What I enjoy the most is that the tools you use are not expensive and are easy to find at either home improvement or big box department stores. Your instructions are clear and easy to follow, and I believe that even those who think they have no "talent" can duplicate your results with a little practice. Professional results at dollar store prices. Thank you, Monster Tutorials, and keep creepifying on!

I can attest to this, just tried this tutorial today and I'm happy with the results, though I think I went a little heavy on the paint. I'll give it another go for sure until I have a whole pumpkin patch of rotties

I'll bet you could make some very realistic looking decomposing corpses using this method on foam skulls! Like the standing corpses in the catacombs, in their suits and dresses.

Elaura W incidentally, he _has_ done a tutorial on how to make realistic, charred flesh on cheap plastic skulls, using expanding foam and paint. It's incredible, you should check it out!

I just watched this and kinda thought the same thing. One of my nieces' loves Day of the Dead skulls. It'd be cool to do a painted skull and then try and do something like this. I'll have to watch that other video that Foot Lettuce suggested.

I actually made my own rotten pumpkins this year out of dollar store ones. I found that if I gently ran a flame close to the styrofoam, it would bubble, and if I touched it it would make interesting holes/ dents. So I used fire. Then used the paints. And they came out really well. I'll have to try your method next year. Thank you for the tutorial.~

I made some of these last week with hopes that it will be safe to go trick or treating this year, and they turned out great. Your instructions are spot on and easy to follow. I kinda added a little spin of my own that I thought I would share. After all of the paint dried, I put a thin layer of carpenters glue in the areas where you would expect the mold to really grow fast and heavy. Then I lightly stuck some cotton balls to the wet glue. When the glue dried I pulled the cotton balls off and it created a white fuzzy mold look.

Clever. Could also be a good way to keep a couple of appropriate-aged kids busy for an entire day if you have them involved in the shopping and outdoor bench setup and such. Make too many? Sounds like a trip to a local senior center, public library, etc. to make a donation.

I wonder if you'd be able to put some sort of shellac or coating on the dollar store ones so that they could blister up like the expensive ones do and get that nice coating. Because I really love the hollow ones and the fact that you could put a candle in there but I really like the way the expensive ones melt better.
