spend 4 hours stoned trying to lace my primo pro to my proper rim using my other wheel as a guide and it was my first build and ive been riding and building bmx for years just never wheels and i personally downloaded your video man and watched it while i was building the wheel so thanks again
Laced my first wheel last night!!!! This video helped... I got one side done the. Went to do the other and nothing was lining up so I unlaced the intire thing and relaced it. This video realy helps
I build wheels at a bike shop I work at, so if any cho-mos are talking crap about this video, go somewhere else because he does a great job explaining everything and your wheels will come out so perfect if you lace them exactly how he says. Great video!
Just finnished lacing my wheel no thanks to this video it helps so much all I need to do now is trim it abit as it's a little buckled thank you so much! :)
Thanks so much man thanks to you i got my bmx working again i could never repay you wirh my new free coaster im ready to go holler from newfoundland ur the best!!!
dude i just build something similar to your true ing stand it now my wheel is perfect dude ur awesome you saved me alot of money and now i cant true a wheel easy thnks sooo much
@arsenalfalco for months I've been trying to figure out how to lace my wheel, the other youtube video's didn't help. However, this video helped me and i figured out how to do it.You are my hero!
SUPERB!!! I USE THIS VIDEO SO OFTEN... its cool to have your video as a checklist for my wheel building... even if i have to do a lateral 3 cross lacing (so i switch sides)... Thank You Very Much!
just did this. the video helped a ton. but it was a pain in the ass. now i know why local bike shops charge so much to do it for you. and after all that, i still get to wait a whole day till i can ride it because my friend insisted i take it to the bike shop to get tensioned right to be safe. Great. frustration and impatiens sets in. :)
sometimes that happens, not sure why, that happened when i laced a wheel up for my buddy. i just went around and loosened the opposite side a little bit and had him help me pull the hub closer so i could get the spoke in. and it should be over over under.
Hi, please could you do a in depth video on how to true the wheel? this video was great and a step by step vid on how to true from you would be really helpful. thank you
this was awesome! thx! i didnt even lace a 36 h wheel ilaced a 48 and it worked thx! it made lacing a wheel easierthan changing a tire haha thx dude look forward to the newervids
this worked great for me but I found if you put the first spoke in where shown here(next to valve on left) the overall pattern will cause the valve hole to sit in a cross of the spokes which means it's very difficult to get a pump connected. to fix this put the first spoke 2 holes to the left of where suggested here and continue to do the same pattern through the rest of the spokes. this will leave the valve hole in a gap in the spokes which means you can connect a pump easily!!
@bored6010 that just means you have a 48 spoked hub. make sure your rim has 48 holes as well. and when you get to the over over under part, just go over over over under and you will be fine.
21SpAcE21- I just laced my 36 hub to a 48 rim, I'm sure it will work. You have to skip ever 4th hole, so what i did was put duct tape over every 4th hole as your 1st step, then proceed in the exact same way! looks a bit diff but rides like a charm
not sure. its a new hub so i doubt its in the spoke calc on pijin that i linked. i would cal danscomp saying you are looking at buying spokes, even if you arent buying any from em. give em your hub and hub and they will tell you the length
that was great thanks for the info maybe if you have time you can show us the tightening of the spoke nipples to get the wheel in the final true setup but you did that perfect!
i just bought a khe reverse freecoaster and i dont want to waste money on a bike shop putting it together for me but i dont want to break my spokes, can u give me some tips?
hey man, i'm getting the odyssey vandero 2 hub, and an odyssey hazard lite rim, the spoke calculator said 186.9mm, but i can't find any 187mm spokes, will 188mm work also, it's a double wall rim so that extra mm isn't going to poke through anything, and there will be a rimstrip and also, i have fat tubes, so i don't really think it's gonna poke through my tube, or should i get 186mm spokes?
i tried to lace it to an angled rim (where the right side spokes go to the left side of the rim) and I couldn't get all the spokes in, i got about 28 in before i couldn't get the rest, so should i go under under over or what?
Thank you for the tutorial you made something complicated look easy I would like to try this one day, I have one question where did you get the bike spokes?
@arsenalfalco thanks for this dude. you came out with this in perfect timing. i was just about to go to the bike shop and have to drop like 40 bucks to have them build me up a fixed geared rim. but i just lace a rim first try thanks to your video and i dont think there were any fuck ups
is there any other way than a spoke calculator to find out what spoke lenght I need? I tried 5 or 6 spoke calculators and almost all of em give different results... thanks!
What if iv done the first bit of one side, then turn over and you say line it up and put it in the one to the right, im soo confused iv used this video soo many times to lace all my rims but this hub has marks from where the other spokes have been, the marks only add up if i put it to the hole in the left, iv already tried haveing the spokes in the other hole at the start but itsjust not working out does it work if i put it to the hole to the left?
can you explain the ending? where you said to screw in the spokes evenly to the tip of the spoke? to where if you do that evenly it wont need as much truing? that part got me confused.
where would i start if i want to cross lace my spokes because i watched the vid last time and tried it in the other hole of the valve hole that u started and it came out weird?
Im want to lace up a karl poynter sig freecoaster hub, with Odyssey quadrants, the driver side is larger then the non driver side as well, what do i do for spokes?
@odiLongnecks oh, and when tightening those spokes, if you look at the spokes and nipples from the inside of the rim (you know without the rimstrip on it yet) if i tighten every spoke and they reach the top of the nipple, will my wheel be trued (or pretty much trued) or is it gonna wobble all over the place? ;p
spend 4 hours stoned trying to lace my primo pro to my proper rim using my other wheel as a guide and it was my first build and ive been riding and building bmx for years just never wheels and i personally downloaded your video man and watched it while i was building the wheel so thanks again
2022 still here. Been watching this video before every wheel I’ve ever laced. You’ve helped me lace dozens of wheels man thanks lol
Laced my first wheel last night!!!! This video helped... I got one side done the. Went to do the other and nothing was lining up so I unlaced the intire thing and relaced it. This video realy helps
Thanks dude! I laced my wheel perfectly with no mistakes thanks to your awesome tutorial! Only took me 40 minutes too!
just letting you know, out of all the tut vids for anything ive ever seen, yours is by far the best. your good at explaining things :p
This was the first video that taught me to lace a rim and I’ve been using it ! It’s been 5 years
I build wheels at a bike shop I work at, so if any cho-mos are talking crap about this video, go somewhere else because he does a great job explaining everything and your wheels will come out so perfect if you lace them exactly how he says. Great video!
Literally best video on RUclips for laceing

