I have panhypopituitarism and I’ve had to take growth hormone shots every day as well as medicine every day. It’s something I struggle with but am doing my best with it
@@annadsouza6113 when i was diagnosed i was 8, but i was a short as a 5 year old and that raised concerns with the school nurse. thats how i started getting tested for a cause of why i was so short. To test me for it i remember doing blood work, MRI's, DEXA scans, X-rays and short synacthen tests. if you think you have hypopituitarism go to your GP and raise your concerns about your symptoms
When I studied textbook, it was laborious, with all unnecessary and obscure details and was time consuming. I instantly got the major idea after watching this short video because you combined all the important element together. Thank you so much.

Hypopituitarism is also caused by TBI. I was diagnosed after many years of suffering with the side effects you listed and my doctors did not know what was wrong with me. Thank you for the informative video as I am learning how the endocrine system works.
You know guys, you have without any doubt best illustration of the medical videos on youtube. But most videos lack depth, like important pathogenic mechanisms, how exactly symptom develops etc. But other than that, really great work.
@@UCanHaveHim yeah I live in the UK and my pharmacy puts them in a pack called a blister pack where my tablets are pre-prepared and I take them at specific times. Each month I get 4 weekly blister packs and I pick em up before they're done
Many thanks. For extra detail, I would add the Houssay phenomenom. This is where the diabetes of dogs without a pancreas improved with a hypophysectomy. If a diabetic has a reduced need for insulin, they may have hypopituitarism as there is reduced ACTH and GH and hence reduced corticosteroids. Worth noting that in your patients with acromegaly and diabetes, their diabetes may actually improve with pituitary surgery or octreotide.
Thank you! Very informative. Can hypothyroidism accidentally be misdiagnosed for hypopituitarism? (I had a closed head injury age 6(right frontal). Age 14 they gave me Levothyroxine til the present. (I weened off 2 months ago today...I feel great). I believe they needed to treat (pan)hypopituitarism and not hypothyroidism. 🤔

I think so, but in this case T4 would bei low TSH and T3 low to normal.
