    I might be tripping but by definition this dude is like the clearest case of an industry plant💀 like his manager got him famous before he even did shit so I don’t know how that wouldn’t make him an industry plant. Like good for bro for having a good ass manager but am I wrong??

      There’s certain cases where people drag it and some people aren’t industry plants but people won’t to knock them so I understand but there is most definitely industry plants. There’s a subset of people who think everyone is an industry plant and then there’s those that think nobody is when the truth is in the middle.
      If 4batz isn’t an industry plant, there is none. Like OP mentioned, this is the textbook definition

    I said he was a plant back on meamis first reaction video people just don’t understand what the term means. Usually it’s someone really small who’s doing pretty well that a label finds and decides to sign. From there they may change their name and look, delete old songs, and will have a whole rollout organized by the label to “organically” blow them up, generally something bound to be highly shareable and with vitality to it. Industry plants were the norm for the industry. It was a normal part of artist development. Indie artists and the internet offered alternatives and labels in the 2010s saw this and tried hiding artist backstories more and more. Only thing is this is usually disingenuous from said artist and not an organic rebrand.

    Shawn is ignorant here, with the rise of tiktok, artists have a lot more leverage when negotiating, why would I force myself into a long term deal when I can sign an EP, OVO gets my debut royalties and then so can retain ownership on anything following it

    • @ShawnCeeLIVE
      @ShawnCeeLIVE  5 месяцев назад +41

      The type of music 4batz makes isn't lucrative outside of streaming. Very few would pay to see him perform live based off the music he's blown up off of. Also you're incorrect, tiktok doesn't give anyone leverage, it offers very little in the way of protection and longevity (IE James Blake). Him signing for an EP is not an indication of it being in a "bad deal", it reinforces the "industry plant" narrative because almost no one gets a deal like that.

    • @vnoapvblo2832
      @vnoapvblo2832 5 месяцев назад +3

      @@ShawnCeeLIVE 100% right bro. The only disagreement here tik tok not giving leverage. As someone who worked at a label it almost sucks to say an artist who’s blown up off of tik tok has way more leeway of leverage compared to a much more talented artist. Longevity? No. But in terms of contractual leverage it most definitely does and hopefully it changes soon.

      @@ShawnCeeLIVE as someone who works in the industry what is an industry plant? Having a smart manager with an eye for creative direction and connections has been historically how music blows up, the difference is the internet has just now allowed it to where you don’t have to sign to a major label to get the same promotion because the reality is most strategy’s revolve around creating a viral tiktok campaign and their strategy was super simple, it’s the “music video that doesn’t match the music” viral campaign, it makes it easier for a word of mouth campaign which is the strongest form of promotion… also people who make reaction videos are now going to have their audience spamming them because they want to see the reaction to the dichotomy of the video and the music

      @@ShawnCeeLIVE I would also argue the difference in his tiktok blow up compared to other artists is the viral aspect is about him and his look verse a lot of other tiktok blows up are about other people making tiktoks to the song, the brand awareness of his looks should make it easier to sell shows