Thank you! took me an hour for my first wheel plus truing. then 20 minutes for my 2nd! awesome vid.
I saw this tutorial back in 2016, now im lacing a new wheel and Definitely using this as a guide again
Thanks for this vid helped me out a bunch and saved myself £25, had a little issue with it but i managed to wangle it together, much appreciated

Thank you much buddy I got it first try!first time ever lacing and it came out perfect!I appreciate it so much!
I want to try to lace a wheel myself but im scared ill fuck it up. Do you think I should lace it or just have danscomp lace it?
this worked great for me but I found if you put the first spoke in where shown here(next to valve on left) the overall pattern will cause the valve hole to sit in a cross of the spokes which means it's very difficult to get a pump connected. to fix this put the first spoke 2 holes to the left of where suggested here and continue to do the same pattern through the rest of the spokes. this will leave the valve hole in a gap in the spokes which means you can connect a pump easily!!
@bored6010 that just means you have a 48 spoked hub. make sure your rim has 48 holes as well. and when you get to the over over under part, just go over over over under and you will be fine.
this video was great, even though my rim had lots of bends, i just tightened all the spokes evenly and it was straightttt
hey thanks for the video....it was really helpful ....had my wheels laced in no time at all.....
@arsenalfalco okay thanks but after i go over over over under which whole would i go in? what ever whole it fits better?
21SpAcE21- I just laced my 36 hub to a 48 rim, I'm sure it will work. You have to skip ever 4th hole, so what i did was put duct tape over every 4th hole as your 1st step, then proceed in the exact same way! looks a bit diff but rides like a charm
Wow, thank you! That looks very doable for me. I wanna go radial-laced, except for the rear rim/drive side. I assume radial-lacing is easier?
thanks dude, just laced my first wheel :) slight up and down wobble though only like 3mm but its straight left to right :) thanks
Hey Marcus how would i lace a wheel with 4 cross lacing? thanks and great videos!
Easy thing ever i did it in under an hour and it was my first time thnx bro

not sure. its a new hub so i doubt its in the spoke calc on pijin that i linked. i would cal danscomp saying you are looking at buying spokes, even if you arent buying any from em. give em your hub and hub and they will tell you the length
that was great thanks for the info maybe if you have time you can show us the tightening of the spoke nipples to get the wheel in the final true setup but you did that perfect!

Thank youman you are awsome just laced my 36hole!!!!!! But now I need to lace my 46 hole is it the same concept? Just more spokes??? Help
Thanks!!!!! laced my first wheel it came out straight and didnt need any adjustments what SOOO ever probably better than danscomp's wheel lacers ^_^
dude u are so awesome u saved me 75 dollars thanks allot
i just bought a khe reverse freecoaster and i dont want to waste money on a bike shop putting it together for me but i dont want to break my spokes, can u give me some tips?

