천장에 달린 하얀 바이올린='나'의 워너비, 음악적 이상향, 자신보다 더 큰 재능, 욕심
멤버들이 연주하는 갈색 바이올린=현재 '나'의 음악적 능력, 만족하지 못함
시작할 때부터 천장의 바이올린을 향해서 손을 뻗으면서 시작함.
음악적 욕심과 이상에 손을 뻗지만 닿지 못하고, 주찬이 파트 시작 '웃음을 잃은 것 같아 행복을 잊은 것 같아'
그리고 무대 중간중간 멤버들이 괴로운 듯이 찡그리는 표정을 지음
+파가니니의 배경지식 : 니콜로 파가니니의 음악적 재능은 '악마에게 영혼을 팔아넘긴 대가'라는 수식어가 붙을 정도로 천재적이었지만, 그는 매일 10시간 넘게 연주를 연습할 정도로 음악에 미쳐있었고, 항상 더 높은 음악적 경지에 오르기를 갈망함.

I do not understand how anyone can claim this performance did not tell a story?? I can clearly see Golden Child trying to portray their struggle for perfection.
The choice of their song Wannabe, showing how they want to be perfect combined with Paganini's violin piece, one of the hardest composition made for violin, I can clearly see the boys wanting to express how these can be combined to form a beautiful almost tragic quest to be perfect.
In my opinion, they were telling the how you need achieve almost perfection to be able to give Paganini's composition justice.
The tragedy when you listen to Golden Child's singing "I wannabe you" felt like a cry. As Joochan tries to play 24 Caprices and he struggles to BE Paganini. He knows he can never be the composer but it doesn't stop him from reaching for what he sees to be perfection. Potrayed as he was reaching out to a violin until the end.
If you ask me, (and of course I am biased) this deserves Top 3. To rank anything lower and be eliminated after this performance, would be the real tragic story.

Rumour since last week has it, that they actually got eliminated😭😭😭😭 i hate mnet for even adding an elimination! why couldn’t they just keep it like queendom? why do these shows always try to bring groups down. don’t idols already have enough hardships and pressure! why attack them even more! i’m 100% sure, all the groups applied for this competition BECAUSE there were no eliminations in queendom... you could clearly see their shock when the mc’s revealed that there would be an elimination round! 😣 mnet did them dirty😭😖

You know how Van Gogh’s artworks weren’t appreciated in his lifetime as much as they are now? This is because some masterpieces are way ahead of their time that people failed to appreciate them. This is the same as Golcha’s performances not being appreciated in the show, but the time they were already out and the show is being broadcasted, the crowd is clapping and in awe while watching them.

완전 예술적이다... 무대구성이 원래 이런건지는 모르겠지만 바이올린에 미친사람이 남이 들었을땐 완벽함 그 자체이지만 자기 마음엔 완벽하지 않아서 더 완벽함을 갈망하고 추구하면서 점점 미쳐가다가 그렇게 결국 “바이올린계의 신의 경지”에 올라서 그 누구도 이 자리를 빼앗을 수 없게 되었다 이런 느낌??

so here are some of my insights/theories on their performance.
wannabe is a song about finding and searching for their true self.
joochan is the main character in the performance.
at the very start they had a powerful dance routine and it ended when one of the members tried to grab the white violin.
for me, violin represents their dream or desire of being a renowned artist.
while white represent purity, divination and new beginnings.
golcha is dreaming to be a renowned artist with their talents. joochan and jaehyun sang the first lines of the song where joochan is holding the violin but is not playing it.
the performance progress like telling a story of the hardships they had to be the 'wannabe' they aimed to be.
at the middle of the performance joochan played the caprice 24 (using a typical violin and not the white one) which is a very hard piece. its like in this moment they are trying to fully show and maximize their talents. some of the members are also holding a violin in jangjun's rap which makes it more obvious that they are trying and working hard to be the best.
at the very end, they had a dance break where joochan is again on the center position like telling us that joochan is the main character.
the performance ends with joochan trying to reach the white violin. its like telling people that they haven't reached their wannabes. because they still have hardships to face.
and as you can see. they don't have any back up dancers. its because the story is about finding their true self. and they want us to focus more on golcha.

EDIT: I just saw on twitter that there are 10 instruments hanging above that white violin. 10 instruments representing golcha. 10 instruments that can bring great harmony.

