Thank you Mitski for shouting out this group.
yep, that's why i'm here
Whaaaaat the fuck!!?? How is this not on the radio?? Damn man, I'm sick of the same songs on hyper rotation till I'm done with them! There are so many amazing people like this that are overlooked on the daily. I mean this is just a hidden gem... This video is over a year old and it's the first time I've seen it.
You listen to the radio ?? 💤💨💦✌🪂📴
My new favorite band. Just what I'm looking for. Sweet!!!!
The bassist is amazing.
KEXP never fails to introduce me to new and interesting sounds!
that guitar sound is incredible , I don't know of any other player with that sound I assume its the guitar that helps give it that sound, but Morgan is an extraordinary player ,he uses the instrument to its full , On the bass Zach plays like a lead guitar but with such fluidity and drummer Spencer works so hard as do the whole band at the songs but Jasmyn gives it all the magical group sound......
They're called 'Pre-Amps' Cora .. usually turned off and on by the use of a 'foot-switch' .. 🎸🎸🎸
5 years late but ... lol
This group is growing on me
possibilly the best live band Ive seen this year , now a huge fav a wonderful set of musicians and a
incredibilly nice group of people
one of the best performance I've seen on KEXP in a while
Weaves is a Canadian indie pop band from Toronto, Ontario, consisting of vocalist Jasmyn Burke, guitarist Morgan Waters, drummer Spencer Cole and bassist Zach Bines.
History ..
The band was formed in 2012 by Burke and Waters, who first met each other in a bar and began recording demo songs based on files of song ideas Burke recorded on her iPhone. - In 2013, Bines and Cole joined the band shortly before recording commenced on their debut EP. - They released the self-titled debut EP in 2014, and followed up with a self-titled full-length album in 2016. ~
The 2016 album was shortlisted for both the Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year and the 2017 Polaris Music Prize in 2017, as well as garnering a SOCAN Songwriting Prize nomination for the song "Shithole". ~
The band's second full-length album, Wide Open, was released on October 6, 2017. It was shortlisted for Alternative Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2018. - In 2018 they received another SOCAN Songwriting Prize nomination for the song "Walkaway", and the album was a shortlisted finalist for the 2018 Polaris Music Prize. ~~
They kill it live, i recorded the last song "one more" at my studio in Toronto and they did it completely live with no overdubs with Jasmyn in bathroom as a vocal booth :)
first song is absolutely killer! love the singing and guitarplaying back and forth! rest is great also!
Stunningly cool compositions and performance... what a joy to listen to!
their sound is so cool/weird and i love it
awesome band, love it!!!!
damn that bass, that voice
Now that is a wonderful set of songs.
Weaves! First heard them live in Waterloo, Ontario and they put on an unreal show. Definitely would see them again.
see them live. they are AMAZING
This band should be way bigger than they are. Seriously.
Great set WEAVES. I just met Spencer the other day (outside rehearsal place). Nice dude. I really dig your sound, now I know where to find it. Thanks
So good. Based on this though, their studio recording engineer is a mad scientist for the guitar/drum/bass sounds they got on the album, one of the greatest sounding recorders I've head in a while.
i love that woman! your voice is sugar for my ears
'The Six' rocks! They are a diverse group of people from varying backgrounds.
These guys are funky and I like it
I always revisit this so I can miss the fuck out of them. /3
They're so good
Just heard these guys on CBC. Dig it.
UGH SO DOPE D;
la musica è molto divertente. Mi piace, ma mi piacciono ancora di più le camice del chitarrista e del batterista!
So fresh !
Good Gawd!!!!
It's amazing!
What????? This is so effing good
some deerhoof vibes here, love it
that was a fun trip
very excellent. May I request the Weaves do a 4 Musketeer Video for one of their songs. No idea why, I just think they would come up with something great fun.
the drummer is Cassidy, the vampire from Preacher
Yet another awesome band and performance. I love KEXP, it makes me want to visit Seattle.
And by the way, what the heck is that guitar where you can yell into it?
Looks like a Framus 1963 Television, couldn't find any info about the yelling though
Joe Curtis
Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.
the meeting of both cheryl waters should be called "Cheryls on the Water", because studio cheryl has to take boat to meet mom cheryl. It fits.
Love it. Does she front some other band? I recognise her voice.
me too
She sounds like Karen-O from yeah-yeah-yeahs to me
she sounds like Karen O..... thats right... so, Karen O and she sound like Siouxsie ;)
8:03 may be a suggestion
she sounds a little like the lead singer of skunk anansie
Muito bom. Fantástico.
10/10xxxx
Awesome fuckin' band!
WTF 23k views and only 465 likes?! I mean how?
I could be convinced that Morgan is Nick Thorburn in disguise
крутяк!
murphy from Narcos plays drums
I'm fucking weating
lmao this is unique and it works great
Thom Yorke yells into his guitar just sayin'
Weirdly likable :)
Hulahoop sounds like Primus if they didn't suck. Primus sucks!