thank you sooooooooooo much i was trying to do this for literly 5 hours
then i watched ur video and done it in like 10 mins
I had it all but I didn't put the spoke ,on the other side, to the right of the spoke on the other side. so it really helped, thanks.
Make a tutorial on trueing rims please, you helped me lace it really easy so I figure the trueing will be easy from you.
have you ever herd of a 42 hole rim and hub ? if so would it be the same way of lacing ?
woww i remember the old other one! this so so much nicer! its a good vid but i might be getting the rim how is it?
hey um, ive tried to lace my wheel with this method, but my hub seems to be going going on a slight angle? will this fix when i full tighten it?
Thanks man! Helped me lace my Haro hub to a new Alienation PBR!
i tried to lace it to an angled rim (where the right side spokes go to the left side of the rim) and I couldn't get all the spokes in, i got about 28 in before i couldn't get the rest, so should i go under under over or what?
i'm planning to get the federal v.2 freecoaster... soo what length spokes did u use?
Thank you for the tutorial you made something complicated look easy I would like to try this one day, I have one question where did you get the bike spokes?
@arsenalfalco thanks for this dude. you came out with this in perfect timing. i was just about to go to the bike shop and have to drop like 40 bucks to have them build me up a fixed geared rim. but i just lace a rim first try thanks to your video and i dont think there were any fuck ups
is there any other way than a spoke calculator to find out what spoke lenght I need? I tried 5 or 6 spoke calculators and almost all of em give different results... thanks!
Is there a specific size to the spoke wrench/tightner tool? cause i need one but dunno where to buy one thanks
hey
any idea of what lenght spokes ill need to lace a Eastern Birectional rear hub ?
flanges are diff sizes
realy need your help on this man
cheers fella easy to follow just laced my 1st old school ukai rim in 30 mins
holy shit you laced that rim perfect
What if iv done the first bit of one side, then turn over and you say line it up and put it in the one to the right, im soo confused iv used this video soo many times to lace all my rims but this hub has marks from where the other spokes have been, the marks only add up if i put it to the hole in the left, iv already tried haveing the spokes in the other hole at the start but itsjust not working out does it work if i put it to the hole to the left?
if i have a used rim that has a decent bend to it (it bent cause i snapped four spokes) will it be any harder to lace?
Thanks for the video it helped me a lot I just laced me wheel and trued it and it came out perfect good video.
can you explain the ending? where you said to screw in the spokes evenly to the tip of the spoke? to where if you do that evenly it wont need as much truing? that part got me confused.
how long did it take you to do the whole lacing/truing process?
Hello, Please reply! I have a 9 tooth back hub that I want to lace into a rim, how many holes does the rim need to be?
Thanks man you helped so much . You saved me some cash :D keep up the how to's .
B4 u tightened the spokes what do you do to get the spokes that stick out down?
@ChillOutShockakon
so the 188mm isn't going to be a problem at all?
thanks so much! just laced my first wheel:D i will centainly sub! keep up the great vids!!
My hub is a different height on each side, So will there be different size spokes??
10 years later still my go to ❤️
this was super helpful laced my front wheel perfectly just needs a good tru and its solid
where would i start if i want to cross lace my spokes because i watched the vid last time and tried it in the other hole of the valve hole that u started and it came out weird?
im think Alienation rims but its "non traditional center cross lace pattern"
would i use this same technique?
Is that how many spokes there are on regular bmx bikes live verde for example
im going to assume that is your hub engaging? only thing i can thing of.
If my spokes are a little bit small can i straight lace
and also could i do 3x lacing with 194mm spokes Im using a Primo n4fl flangless which i think that's what you run to a alienation pbr rim.
How do you tell what length of spoke you need, is there any tips or ways to tell with out going to a shop and getting it done?
My wheel is wobbling up and down. But is super true on the sides. What should i do to make it true all the way?
Im want to lace up a karl poynter sig freecoaster hub, with Odyssey quadrants, the driver side is larger then the non driver side as well, what do i do for spokes?
@odiLongnecks oh, and when tightening those spokes, if you look at the spokes and nipples from the inside of the rim (you know without the rimstrip on it yet) if i tighten every spoke and they reach the top of the nipple, will my wheel be trued (or pretty much trued) or is it gonna wobble all over the place? ;p
it's a federal v2 hub and a primo rim but what size spokes did you use?
@arsenalfalco you laced these 3 cross right?
yes, however it would be tricky and i wouldnt suggest it unless you are comfy with regular lacing
when you lace a wheel are all the spokes the same length?
thank you! im gone do this 'morrow after school bud! thanks so much! i reckon you explained it quite right!
@MxRiderCole same as i said with the over over under thing, its just over over over under instead.
What length spokes are you using? I have the exact same set-up (wheels wise) :)
ANSWER PLEASE!
Hey, so is it any different how long the spokes are? and then, How do u know hon long they got to be?!
What would happen if I took some spokes off my wheels on my BMX cause I think it would look nicer that way, would it still be safe?
this helped me so much to lace a wheel thanks man
@irideramps just unscrew em and put em back on. but make sure to retain the same tension
