Are many black belts 6 Dan in the Program??
What is the average level in the Program??

The average level seriously depends on the unit and if they have MAI's. Some units have more time to do MCMAP and some dont. Some do not have any Marines with a red tab. The average for junior marines is somewhere between tan the green belt. I'm pretty sure they put a cap on what belt you can get up to depending on your rank. For example a Lcpl can only get up to a green belt. I have my MCMAP black belt but train jiujitsu and muay thai at an actual gym. MCMAP definitely teaches some good moves like guard, getting out of guard, arm bars, muay thai sweeps, weapons retention, etc. But the problem is once you get the belt, there is little to no sustainment. And as many of you are probably aware, martial arts require constant training.

Pretty motivating how the Marines limits our MCMAP progress based on rank. Being an 03 I guess I shouldn't rate black belt as an e-3, since i'm not actually someone who might need to use it. Good to know MCMAP is only around to make people look good for promotion, and not actually used in a real situation. If it was actually for fighting then why would you prevent the ones who need it most in real situations from having that higher knowledge of hand to hand combat?

@@hdacadian2899 If you not a WW2, Vietnam or after 9/11 until 2016 i will say , you are a peace time Marine. Very few Marines out of those dates are lucky enough to be involved in any conflict.
