Great course Nelson! I'm 51 and decided to teach myself software engineering with no previous experience. There is an incredible amount of information out there, some good and some not so good, so I want to make sure start off the right way for success. The PyCharm course you put together was a perfect way to learn the IDE so I can get started correctly and efficiently. Thank you for the time and effort you took to put together such a great tutorial for those of us that are new and have so much to learn!
@@ProRylan still learning! I’ve moved onto a couple courses on Udemy. They are really great quality and a great value for a reasonable price. There are some tougher concepts that I have to come back to and relearn sometimes since this isn’t my day job (yet), but every little piece adds up and I’m getting more comfortable with the challenges and exercises.
For anyone using ver 2024.1.1, the Presentation Assistant is activated by going to the main menu selecting View. In its drop down menu will be Appearance. From the context menu for Appearance there is a selection for Presentation Assistant. Clicking it once will activate it
I think You should make more specific playlists on Your RUclips channel, it could boost amount of views of your videos. For example You have reallly good Spring tutorials, however there isn't any playlist collecting all of them. Check how traversymedia has it solved, this guy got it pretty nice and clean organized. Cheers
Assalaamu'alaykum brother, I've been using VS Code at least for 1 year, and I've been considering to move to Pycharm lately. And your tutorial convince me that I need to move to Pycharm. Thank you!
You get exactly what the title promises. Also your accent makes It clearer to understand every word for those who are not english Native speakers. TKS brother
very nice presentation, I wonder why I can not find the IntelliJ IDEA classic keymap on my PC Pycharm but it is available on my MAC, is it a plugin that we should add??
You can click on "Get more keymaps in settings/Plugins" in keymap. Then install all keymap in the Plugins. After that, when you come back to keymap, you will see many new keymaps including IntelliJ idea classic
Excellent course! Clear, detailed instructions. Definitely more confident in using PyCharm now, and also spills over to IntelliJ for Java. Thank you Nelson!
Please keep in mind that not all of use have MACS. To move a line down or up PC users use Ctrl Shift Down Arrow or Up Arrow, resp. There is a reference sheet that PyCharm produces that's handy, but I have not spotted on how to make a new empty line. All in all, still a good course.
Excellent tour of the countryside we move in. Thank you. Already have the Pro license but a much better understanding of the PyCharm IDE now. Thank you.
30:46 Darcula, not Dracula. I‘m thankful for the skip feature: Sure, keyboard shortcuts and themes will become important at some point, but first I need to know about the functionality of a software, and whether I will use it or not. Learning the details and tweaks will come _after_ I decided to keep it. ➡️start here: 39:05
wow , i am not native and I really struggle with understanding indian-english ( i am definitely not racist or sth , just very not used to :) ) , so when i entered the course i thought that unfortunately this course is not for me , but it turns out ur english isvery clear and u teach very easly. Good job , and i cant wait to see maybe CLion tutorial?
The Indian-accented ones, I automatically exit out as they give me a headache with how they speak English. I wish they'd let us know via the title it's gonna be an Indian taught video so I don't even bother clicking on them as there are so many and they waste my time.
Great effort! But I abandoned this video after spending too much time trying to figure out why I and others couldn't find the IntelliJ IDEA key mapper. Then, the most disappointing thing is the maker of the video completely ignored everyone's questions about this option not being available to them. I normally would have kept doing the tutorial but the author said he's strictly using IntelliJ keymap throughout the course. I'm going to use the comprehensive training that comes with PyCharm.
it does not matter, when he does something the shortcut for windows pops up as well as the IntelliJ. So u can just look at the windows shortcut and not care about the intelliJ.
There is no right keymap. Try a few and work out what you like. Personally I use VI editing which messes with the keyboard shortcuts somewhat, but I love VI and I'm never going to change.
Thank you for this. Excellent, I learned Python many years back on something not much better than a text editor. This has really helped to motivate me to pick it up again.
Thank you very much for this excellent course. I'm a second year computer science student. I have downloaded the pycharm IDE to begin progamming in python. I find the course very helpful but it's quite difficult for me to wrap my head around it , because I'm using the 2022 version. I can't locate some functionalities such as : configuration , TODO and others.
Thank.you for this Tutorial! I enjoy the dark theme with the monokai color scheme. Makes recognising mistakes easier and as you said it doesn't strain the eyes so easily. Keep up the good work 👏!
Stunning but I had to smile when I considered the time saved in using the keyboard short-cuts SUBTRACT the time spent in keyboard mis-typing corrections - great that you did not edit those out :) There were a couple of occasions where the screen displayed could have been zoomed out a little to provide the full context and functionality of the topic under discussion - but this is nit-picking. I look forward to diving don into your other content. Really enjoyable and well done. Thank you.
the Tut is really awesome and detailed. just one more suggestion: as long as we have presentation plugin, u may use less shortcuts in the video, so the learner could know where to find it. About the shortcut, they will learn by themselves (because we have that plugin). if the tut just say "press ctrl + *" , beginners don't know what that means.
thank you so much for this amazing tutorial, I really needed this! I really liked it that you put so much time in showing and explaining all the shortcuts, you really did a great job.
Thank you for such a proffesional course! It was pleasure to learn from this schooling. Such a large piece of knowledge in just two-hour video. Thanks a lot once again! ☺☺☺
I don't have the IntelliJ IDEA keymap in my PyCharm software. Also, I am unable to find it on the plugin marketplace. How do I install this keymap to my PyCharm software?
Hey can you please make a video on how to upload to github with pycharm and everything you can do with github when using pycharm. I think this will be very helpful!
I will definitely watch the video till the End. It seems a great video. I just was searching how to import "numpy" using PyCharm. Can anyone tell me if this is covered in this video?
Hi I am learning automation at work and this is so helpful, do you have a testing class after this one? I really got a lot of out this so far and I am looking for the PYCHARM testing methodologies next. I have searched your channel but not sure I can find one in here. I would love it if you made one I really understand you so much better than some others I have tried.
intelliJ IDEA Classic Keymap is not available for my vesion of Pycharm. I am using the latest version. I also searched it in the plugin Library. It is not there to install.
Apparently there have been substantial changes since 2020.2.2. I am following along - but I'm dong so with 2024.1.1. And I'm using a Linux distribution. So some of the more nuanced aspects of what you teach are different for me. Nevertheless, I'm continuing to follow along as best I can. The material is pretty good
Hey, what is going on?! great hints! It is a great overview for pycharm with nice further information for unit testing. I great additional video would be how to structure a python app. In this video you just dumped all into the main folder. I understand pycharm was the center of the video but I would say having a good structure is essential for organizing your code. You have done this with java in an other video. I am sure that it is also possible with pycharm. I would love to see that. In any case good video. talk to you later.
I'm doing this 2 years later and all was well until I got to the keymap thing. Turns out that the intellij IDEA keymap is no longer available through the extensions interface. There is some intellij stuff but no keymap. (There was quite a selection of other keymaps though.) Therefore I went with Emacs because I like Emacs. If there is some other way to find the intellij keymap I haven't been able to find it, so oh well.😁
I am trying to follow along with this course. Yet the IntelliJ IDEA Classic keymap is not in my dropdown menu. It is simply not installed. I tried finding it as a plugin, but no such luck. Can you help me where can I find this 'best ever' keymap? I searched online as well for this issue, but every troubleshooting post seems to assume that it is just there, installed automatically. What did i do wrong?
Melhor tutorial e no momento mais oportuno. Estava procurando por um tutorial de PyCharm e encontro um lançado recentemente e por um brasileiro.É Deus, mamãe !!!!!
Nice tutorial. Really helpful. Keep up the good work. One request is that if you could collect all the shortcuts you taught in this tutorial and make a cheat sheet, that would be really nice of you. Thanks.
For PyCharm professional use code: AMIGOSCODE and get PyCharm professional 3 months for free.
You Z
I just tried to use the activation code but I get the error message:"Key is Invalid", does the activation code still work?
I am getting "Activation code is invalid" when using this code in Licenses section
it dose not work it just says Activation code not working is it broken?
i like your hat

