ruby just a safety advise - when youre using acetone/ nail polish remover, please always put out any candles or other flames around you. it can be very dangerous and you can literally start a fire if you accidentally spill it and the candle is near by!
👍Well spotted,candles and acetone are very best friends!! The candle wick can produce a long flame in mild drafts,anywhere near curtains, avoid.

You can easily revarnish the top of the desk and it will look brand new. Go to a hardware store and buy a gel type stripping agent. It usually just wipes off after it sits for a bit. Then just restain in with light oak stain. Just wipe it on and off with an old rag. Good as new.
Paint stripper that's flammable! Also messy,and it has to be handled carefully.
A small tin of quick dry,water based, coloured varnish and a light sanding should suffice.🖌️💅😀

For the stain on the desk i would advise applying some vegetable oil (I use olive oil) with a cloth on the area and repeat the process until its no longer visible. It usually work for me!

If you genuinely want to change courses, it's not too late! You can normally change right up until your second year :) and after then, but if you change before your second year you may not have to repeat a year!

I spilled nail polish remover on a very old teak dresser recently and had a little panic, but if you rub cooking oil on it with a soft cloth the discolouration should look quite a bit better!

The lark ascending by Ralph Vaughan Williams (Hilary Hahn's recording is my favourite)
Romanian Rhapsodies no. 1 and 2 by George Enescu (the second might be my all time favourite piece)
Dvorak String Quartet no. 12 in F major (this one is the most amazing string quartet pieces I've ever listened to)
Mahler Symphony no. 5
Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D major
Sibelius Violin Concerto
Korngold Violin Concerto
Goldmark Violin Concerto
Mozart Violin Concertos no. 3, 4 and 5
And finally, I highly recommend you listen to Bach (my favourites are partita no. 3 and sonata no. 3).

@@faithwisdom788 I think it helps a lot if you know what musical instruments you genuinely like listening to. For example, I had never particularly liked listening to piano pieces, but when I discovered violin repertoire, I was amazed by how diverse it was. Violin is my favourite instrument, but I can say that I find beautiful any other type of string instrument (cello, double bass). That's why I usually love to listen to orchestral pieces. I recommend you to start with pieces that are a little bit shorter, like The lark ascending and Bach's partitas and sonatas, and from there, I think listening to any concerto would be amazing (I highly recommend Sibelius and Tchaikovsky). Just make sure to give it some time and continue listening to the pieces that you actually find enjoyable and beautiful.
