Ask around, find a farrier willing to work with you, and be willing to work, it’s gonna be hard at first. Most farriers I’ve known are looking for an apprentice at some point. Lots of times once you get up and going, they will begin to pass new clients off to you. Farrier schools are always a good option as well.

Dude knows what's up. I found a way to save time labelling food containers at work. A few seconds per container times dozens of containers means saving several minutes of prep time. Might not seem like much, but several minutes can feel like a lifetime during a rush.

Shew. Now let me first state that the comment I’m about to make isn’t based off of anything I think that’s been done wrong. Anyway, I’ve owned horses since I was 7. The horse I had at 7 was VERY elderly so I only had him 2 years, he was the only horse I’ve owned that NEEDED shoes (navicular and elevation worked best for him). After him, ALL of my horses have just #1 had great feet, & #2 not had steady jobs that preferred shoes. I game but it was for fun and maybe 3-4x a season. The reason I’m bringing all this up is just because it’s been a LONG time since I’ve seen a consistently shod horse and have seen a sole and frog be higher than his walls 😮 (again not hating on shoes , if it’s what keeps your horse sound hey I’ve been there!) just a different sight than I’ve seen in years as I don’t look at horses feet that aren’t mine, while the farriers re shoeing 🤷🏻♀️ . But what a difference 😮
I stopped paying attention to him shoeing the horse the moment the camera lifted up to see him. I have seen a lot of people shoeing horses but not many look like him. 😮😊

I personally don't have nail pullers, but if you straighten out the clenched nails with a hammer and a clinching block, then use the shoe pullers to yank at the heels of the shoe, it'll loosen the nails for you to remove them with the end of the driving hammer. This method that many guys use, including myself, takes longer than just using nail pullers. The reason we do it is because we're cheap and there is a way to do it without having to buy nail pullers, although using nail pullers is quicker. Honestly, I highly recommend getting them for everyone else, I'm kinda just stuck with the way my father and a good farrier buddy thought me awhile back - Habits tend to stick with you even when there are better alternatives, I suppose.
Just for your information if this hurt the horse it would kick him, don’t worry about the horse it’s OK, instead worry about the horses that are abused to be raced, edit: or the horses tails that are broken so they stand up straight

Do they always need to be cleaned up and redone a couple times before they get completely new shoes? And how long does a shoe last? Confused here on why the shoe gets re heated then put back on, does the hoof need to get trimmed up?

I'm currently accepting donations for a new kind of horse shoe to be made and tested it will eliminate the need for nails as well as it would be reusable after treatment ice got a single prototype as of now but I need some testing done with it on a real horse as well as more funds to continue the process of making a paton on it
If it’s tiny, you can just file it down, but if not there’s something called horseputty which is especially helpful for this sort of thing. You fill the crack with it, make sure everything is nice and dry, and then put some casting tape over it. It’ll take a few months or so depending on the size
How to save time:
Step 1.) Have an apprentice to do half the work
