- Sun Editor-in-Chief Adrienne Batra and Sun political columnist Brian Lilley and Warren Kinsella ask the question is CBC, the national state-funded broadcaster, is using an internal committee to shape the way the news on the Gaza War is being portrayed. Kinsella has found out from CBC employees that this is indeed the case that their coverage is one-sided - even refusing to call Hamas a terrorist organization.
CBC needes to be defunded.

@@longdong3889 Around 7.33 you hear the journalists saying that they are Pro-Israel and that everyone knows that. What these journalists are objecting to is that cbc is PRETENDING or CLAIMING to be objective. Big difference. So, I don't see it as the same "grift" as you are calling it.

I watch Yair Pinto on Israel News for the truth in Israel. It is infuriating that the Liberal coalition wants to send endless money Ukraine. I support Freedom of fear for the Israeli people, to go to bed , work or school and not be attacked by a terrorist group for no other reason than hate.

Every report I hear, whether it's from CBC,CTV or the Canadian Press, they are always quoting and taking Hamas reports as fact.
All media should be subject to specific requirements and held accountable at least twice a year like restaurants have too. Let's keep everyone honest.

Coverage of Israel/Gaza. Coverage of the Indigenous children/residential schools. Coverage of the Trucker Protests. Coverage of LGBTQ+++. Coverage of Covid (in fairness - no one covered that one it well). It's a long list of blown coverage. However, I don't think CBC should be defunded. I think it needs major reform (at the top & mid-levels of the news department).
If those CBC viewers don't like a difference of opinions then those viewers should pay the entire bill and CBC needs to lose the label of state broadcaster.

There must be a number of CBC reporters who fear loosing their job when the Conservatives form the next government and CBC funding cuts follow. Some may now realize they need a balanced resume in order secure future employment.

At an absolute minimum, the names of the people who "advise" them - i.e., shape their "reporting" - must be made public. In response to my last complaint to them, the producer actually said that their "report" was a "valid narrative". I replied that their job was supposed to be facts, not "narratives". No response to that.

We do not watch CBC for last 2-3 years, CBC used to be very good till 2016. Every time when we try to”to check” the Chanel, we regret about it and can watch no more than two minutes . Sad and dangerous….

This is not a recent thing. CBC has been bleeding viewership for decades, beginning in the mid 80's, that by the 20th century their viewership was miniscule. The only program that every brought in a majority of viewers was Hockey Night In Canada, which they have lost.
Champagne cork will pop here if Conservatives win the next Federal election and CBC is defunded. I would be happy to see a new mandate letter to CBC that moves them away from politics and State propaganda network, back to providing entertaining programs that highlight Canadian activities, sports, variety shows, drama, comedy series and if a news hour continues a new law that it must me balanced providing news not making it.

However, in sticking to the point of THIS particular story , really it does not matter what side of the fence you are on, the fact that the CBC employs a covert committee to intentionally skew the news in favour of any side is just plain wrong. This is what is being discussed here. A publically funded (to the tune of billions every year) Canadian media outlet is secretly picking and choosing stories, changing others, all to favour one side of the war is just plain disgusting, wrong and unethical.
