It’s a very good camera. Performs exceptionally well at any time of the day. Low maintenance, feels good in the palms of ur hands and to me, it’s exciting to use a DSLR compared to a mirrorless. I had mine for 2 years.
But reality is, it’s a 10 year old camera. The lenses, quality, weight, overall technology has all improved a lot today. A mirrorless camera is just like ur mobile phone. It’s easy to use and connectivity friendly compared to a bygone era product. Of coz, ur photos are superior in quality as well.
So by today standards, the D750 may not really be a good buy even for moderate use. Not to forget, its 1080p 60hz video format is kinda outdated too. Not usable.
D750 may be a good platform for someone wanting to improve their photography skills or to have it as a backup camera. It has had its glory days.

Both cameras are brilliant and Id be happy with either, but as a Nikon user Im in that system. Id suggest trying to find them both in a shop and see which you're more comfortable holding. For portraits and street you want a fast lenses, f2.8 or shallower and something like an 85mm for portraits which could be good for street but a 24 - 70mm zoom or fast 35mm prime is good for that

I’ve been shooting with Fujifilm for the past 5 years. I switched to Fuji because I was tired of the size and weight of my D610 and it’s lenses. But a few weeks ago I looked at some of the raw files from my D610 and I had forgotten how good that sensor is. I eventually bought a used D750 that came with a Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 lens. But as soon as I got it and had it in my hands I felt buyer’s remorse. It’s just so big and heavy. I know the sensor is amazing and better than my X-T2’s sensor. But when I actually hold the D750 in my hands, it just feels like a mistake to go back.
So now I’m watching RUclips videos like this to try and convince myself to keep the Nikon. :P

How big a file size you need to print depends on what your import size is, the frequency of your image rasterization, and the quality of your press/pressman. When printing 6-color brochures and magazine work, the minimum RGB file we wanted to bleed an A4 (or equivalent in the States) page size was 18 mb (screening at 150 line per inch, double that for pixel frequency to rasterize. If we were rasterizing at 150 lpi actual, we wanted the image to be at import size to be 300 pixels per inch or better). We preferred 25-30 mb files or the equivalent depending on import size. For a double truck two page spread full bleed, that works out to about 45 mb for the full image. If we were rasterizing at 200 lines per inch, for top quality work we wanted that much more file size. We'd just let the scanner operators know. Just sayin'

Matt, do you think (in general) that the proliferation of Smartphones has been a good or a bad thing for amateur photography? Off the bat the plusses are that you can take loads of photos then delete what you dont want, however is the quality worse than what you would achieve with a decent camera? I remember everyone getting digital cameras when they came out, however you see very few folk using them now?

    • @mattrichardsonsclickbait

"The best camera in the world is the one in your hand" is a pretty famous photography phrase, and its true, it doesnt matter how good or expensive your camera is if its at home, if you see a picture and its not with you its worthless! So in terms of physically having a camera on you all the time and putting the idea of taking a picture in peoples minds, they are amazing, and lots of younger photographers are starting on phones, so they are a great feeder.
They are bad for the compact camera market though as most people no longer bother buying a point and shoot pocket camera as their phone is so good, so the camera makers have suffered but high-end compacts (Canon G7X and Fuji X100 for example) have flourished

Great video. Despite the arrival of the new D780, equipped with a new touch screen (woohoo!) Nikon's D750 remains one of Nikon's best ever cameras equipped with a sensible size sensor. Its the same sensor that's in the D780. But the D780 costs best part of two grand. Where an excellent used D750 can be bought for a few hundred. So right now, because the D750 has been superseded by newer offerings such as Nikon's D780 & the D850 - the D750 is a bargain. Its probably the most capable & affordable FX format DSLR on the market which is capable of pro level stills photography. MPB is a good place to go for a 'like new' used one with a low shutter count. Why do I like the D750 so much ? That's a difficult question to answer. Until you've used one a couple of years. I guess its down to what you feel comfortable using. Oddly, I have Nikon's D810 too. The D810 has a larger sensor. But I don't use it that often. Mainly because I prefer the D750 & I don't need to print my shots poster size. I did spend a while salivating over the prospect of an upgrade to Nikon's D850. But realistically, would the D850 be better for me & my photography than the D750 ? After 12 months dithering, I decided I'd never need the level of detail the D850's 45.7MP sensor offers. So, great news. I saved a stack of dough. For the foreseeable - or until I get bored, the D750 remains the everyday workhorse.

The 800 had more MP but the 750 a newer camera which can do much better video. By the way, the D750 is one of my favourite Nikons (and I have quite a few !) The image quality is still unbelievable and more than what I could ever need.
Having owned and still own several nikons, I've found that each model one has it's own unique IQ, and that's why I still have them, I chop and change as the
mood takes me, and being able to reprogram the buttons keeps consistancy when picking up different cameras. But I have to agree, for the money these things are

    • @mattrichardsonsclickbait

It wont male any difference to product or landscape as you'd be using slow shutter speeds and taking your time there. The lower top shutter speed could possibly be a disadvantage with very fast wildlife, but only very very fast creatures and is mitigated by 2 things, first you'd need very fast (and so expensive) lenses to use them in all but extremely bright conditions, and normally you'd be panning with the animal so wouldn't want to be using a super fast shutter speed