확실히 풀버전이 오케스트라의 웅장한 소리랑 주찬이의 바이올린 소리가 잘 담겨서 너무 좋은 듯. 뒷배경이 좀 허전해서 아쉽긴 하지만 그래도 다른 그룹처럼 화려하고 센 무대로 꾸미는 게 아니라 골차만의 색을 잘 보여준 것 같다♡ 금둥이들 아쉽게도 탈락해서 더 이상 무대 못 보는 게 너무 아쉽긴 하지만 너네가 못해서 탈락한 게 아니고, 정말 수고했다고 말해주고 싶다ㅎㅎ 금둥이들 진짜 멋졌고 무대 꾸미느라 수고했어 사랑해♡

joochan’s *“i’m a fool fool fool for you”* cured my depression.
I'm glad they didn't include any extravagant stunts or excessive dance routine into their performance. I mean its not like they can't, they even won bronze medal in group artistic gymnastics on isac. Its only that they couldn't afford another injury like what led to their long hiatus last year. From what i noticed, they obviously wanted to showcase more of their vocals and synchronization which in a way a plus point for those who seek these important qualities in a kpop performance.

Jangjun just can backflip, TAG can do tumbling, Donghyun are great dancers and they are quite creative when it comes to any intro or performances.

Hello there my dear, in orchestra arrangement there are at least 2 parts or maybe 4 parts.. And each of these don't have the same melodies. The first and third seat usually carries a lot more melodies and high notes. While the second and forth seat are the bass part. And hence these parts will create a harmonious melody. So if you are gonna say that Joochan or the orchestra aren't playing live, they did. *FULLSTOP*

I hope everyone read this. Hong Joochan is an epitome of perfection with golden heart. He has wide knowledge in music more than you know, he knows well classical music as he was in an orchestra for 3 years and playing violin for 9 years, besides being a classical violinist he also specializing in piano jazz, he also has knowledge in indie music since he is a vocalist of a band too. Now his profession is as a Kpop idol. Despite having wide knowledge he is really a humble person, he never talk bad or downgrade someone who doesn't have much knowledge in music, instead he teaches them and learning together without sounding like he is more inferior or something. He works harder than everyone else but never once complaining. When goldenness send him simple support message, he will reply us one by one with a really long message despite his busy schedule, when we are sad he will sing for us so we aren't sad anymore. Not even a goldenness, I just support them but the boys deserve more. Everything they brought us in RTK is art, every performance is purely masterpiece and I have no complaints about them because they all made me goosebumps. Just give them the recognition they deserve.

나는 이 무대 볼수록 뭔가 애잔하고 슬픔.. 물론 개인의 해석에 따라 달라지겠지만 뭔가 가사도 그렇고 하늘에 있는 바이올린 향해 손뻗지만 닿지 못하는 것도 그렇고 음악을 너무 사랑해서 반쯤 미친 사람이 자신의 전부를 내걸어서 고군분투 하다 처음으로 바이올린을 손에 쥐게 되었는데 결국 그게 처음이자 마지막이 되어버린 느낌..? 진짜 누가 말씀하신데로 비운의 음악가 느낌인데 그걸 진짜 잘 표현한 것 같음ㅠㅜ.. 주찬이 바이올린 연주할때 주변에 4명이 춤추는거 보고 소름돋았음 정말 실력있는, 주변을 조종하는? 춤추게 하는? 힘이 있는 그런 천재 음악가가 어떤 사연때문에 빛을 보지 못했지만 음악을 너무 사랑한 나머지 끝까지 비운의 음악가의 삶을 선택한 것 같아..원래 워너비는 매번 남녀간의 사랑으로만 다가왔는데 이렇게 무대를 꾸미니까 새롭고 좋다ㅜㅜㅜ 사랑에 대한 집착인 원곡은 자칫하면 찌질할 수 있는 집착 느낌이었다면 삶을 건 음악에 대한 집착인 이번 편곡은 애잔하고 짠해ㅠㅠ.. 으아 그냥 너무 감명받아서 썼는데 사실 나도 내가 뭐라고 썼는지 모르겠다 그냥 골든차일드 사랑한다고..//

