    These little batteries are amazing. I just bought this unit since I already have 3 batteries. The dirty little secret is these batteries don't last forever. Over time they weaken depending on usage. Looks like this is the future, but keep your gas or propane generator for a back up. The grid is vulnerable.

    Very good test--Thanks! Food for thought: every time I've run an Ego battery to zero, it has killed the battery. Maybe not right away, but a week or 4 later the battery just won't charge and gives the fast blinking light of death. Ego has been good about warranty replacements, but once I learned to simply not run them dead I've had great luck. Cheers.

    Very nice test and a very nice refrigerator. I would like to remind people that refrigerators enter a defrost cycle maybe once a week. The defrost cycle really pulls the watts. I use an ECO Flow Delta 2 as a backup for my refrigerator when the power goes out. My refrigerator has incandescent light bulbs and when the refrigerator door is opened the light bulbs add about 100 watts. I wish my refrigerator had LED bulbs.

      I bet you could probably find LED bulbs. If it has incandescent means they probably have a traditional screw base. They might be expensive but they would last a very very very long time so kind of a one-and-done investment

      We have a thirty year old fridge that defrosted every day that pulls 600watts. We have a 2kw off grid solar system has a 1500watt inverter that is for general use and a 3000watt inverter that is only used for large loads such as charging our Chevy volt, charging our Ego z6 riding mower or washing clothes etc.

    Your videos sold me. I’m going to get the power delta 2000W today that comes with two 7.5 amp batteries for frig and probably one of these to run my modem and router for internet. I used to have a Koehler battery lawn mower but it went kaput after 7 years. I’ll replace it with an EGO this summer so it’s a no brainer for me with this product line

    What a great video! I’m sitting here at 2:50 AM trying to figure out how I could’ve made my own situation better after our 24 hour plus power outage. We were unprepared!
    Two kids nine and 11, electronic devices such as iPads for them and phones for us are critical.
    Our main issue of course today, after the power did not come on when it was scheduled to, was our deep freeze and our refrigerator. It’s funny that while watching this video trying to determine if it would be good enough for our needs as far as devices, I was overlooking that it would actually solve our biggest dilemma which is of course preserving the food.
    As somebody mentioned in the comments, buying two of them is not a bad idea, much cheaper and easier than buying and running a large gas powered generator for temporary power outages.
    I am fairly new to battery technology as far as power outage situation’s etc., but I am guessing a deep freeze or large freezer takes significantly more energy. I have two options of either my parents who live close by or the dealership that my wife’s family owns that has several refrigerators where we could take our frozen stuff to if we absolutely had to.
    This is extremely long winded but what I am trying to say is I think you demonstrated to me that there is a significantly less expensive and easy option for the dilemma I am currently dealing with as opposed to spending $1200 for a generator for next time.
    I will finish with a question, what do you think about the generic or aftermarket options for EGO batteries, I currently have a 2.0 and 2.5 amp hour battery, so I know it’s not much but I am going to pick this up tomorrow from my local Ace Hardware who has it in stock because I know it will at least power several devices while we wait for power to be restored.

    • @TechMadeEzy
      @TechMadeEzy  Год назад

      Thank you
      I’d recommend getting larger batteries down the road for more power and longer run times, try buying kits when you can, buying. Batteries by themselves is pretty expensive.

      I love the ego platform I have the fan 2 blowers mower 2 chainsaws and about to order work light and about 4 ego batteries every different size and 3 generics 6.0 9.0 and 4.0 I like generic batteries better and with proper maintenance storage using and charging correctly it’s a solid buy. Power emergency inverter and 2 decent batteries your at $ 1000 now if you use enough other of thier products perhaps but generator is better solar depending on how much sun you get could be the best solution. I’m still researching solar bigger initial investment but better than it’s ever been depending on your location

    • @mn1170
      @mn1170 7 месяцев назад

      I just lost power for 13 hours last night 1/9/2024. I also was unprepared. I do have a gas inverter but I would have to turn it off at night because I do not want to leave door unsecured due to extension cord. The nice thing about these is you keep them in your home. The EGO system is designed to use batteries of other EGO products such as lawnmower, trimmer, etc. Bigger batteries are better but like he said they can be expensive and will overtime lose their ability to hold a charge as long as when they were new. IMO the key is to get them a little at a time, maybe a battery a month or something and when you need them it’ll be ready. I’m going to the store today to pick some up

    Would have been nice to have done this with a kilowatt meter so we could see the actual power usage. The inverter can handle an 800 watt surge. I tried my home AV receiver and it tripped the overcurrent trying to turn that on. I put it on a scope and the sine wave looks pretty good. I also have a current probe but I haven't tried that yet.

    They say that a refrigerator can go without power for 4 hours and a chest freezer 24 hours before the contents in them starts to go bad and this is if the door is not constantly opened and closed. I'm thinking that if a manual programmable timer is used, then maybe it is possible to go several days with just one battery. For example with a refrigerator, it maybe possibly for 3 hour on and 3 hours off with a programmed manual timer. What are your thoughts on this?

    I wonder if there is a difference hooking this up to a cold fridge vs one that has been without power for a few hours. Would the initial power pull be to great for the inverter to handle. This could not power up my fridge which had been idle for 18+ hours. I will have to try it again with a fridge that is already cool.

    • @TechMadeEzy

    I watch this video before I purchased the Inverter. The refrigerator demonstration sold me on purchasing the Inverter. As I read the manual, it says that the inverter is for small electrical items like fans, charging phones etc. It implies that a refrigerator should not be used with the inverter. What do you suggest. Should i return the inverter? I bought the inverter to keep our food cold in the refrigerator when we loose house electricity.

      @TechMadeEzy  Год назад

      We do refrigerator tests with all of our PowerStations and inverters that actually have the capability as you could see in this video. It’s all about knowing your wattage, as well as any type of surge or if your compressor kicks on how much it uses. that is totally up to you if you decide to return it.

      I would caution against assuming a smaller Ah battery could handle the same peak power draw. The inverter won’t be the limiting factor but the smaller capacity batteries have less parallel battery cell groups than the 10Ah and 12Ah (4 parallel battery cell groups in these) which reduces their ability to respond to high current demands.

      You just need to know the power requirements. How much wattage also, what about the startup wattage the surge that’s important. This can only handle an 800 W surge for one second which is a long. Lastly, the largest battery you can put on it right now is a 12 amp hour battery would that provide enough runtime? If not, do you have additional batteries?