Thanks for typing this out man. Convinced me to put 2 hours to the side and watch the video.
how you getting on with it all ? still learning ?

The best teacher for learning new things, he's very organized, I want to do all his courses while I practice my English listening. ¡Awesome!

Everyone shows you how to instal PyCharm but not how to navigate it. This is the best PyCharm tutorial on RUclips. Thanks a lot.
I think You should make more specific playlists on Your RUclips channel, it could boost amount of views of your videos. Will do that thanks man
You are only more accurate in explaining and detailing everything better than my university professor 👌⭐
Much Love, keep it up 💜💚
In Pycharm 22.01 [Windows ver.] "Preferences" are under the File menu heading and called "Settings."
This was so helpful because I knew nothing about the PyCharm, so it was making learning python needlessly difficult.
Thank you so much! Pycharm looks so intimidating at first. It really isnt after your tour!
Brother: all do not have a Mac keyboard .so when you say Command, My windows keyboard says were. Much respect for your work.
Assalaamu'alaykum brother,

Perfect introduction, perfect explanation. Thank you king
very nice presentation, I wonder why I can not find the IntelliJ IDEA classic keymap on my PC Pycharm but it is available on my MAC, is it a plugin that we should add??
We need another updated one of these courses covering PyCharm even in more depth ! , maybe a PyCharm Tutorial 2 or something ?
My online textbook for my introductory Python course is pretty garbage. I am so excited to dive into your course sir!!
Brother, There are only 3 keymaps on my windows pc
1.window
2.emacs
3.sublime text
How do I get IntelliJ idea classic?

Thank you this is exactly what I needed. Only problem is that TODO's are not showing in the TODO tab although I'm properly writing them 😵
I am switching spyder to pycharm. This course is extremely helpful. Thank you so much. I am wondering if you will teach courses on python unit test.
i agree, just checked ur profile are u muslim as well?

hello I want to thank you for making this video. I'm in my 80's and doing my best to follow!
Brilliant video. Clear, concise and full of the most useful editor features. Thanks!
Excellent tour of the countryside we move in. Thank you. Already have the Pro license but a much better understanding of the PyCharm IDE now. Thank you.
i can't see intelliJ idea as an option for the keymaps. Only Windows Emacs and Sublime. Why is that? What PlugIn do i Need?

Hi! Im not able to use the IntelliJ IDEA as a keymap. How did you guys make it work or was it just available for you?

I can't find IntelliJ either. Win 11.

¡Blessings thanks happy new year 2021! 👏👏😌👍👍
Got exactly what I wanted, great work. Thank you.
PyCharm in Ubuntu does not recognize the "Windows" (Super) key. Workaround: Change the keymapping to VSCode (to install) and get your favorites there.

You are absolutely great. I love this. Please how do i download the video?
Thank you so much. This video has been very helpful. You are a the best teacher.
