This is the coolest thing i’ve seen in a while. I don’t even care how it sounds, i want it because of how unique it looks. It just has so much character.
RIGHT?? It’s just a beautiful object
Buy it. Don't like it? Awesome looking curiosity.
To my ears I was blown away by the Clarion in comparison on the vocals!! Clear sound but with body and creaminess. I think I could eq it to sound like the Tierra and maybe improve on the clarity. However on the acoustic guitar the Tierra was insane. I'm not sure I could eq another mic to get that much warmth and character that it got
Yes!! The acoustic tone is crazy!! The Clarion though....just another level.
Yep, this video just made me want the Clarion!
I am so in love with the sound of this mic... the moment I heard you do the blind guitar tests, it sounded so warm and intimate. Like you said, very nostalgic. It has a character! I've been using SM57 for everything I do, and I used my friends microphones, like Neumanns and Rode.. but never thought of getting one... after this video I would be happy to get it and get inspired to do something new! However, its just too expensive... but honestly, if i had this kind of money now - i would order it hahaha. Thank you for yet again really cool video! To see something new (old) but different from everything else is very refreshing.
Sounds really beautiful, almost has a dynamic mic dark and warm tone
Trust me if you ever have a chance to try it in person you'll realize the dark tone is where the dynamic similarities stop hahaha
I like it's un-hyped response on vocals. Sounds marvelous and just right on acoustic guitar. Nice job.
I love the aesthetics of this mic and I think it would sound fantastic with a classic R&B/Motown even late 70's style of music. That price tag though is a bit much...
That would be an awesome use of this mic! Or those retro covers on RUclips :) it is quite expensive though yes
I don’t think it’s any more expensive than any other quality mic.
It kind of reminds me of the Sontronics Corona. Not just the aesthetics, but the somewhat wonky frequency response. Have you ever had a chance to try that mic out? Would be thrilled to see a bedroom-producers view on it.
I haven't personally no! Its a weird one for sure, maybe sometime in the future :)
This mic is really solid especially for music it reminds me of the old time microphones and work better than most mordern cheap microphone and it's really clear
It’s such a cool tone for music! Haven’t heard anything quite like it
I also made my first dynamic mic with a, 10 rupees diaphragm coil and and a specker magnetic directly connected to head leads of tape audio player. Although the its sound was not balanced. But I learned how to balance vocals in a microphone. I sung number of songs in this microphone.
Just the reference to Jeff Buckley almost made me cry. I miss that guy so much and can't express how grateful I am to have his recordings to listen to.
I used to listen to his dad, Tim's brilliant "No Man Can Find the War" when there was war to be found everywhere. And 56 years later, here we still are. ruclips.net/video/b8Y-Kiqz-4g/видео.html
@@Samasiam War is good business. "Song to the Siren" kills me just like Jeff's singing. Guess talent can definitely be passed on.
Oooh, I'd love to see your take on Ear Trumpet Labs microphones, very similar style, dropdead beautiful, but with a more modern sound
I’ll check them out!
That is one of the coolest looking mics I've seen. It's hillbilly retro, yet modern and classy looking at the same time.
That mic needs that old timey spring shock mount, for looks and even more for the sound.
this looks awesome
Reminds me a bit of ear trumpet labs mics in terms of style which are used a lot in folk and blue grass.
I'll have to check it out!
That deep rumble. Jeezus... for a moment I thought it was an earthquake.
Tierra Audio made a very limited run of this mic with a ribbon capsule. I have one. It's wonderful especially on some voices and most acoustic fretted instruments.
Heyy😁 Not related to this video but... Can you compare the Sennheiser e835/e835s with the shure sm57/58?
I'll make a note of it!
How about a review of the Sony c-80?
I would love to hear this thing being used a Room mic for drums.
That would be sickkk
Thanks for the review! It's funny that without telling you anything beforehand you were able to automatically capture the essence and unique personality of our New Twenties.
Killer microphone guys!
wow damn that is nice in every way
It’s such a beautiful thing to hold too!
I love the idea of putting something into the world that is unapologectic in it's non comformity. Even better when it has an intent behind it. I have owned instruments that are so specfic in what they brought to the table, they were almost unusable for the music I play for a living. At the same time - in some way that's why I loved them so much. I agree that in a wolrd where there is less and less differentiation - this is beautiful if one has the money for such beauty in their life:)
It would sound so good in clarinet too!! Super retro and vintage tone
@@AudioHaze I wish I had the money and the room to justify it! You think your environment is bad….sheesh. I am hoping to be allowed to have a voice in the building of a recording studio at the school I teach. Watch out if that happens lol
That dude is an awesome singer!
Love the aesthetics, don't think the sound would work for me (spoken word)
Tierra Audio does make some really nice gear tho, their line of inline boosters sounds amazing
Definitely, not a fan of it for spoken word either
Very interesting design
Absolutely
You're just saying that because it's what you typed.
@@repawnd1 accurate and mindblowing
Overall really impressed with the sound of it.
This looks like the og microphones in the golden age of radio.
Not just looks! Lots of the mechanics of the mic are period correct (I believe with modern updates though)
This is a cool design
hell yeah it is :)
I love it
ok, i must say, once eathan is on that mic...it sounded even better than that gigantic pil mic...i get it now
I'll let him know!
Placid Audio Carbonphone next?
Hahahaha maybe some day
Cool
Hoooooo boy that price.
I'd love one but...
i personally think the bomblet looks cooler and sounds nicer but considering this is 800$ cheaper id say its still worth it because its a sick looking mic
Is it $800 cheaper for you? Its around $350 cheaper in my area
cool
never thought a UFO could be a mic... 🤣
Hahahahha
It sounds like a telephone!
It's a UFQ
Suena como un ribbon.
Absolutely :)
Lauten all the way, amazing how bad tierra sounds but knowing their other stuff it's not surprising
coolest looking mic but certainly not the best sounding...kind of reflects on that video you did on mics that look really good for content creators
I think its very unique sounding, especially on a vocal and in the context of a mix, but its definitely not for everyone
Sorry, I fail to understand why there is an attraction to a microphone that, by design, sounds distorted. Minus 0ne, even if it does look interesting.
It’s definitely not for everyone