I saw the comment saying that they lack storytelling, so I'm writing this down.. First, they arranged a white violin on the main stage, the frames on top of that and a few normal violins. The duplicate white violin was shot and you see in the way they deck the ending, they are significantly symbolic. At the dance intro, they end by jumping and reaching up. If you watch from the front, I think it was intended to look like as if the tip of the hand is reaching for the white violin. Next, the vocal starts and at this time, the white violin is in Joochan's hand. Then at 1:18, the orchestra version begins for real. Starting from 1:36, the beginning part of Niccolo Paganini's Caprice No. 24 is mixed in. FYI, this is a piece that is famous for being difficult to play. And Paganini was a genius, his musical talent is even described as 'selling his soul to the devil', but he was crazy about music, practicing for more than 10 hours every day and he was said to be always eager to climb to a higher stage of musicality. Now back to the stage again, Joochan starts playing Paganini's piece. At the end, they were shot from above so we almost couldn't see it, but around 4:19, Joochan's hand is reaching for the white violin, in the same manner as the intro. If you take into account them choosing Paganini to play on a violin and reaching for the white violin at the start and at the end, the white violin symbolizes 'the perfect musicality' as well as 'a high stage of musicality'. Substitute this to the preceding situations. Joochan holding the white violin in the beginning is him in the eyes of the public being seen as a musician with near perfect musical talent and skills. In the scene where Joochan is absorbed in playing Paganini's piece, the violin in his hand is a normal violin, indicating that he feels that his musicality is not perfect. He feels that his musicality is lacking even though it is enough, and he expresses his thirst for a perfect music with the movement of reaching towards the white violin. It's too long so I couldn't write everything, but if you focus on the lyrics too, everything lined up perfectly that I got goosebumps. Therefore, in conclusion, their storytelling was not lacking. It was metaphorical and embedded very well into the stage. The story was enough !
and I have to add: during Joochan's solo violin performance, we can see how the other members were seen dancing around him, with many repeated 'worshipping' dance steps, where they kneel, lie on stomach, basically look like as if they're bowing to him. this scene alone can be interpreted and related to the myth of Paganini league and deal with the Devils. Like there's myth that Paganini (who's personified by Joochan) even refused the priest away instead he keeps playing his violin till his last breath, because he can't get enough and out of greed to upskill himself as that perfect violinist people picture him to be. While another theory (if we relate to the myth), they say the audience who see him performing -- either they were terrified to see souls/devils guiding Paganini's bow, playing the violin with him -- or see the spirits dancing to the beat around his stage, some even see phantoms simply being there in spirit. There's also saying how the audience themselves become too absorbed with his skills that they can't help but to be 'sucked' into the performance and become crazy over his violin sounds. Some of them need exorcism too. Thus the ' madness' shown by the rapid dance steps and how the beat picked up faster and faster after that. and try to look at those final few seconds before Joochan stop playing the violin. His face was in pain, maybe to embody Paganini's infamous 'he'll play the violin madly -- rolling his eyes until only the whites shown' or his frustration for still feeling inadequate despite how good people has been telling him. And look how his ambition has him sacrificed his own soul and physically, but still he can't reach / achieve the peak of perfection, as symbolised through the hung white violin. They keep their theme and colour from the very first of their appearance in this competition.This is like a reference to their first introduction performance too. They offering their existence to sacrifice their being, just to reach for the crown -- the recognition. I guess, this ongoing war with themselves is continued in T.O.P too, in which they managed (albeit temporarily) defeat the dark side of themselves while paving their own way and build a kingdom where they can have their own people inside. But in the end, with those 'people' around them now, they are addressing those desires to be the very best, wanting to keep that respectable image so they can fit the narrative of best artist, but instead of competing with others, they are greedily trying to defeat themselves to be the best version of themselves, the person, the artist they can potentially be. there's a lot of interesting theories out there as shared on twitter by intelligent goldenness and multis so people, please appreciate the story that Golden Child is trying to tell. The secrets are there for us to decode, and they felt much much more amazing once you try to get under the surface.

Hi, a new Goldenness here. Like literally. I still don't know the members. Not gonna lie, I instantly fell in love with the song's tune when I first heard it and that's saying a lot (I kinda have my preferences when it comes to music lol). I listened to the original and I thought, "Damn, even without lyrics, the 'I wanna be, wannabe you' still hits differently" and that the song was a masterpiece by itself alone. BOY WAS I WRONG. When I heard "Nal nuntteuge hae,
Nal chumchuge hae" with the violin sounds, it was satisfying (in a weird way???). I mean, the way that the violin creates a distinct sound from the instrumental, yet still manages to go well with it, is L e g e n d a r y. It hits a fine line between "Too Little" and "Too Much". I hate that they got eliminated because of the shady decision made by M(snake)net (although I am not saying that the other groups deserve to get eliminated...trust me. I am a To Moon also). The ending chorus with the muffled instrumental slowly coming back was phenomenal. The story added depth too. It paid homage to actual events! Also the White Violin among the Brown Violins is aesthetically pleasing.
The judge is the problem one. They know little about music thats why they cant see the story.

Something I've noticed is some people don't want to put much thought into a performance that they're watching. I suppose that's where Golcha """"went wrong."""" (In quotes because this was brilliant.)
I've been working my way through all of the performances from the entire show as I catch up on what I've missed because of Mnet not uploading the eps. By all performances, I mean all of them--every group, every performance.
And, consistently, Golcha's routines were the ones that really stuck out to me.
Their stages are so elegant. The concepts are beautiful. Their vocals and raps are amazing on top of that. The choreography is near-perfect. These aren't idols, these are artists that genuinely care about music.
Look, I didn't really come on this show for a reason. I'm watching it for Pentagon, but I don't consider myself a Universe. I don't stan any of these groups, and watching all of them grow from an outside perspective has been fascinating. From what I can tell, Golcha has a sense of storytelling and intrigue that is weaved into the performance almost subliminally. Once you catch the thread, though--for example, here, the white violin--bang! The whole story is revealed in its wonderous splendor.
Maybe it's being a violinist myself, but I keep finding myself drawn back to this stage time and again as I work through the performances on this show. This one was just so effortlessly breathtaking.
No, it wasn't over the top. No, it wasn't flashy. And I guess that cost them for this show. But forget Msnake. I really hope Golcha don't change their style of stages, performance, or anything due to this show, because whatever factors were involved in voting them off are irrelevant.

