Also reminds of some Vangelis tracks. Beautiful engineering. People where really dedicated to produce a decent sounding synth. Not saying there aren't descent synths nowadays.
He made a good point of really knowing and learning the same synth inside out for almost forty years. Having said that, Din records (if I heard right) are a bit set in their ways imho
I had one of these for a while and ended up ebaying it for $500, the bass sound at the beginning of Michael Jackson - Don't stop til you get enough is the bass preset on this korg sigma i sware. If you have a sigma try it out!
I remember these from years back. They're tricky to set up (or the ones i used were..maybe they needed some tlc), but have a really unique sound. Rick wakeman & keith emerson used them. Didn't know about the dirty harry connection. It must have been on the Sudden Impact and Dead Pool soundtracks.
I have no idea... Behringer has proven there's a lot of enthusiasm for affordable recreations of vintage synths, so it seems crazy that Korg and Roland aren't taking advantage of the opportunity themselves.
ive got one of these - but i dont think ive turned it on for a good year now - I've got the 800dv and 700s which I use loads - the sigma is not a classic like those ones - it is very hard to shape a sound on these - its so preset like - just layering sounds does not make a good sound at all - I think theres one sound I like on it which is a thin square wave which does a nice tangerine dream like pattern but its mmmm not my fave however I do keep because I do like the look of it.
I like the guy , love his enthusiasm, and am a huge fan of korg and didn’t think I’d ever say this about any analogue electronic instrument from them......but I really didn’t like this sound! Maybe is due to different influences but psychedelic/ sc-fi soundtracks are just not my thing. Didn’t this had any presence compared to slightly later Korgs or even contemporary string machines from crumar or Roland etc.
I think one of my favorite things about synths is that no matter what year a model was made, they always sound like they're from the goddamn future.
Instantly hearing Gong and Tangerine Dream beautiful piece, thanks for the demo haven't seen one in years
My lord! The combination of that keyboard and pedal sounds gorgeous!
Sounds brilliant! In fact better than anything I have heard from this years Synthfest
I remember the Sigma, but apparently not how wonderful it sounded!
I can just HEAR the Korg Sigma prices increasing, haha.
Would love to own one of these.
I think the price of vintage Korg Sigmas just went through the roof, lol.
That synth came out the year I was born. It sounds amazing too.
Behringer Sigma in 3... 2... 1...

What a beautiful sound!
KORG is my favorite🙏🏻
Very nice sounds, perfect for live play.
Sure this guy used to sell me synths in Bingley 25+ years ago. Salesman extraordinaire. Good to see he’s done well
Indeed I did!:-)
Certainly has that accent!
This sounds fantastic!
another seriously (and unfairly) under-rated Korg machine, like almost all of their 70s-early 80s range
just a few notes and the Sigma rocks ruclips.net/video/Z3B0PKVTSXI/видео.html
Great sound and great _controls!_ It's not often to see proper joysticks and etc. in mid. price range synths these days!
Gorgeous sounds! Thank you for the video
Ooh just spotted the Yamaha CS-something behind Gaz
Just picked one up to sit atop my Lambda. The whole Greek series are AMAZING sounding synths 🥹
holy shit !!!! I want one ..
Two super enthusiastic lovely people talking about things they love! What more can you ask for? :-)
Them having sex!
He made a good point of really knowing and learning the same synth inside out for almost forty years. Having said that, Din records (if I heard right) are a bit set in their ways imho
Very cool
Would love to get the whole Greek named korg line, they are all pretty awesome

This is making me regret passing the Sigma by. I could have got it cheap as well :(

Didn't know about the dirty harry connection. It must have been on the Sudden Impact and Dead Pool soundtracks.
So why isn't Korg remaking these again..?
I have no idea... Behringer has proven there's a lot of enthusiasm for affordable recreations of vintage synths, so it seems crazy that Korg and Roland aren't taking advantage of the opportunity themselves.
oooooh now that's what I call Sigma sweet
Mr Gaz, will you be visiting your old friend Paul Soulsby at this show? (ie IS THE ATX READY YET!!??😡)
thank you 😊
He wasnt there this time
@@sonicstate thanks for the reply
Wish it was duophonic. As its bitimbric, they could've done that -unless its divide down and only one oscillator
Behringer should make one of these ( or Korg make more...)
The thing is… I actually owned one and GAVE IT AWAY that makes me sad watching this. I forgot the sound of the Sigma.
Hey Uli Behringer, let's get to work on this one!
@Muso Snoop So he's a good guy! Go on Uli! Muso approved your behaviour!
Sigma rockz! But... there is... CS-60... sadly lieing and asking to be played and talked about in the background. ;-)
The Sigma would complement a CS-60 very nicely. I'd like to hear them played together.

Where is synth fest held?
Sheffield, England.

Not impressed! A bunch of noise. The old Farfisa were able to produce much more futuristic and spacey sounds without all that nasty buzz!
yeah. i also wish every machine sounded exactly the same. whats the point with versatility anyway?
Too much aftertouch...
