time cause I've been struggling so much with getting my hair to clump. It's like no matter how much water I add, the moment product touches my hair, it all gets super stringy and frizzy. I'm at a total loss and it's honestly been a bit frustrating since I'm putting so much effort in for mediocre results 😭😭😭😭
Girl same. I also can never get those aquis towels to stay put. India’s hair is perfectly wrapped, but mine will slip and slides if I move an inch. Now I just pat and squeeze it dry and let it clump on its own. I also don’t know how India puts all those products in her hair without it getting greasy. Mine gets greasy without 24 hours. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.
@@luckyDancer100 I have zero idea. My hair was doing really well for a period of time but then everything kind of stopped working and I'm wondering if it's because I got a new gel. And because I don't have a hair dryer, the water weight really pulls my hair down a lot.
İts probably due to the ingridients, so called humectans, theyre hydrating but some attract moisture from the air and try to squish it into the hair, it ends up in frizz. Or your hair is just not where its supposed to be yet healthwise. İt cannot retain moisture = water. Another reason could be build up. Get a chelating not clarifying shampoo and use it once every month. İt should help a ton.
@@saka3960 I think it's a bit of everything. My hair has a decent amount of bleach damage from a balayage almost three years ago and I've been growing that out. I've been trying to remind myself that this is a process and I shouldn't expect my hair to suddenly be gorgeous and wavy after 10 years of thinking it was frizzy, straight hair 🤷🏻♀️
I am starting to think that diffusing actually makes a big difference and that maybe I should start doing that again . It's just that my hair is very thick and course naturally and I'm lazy lol . But your hair looks beautiful either way . Whether you do the defined wavy/curly look or the other way you personally like to do it . I also have been looking into that blow dryer . Where did you get yours?
Your hair is gorgeous! I tried the curly girl method but I had very little success. I have 2 a 2b curls or waves. I may try this again especially if I could get your curls in my grey hair.
For me when my hair is longer( it looks weird with larger clumps this short) simply applying to wet hair and plopping for 10 minutes is all I need to do. But sometimes I like the more separated look. It depends. Indians hair looks amazing of course
I love these videos. However, I wish there were more people with oily hair and waves. If I put too much product it just weighs my hair down but to little and it’s frizzy.
Same here. And my hair is also super fine and I don't have much so it doesn't take much to look stringy and greasy or dried out and frizzy. I'm having trouble finding a balance
I wish they sold that Maui Moisture gel in stores. I haven't been able to find it anywhere. Using the NYM flexible gel currently, along with the defining cream(which, the cream does nothing to define or hold, in my opinion), plus just switched to the Maui flaxseed shampoo and conditioner, but I can't stand the scent of the conditioner. Hope it works. Really long 2b/c spiral waves here. Got a ways to go, I suppose, but yes, the spray bottle is everything! ❤
Love the video! Thank you for making it :-) I love more defined curls on myself :-) and I really like slightly crunchy hair :-) I feel like normally I always hear people say how much they don't like crunchy hair but I like it slightly crunchy so that I know it's held :-) I know I'm weird :-) I have never dried my hair without scrunching it a decent amount so I'm very excited to try it :-) Will this method work using gel also?
Anyone else have only half your hair wavy? I've been trying for 9 months now to get my top layers to hold a wave pattern the way my middle and bottom layers do. No luck so far. I get decent clumping and wave when wet, but it falls flat when dry. Had a hairdresser tell me it might never take to the process. So what the heck am I supposed to do with 2 different hair textures 🙈
Beautiful hair day! I’ve been following your hair videos. I can’t seems to get the front of my hair to look like yours. Do you have any advice? Also, is your hair low porosity? I’m 63 and just realized I have wavy hair 🥳.
Loved this video! You've helped me embrace my natural waves so much India, thank you ❤️ I tried to use the discount code but it says it's invalid - is it just for US customers? I'm from the UK
I have super thick wavy/curly hair and I dry brush it so I can wash it easier and I’ll brush again with conditioner in my hair but no brushing after that
Hi India, thanks for your lovely advice I've been learning a lot since I watched your videos, your hair is gorgeous. I'd like to try glaze, but they don't ship worldwide:-(
Hi India Batson, thanks a lot for your video. I hope you can help me out. I am interested in your holy grail, the shea moisture sugarcane leave in. What is the ingrediënt of your bottle after water? Glycerin or ceatearyl alcohol at first? Thanks a lot in advance!
When i plop my hair my hairline kinda disappears 😂 Does that make since? It still looks amazing i just have to wet my roots and let them dry naturally!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who has been lazy with my hair lately! I just bought the olaplex treatment and told myself I need to get my act together. 😂 😘😘 love you girl!
So, as someone with fine wavy/curly hair, is it better to get defined, clumped curls by 1) brushing wet hair, applying products, then diffusing Or 2) scrunching products into wet hair then diffuse? Please help a girl out if you made it this far :)
