But then he went more expirimental and also made Reft of Dead Monkeys and stopped making Christian music and made music to offend church kids for some weird reason. Later in life he went back to church and is a fan of Mark Driscoll or goes to his church. A strange guy who was punk but became a total hipster indie rock guy.
Yeah that first 90 Pound Wuss album does not at all prepare you for the later two. Still, all of them are fucking rad. Couldn't get into Raft Of Dead Monkeys as much, but it is also pretty cool. Jeff pops up in the Old School Tooth & Nail facebook group fairly frequently too.
It was super fun, Drain was the craziest set, no barricade Turnstile was fun but I wish, as I always wish, they'd play some older stuff. Hatebreed broke the mini stage diving platform in front of the Shed stage was sick. Judge and Trash Talk were borderline riots, Madball and Jesus piece preshow was also sick. Mindforce may have been my favorite set for participation and BTBAM playing a throwback set was incredible.
Bought tickets before the lineup came out. Mxpx is 100% top of my list, what’s been great about FF is that there’s 3 stages, so even if something isn’t your cup of tea you’ll find something or have a chance to check out merch row. Plus the community that has come out of this has been pretty rad
After 40 plus years of live music and a broken everything including my neck I'm gonna probably stick to short walks in the house, staring out my window 🪟 and perhaps the Renaissance Fair ( does that still exist?) if I'm feeling bold and daring like a Barry Manilow lyric
Wow, I used to live in Birmignham. Dangit. Now I live far away. Last show I saw there was Magruder Grind in some weird historic Firehouse. All of the random bands sounds like a Tooth and Nails tyle festival where random pop punk and ska and then some metalcore. This is a lot of previously Christian bands and a lot of secular bands. Many bands from the past I didn't even realize were active.
When I was a kid I saw MXPX at six flags elitch gardens. I would be excited for Norma Jean, Thursday, saosin, enter shikari, and bouncing souls. I smoke weed (constantly) so I would never travel to Alabama. Why a furnace? That’s what they called ironworks in the confederate states.
