Today D-ALCC, the last MD-11F operated by Lufthansa Cargo, was retired from their fleet. This marks the end of a 23 year long operating time for one of the most iconic trijets in the Lufthansa Cargo fleet. D-ALCC was not only the last remaining MD-11F in Lufthansa Cargo's fleet but also the last MD-11 registered in Europe. As many other ex Lufthansa Cargo MD-11Fs, this will fortunately continue flying for Western Global Airlines in the United States.
We'd like to thank Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cargo for providing video material which allowed us to extend this farewell film quite a bit.

Yet another gorgeous aircraft that is being retired, long live the MD11. An absolute masterpiece of engineering and a truly beautiful bird. One that will never be forgotten by aviation lovers from around the world
The MD-11 is my all-time favorite. You always know that one is taking off no matter where you are in the airport because of the massive rear engine. Luckily, I live in the US, so I can see them in the skies for a few more years until they get replaced by 777s.

Gestern stand ich am Frankfurter Flughafen, um von der MD-11 Abschied zu nehmen. Der Moment als sie im Anflug auf die 07R war, man das letzte mal auf das Triebwerk 2 im Heck geschaut hat, und sie dann ganz sanft aufsetzte, war sehr emotional. Ich werde es vermissen dieses einzigartige Flugzeug über mein Haus fliegen zu sehen, weil sie für mich immer das Heimatsgefühl bedeutete. Immer als man die MD-11 sah, spürte man Fröhlichkeit, weil man mit diesem Flugzeug, mit all seinen Vor-und Nachteilen, sehr viel verband und auch weiter verbinden wird. In diesem Sinne : Thank you MD-11 for making FRA great!

An aircraft that was truly special... Good to know that at least D-ALCC along with a few others will be moving here to the states
I don't remember how many times I saw, watched, reviewed and re-watched this video!! Now it is a fact the end of a Golden Age of the much loved MD 11. My heart is sad to know that I will never see those landings, noisy, smoky and wonderful!! No other plane has the most beautiful and perfect takeoff climb like it. It's the plane that holds first place in my heart!! Thank you for such a beautiful and magnificent record!! It will stay in memory and in my heart forever!

Dieses Video ist wirklich Herz zerreißend. Wenn man dieses Flugzeug seine ganze Kindheit am FRA gewohnt war, ist es irgendwie schwer abschied zu nehmen. Das Video ist auf jeden Fall sehr gelungen, danke für die schöne Zusammenstellung.

I saw my fist MD11 in 91, it was a Swiss air MD11. I was working as a fueler at the time and an airplane need. I spoke with the SA ground guy and we went for a tour of the new airplane. They were very proud of her and rightly so, was such a beautiful plane. I'll always love the Douglas tri jets. No fuel efficient twin will ever have the style of the big Douglas planes.

I remember seeing this beauty for the first time at Hyderabad Airport! It was also the first time I saw an MD 11. So sad to see them leave!

It is a sadness the farewell of a great plane. It leaves a big mark like its predecessor the DC-10. And now the ugliest and most boring 2-engine planes that have nothing attractive will be reigning. And then when they retire the Boeing 747-8 it will be of enormous sadness. This fabulous aircraft, the magnificent MD-11, will always be in our hearts. A beautiful plane that will remain for history.

Ein wunderschönes Video ❤ Die Aufnahmen von der Rampe sind toll, wie habt ihr es denn dahin geschafft?
Herzlichen Dank! Wir haben bei der Lufthansa Cargo angefragt ob sie uns Teile ihrer Archivaufnahmen der MD-11F zur Verfügung stellen können und das haben sie freundlicherweise getan. Von der GEC sind zum Beispiel die Aufnahmen von der Rampe oder auch 1-2 Starts und Landungen vom Betriebsgelände aus. Die Aufnahmen stammen aus dem Jahr 2012.