And by the way, Msnake seriously have done them dirty with the camera angles this whole show. These angles are horrible.
EDIT 2: Back here after getting caught up in their Burn It comeback and once again I'm here to rant about how good they are at STORYTELLING. They have such a good way of telling stories and showing plot. I was _so_ invested in their MV and, heck, I don't even know half of their names! THAT'S what tells me they're good storytellers, because if you're good at that then you don't NEED someone to know who you are. You just need someone who's willing to watch, willing to listen. Proud of you, Golcha.
EDIT 3: Back here yet again as I'm finally watching the series. Their departure from the show still breaks my heart--they really could've (and, in my opinion, should've) gone all the way.

Enough to prove. Golden child is a distinctive idol. They are true artists, they know how to perform. They enjoy their performance, they are ABSORBED in their performance. Golcha here brought out their "golden" aura, the classy and elegant style. I think it's their signature to differentiate them from other dark concept groups. What's fascinated is, golcha ALSO slayed cute and energetic concept like they did in the past, for me their performance somehow ALWAYS radiates "GOLDEN" energy, a "winner" energy.
By the fact that many people getting interested in their rtk stages is already a prove that they are winning. They are getting recognition that they are that top quality idol. They are winning people's heart. They make goldenness proud.
I've been following them since it's u era and i think it's fair to say that they got HUGE potential. I enjoy all of their performance. I enjoy their varieties. They gave me a lot of happiness and healing through out the years.
They've been through a lot yet they still manage to give ness laughter, to give the best they can. The fact that i'm still staying for them even after a year hiatus is really something lol.

I mean, yes, they don't have that really massive props to show their storyline but they show their story by their movements and by showing off their talents. They want to give us a performance that is symbollic and memorable. Memorable in a way that they will remember the group golden child by their talents. That's why a lot of people was amazed and praised by Tag's dance break in T.O.P performance and Joochan playing violin.

When we read complicated novel then we need not just once to read... We need many time to understand the plot and make conclusions accurately... Its doesn't mean the novel didn't have a story... Its happened to this Wannabe Paganini... What the violin, why they can't grab...the song... Anything... We need to open dictionary/googling first before make any conclusions... Sometime people forget that abstract painting is still art no matter what. If only people has enough patience to do some research and try to understand. Art comes in many forms, Golden Child has their own way to tell us story. It's a choice to try to understand or judge whatever we like. It's understandable that everyone has their own standard of masterpiece, but with good judgement everyone also needs to understand that everything has their own standard. Golden Child is brilliant and I do believe, they will "soar high to the sky" someday.

Some said that .... group didn't have amazing story, some said ....group doesn't have powerful dance, some said that .... group didn't have amazing vocal, some said that .... group depends a lot on backup dancer, some said that ..... use excessive props. Can all of you appreciate all the hard work this amazing groups put in their performances. Good performances have a lot of different charms. It could be vocal, rap, dance, song, story,etc. If any of you continue this kind of behaviour, I'm not surprised that when they announced the final winner, a lot of people complaining like what some of people did during Queendom.

I only hope golden child didn't blame themselves for this. Seeing Joochan crying, blaming himself made it harder than any negative comments I read. Maybe we need to have a class where people learn to make constructive critics and delivers an opinion politely. They didn't need any bad comments and pointed out their "lacking" (heartless netizens' said), all they need is encouragement. Yes, under pressure may brings good outcome for them to try harder next time, but too much pressure will lower self esteem and destroy their confidence. Hope, we can really learn to support not to crush.

You should be grateful that you have a chance to know GC whose not only can sing and dance, but they're talented in many ways. GC gives you different concepts in every week. Plus RTK without Jangjun will be boring :/

I wasn't gonna comment but people are saying they were eliminated?! This performance actually made me tear up... I'm a viewer that wasn't rooting for anyone in particular since I like everyone, but I've got to say all three of golcha's performances so far have really blown me away when there were quite a few misses from other groups. I'm just flabbergasted.

To ppl say this perform don't have story line, i wanna tell you that WANNABE song is about someone who want to know abt what s/he want to be, and from watch this perform i think joochan is the main character who want to know what he want to do, and violin is he soul.. he doesn't know who he is and what he wants to be, so he tries to reach for his violin to get his soul, and if you pay attention to joochan's expression that is very empty already illustrates that joochan is playing a character who wants to find a soul and knows what he wants to be
