Lanvin Fall 2012: A Carnival Atmosphere at Alber Elbaz' 10th Anniversary Show | Paris | FashionTV

www.FashionTV.c... PARIS - Perhaps the best way to describe the spectacular 10th anniversary runway show for Alber Elbaz's 10-year tenure at Lanvin is triumphant. Models walked down the runway with attitude, signifying the happiness and power Elbaz has been feeling now that he has consistently done an excellent job at Lanvin and he's celebrating the moment. The clothes celebrated the moment, too, but in a different way. From the front row, Bergdorf Goodman's Linda Fargo has said that Alber Elbaz is a man with a lot of love inside of him and that love is just bursting out in these pieces with their lush jewel tones (green, red, purple) and fun embellishments like ruffles and flouncy hemlines (like the short velvet dress worn by Karlie Kloss.)
Still, the essence of Alber Elbaz and Lanvin was there, best exemplified in those silhouettes--peplum, flounce, stiff asymetrical collars that somehow still seemed fun and all of which completely enhanced a woman's shape, something Elbaz is known for time and time again. Even when the dresses were darker, beaded, fur-lined, brocaded, and embellished, there was always a hint of oomph that gave way to fun. In this darker-themed, power-hungry Fall/Winter 2012-2013 season, that's something we all need right now.
Lanvin is having a moment and if you didn't notice it when Aymeline Valade walked down the runway in a black dress wrapped with a white ruffle and red gloves, then you must have noticed it immediately following the finale when in great spirit, Alber Elbaz appeared on stage to sing "Que Sera Sera" ensconced in confetti and performing figures from his past.
