A simple solution! I like that you went to the SIDE instead of the cab end of the bed. I never thought to approach it that way. I'm dealing with a lil' Tacoma in which space is a premium. Even with the stock hard cover, I get rain, so that's been a storage-tote-only approach for me- BUT, if you build a "foamie" type top (EPS Foam Board, Canvas adhered, exterior latex paint,) to your tray, rain could literally hit it and the contents inside would be protected. I like your pins- I'd suggest spare Allen keys (we've all got some around,) maybe even a size or two that are needed for your truck. Hand made is fine of course- but I like that you took the time to chamfer and paint yours! Nice work Steve!!!
How's she goin'? This is a great idea Steve. I find, especially with the 1/2 ton trucks these days, that getting access to the box is difficult. So having this rack that raises things up off the bed floor and within easy reach from the side of the truck makes this a 'winner' in my books!! Take 'er easy!!
Excellent use of that almost-unused-space. I'm making one for my vehicle recovery items that will be cabled tied down for security. Thanks for the idea.
@andyprairiedog Andy I've owned a lot of pickups and the wasted space has now emptied out my back seat. It's possible to extend the length even longer than I did to suit ones needs. Cheers 👍
ruclips.net/video/Nre7PmY0CBM/видео.htmlfeature=shared I usually go with a rubber mat in the bed but when I seen these I thought I'd try it. Fantastic 👍
Hey, that looked awesome. So, my question is howdo you secure this tool bag and whatever dat other thingy....from just flying around ? I have been very well beer up so be kind if my stupidy shows. Hehee. Have a great Sunday, Buddy .

I have a question ... wildly not related to this vlog. I have to replace my fuel pump and I don't have a garage where I can drop the fuel tank. I could remove my truck bed and slide it back and get access. The question. In what you've done have you had to get fasteners exposed from under that bed liner? I've not found any way to expose my truck bed mounting bolts from the bed liner that was sprayed on.
@johnjacobjinglehimerschmid3555 Not sure about your ranger but I always loosened the box bolts and electrical connections at the bumper on one side and remove the ones on the pump side and lift up the box gives you access to the fuel tank pump.
@@SteveRobReviews Yeah I could see that being a way as well. HOwever, whomever sprayed the bedliner in covered the bolts and I'm at a aloss how remove the bedliner on the bolts to get a wrench on them.
@@SteveRobReviews Was kind of hoping that you'd found a solvent that would do the job ... or if you had to resort to using a grinder and scraper or what not to bare the bolt heads.
Really handy solution. This is something I may do on my truck. So often I can't get to something because it has slid all the way out of reach. This would fix that. Also, this would be a lovely bed for your raccoon friends during the winter.🦝🦝🦝🦝🦝
Love this idea Steve! Making use of space in the box that isn’t utilized is a great idea 🍻
Absolutely! Doug this is definitely something you could make and use for your truck.
Hi Steve that is a great DIY project for sure. I’m sure you will get a lot of use out of it.
@@jimthecarguy Hi Jim
Thanks buddy it's working out terrific 👍
Great idea Steve. Having things stay in place is a good idea. Didn’t cost much but it doesn’t knead too, as long as it works…..CHEERS
Very true! Thanks Gator
I like it! Nice and simple, even I could make one or two for my '94 Chevy van and clear up some floor space. Thanks!
Thanks , your van could accommodate a much longer shelf , even better 👌

Hey Steve. The tack idea is good to know. I like this storage project. Nice job on the latch mechanism too.
Thanks Kenny 👍 you could definitely make these for your F250
@@SteveRobReviews I could use them, keep the gear outta the back seat
Great solution for a common problem Steve. That’s going to be great 😊 👍
@RustyGlovebox Thanks Lloyd , yes its been real handy so far.
That sure looks great and functional too!!
@wendingourway It's worked out great so far , thanks.

What's this? Trucks with carpet in the bed? That can't possibly do any work! That's luxury.

Hi Steve, just goes to show a little imagination can fix things! 👍

Cool idea but I don’t have those anchors or any anchors on my truck
I had to install these myself , check if your truck can take box anchors.
Nice, but you must live in a very safe area. Metal toolboxes can be locked. With your tool holder anyone can steal your stuff.
Absolutely correct I live in a safe area , never lock our doors or ever had anything stolen.
The tonneau cover when properly buttoned down, offers significant deterrent to thieves.
@hacksaw149 Yes absolutely, out of sight out of mind. 👍
How do you get the pins out without tools?
@jamesricci881 They come out ok , a pair of pliers helps.
Good idea
