  • River dolphins are extraordinary: the apex predators of some of the world's greatest rivers. But all 6 species in Asia and South America are now facing extinction due to a barrage of threats, including entanglement in fishing nets, the impact of hydropower dams, unsustainable sand mining and pollution. This is why the Global Declaration for River Dolphins is so significant. It will pave the way to a brighter future for river dolphins and their rivers by scaling up efforts to end harmful fishing practices, reduce pollution and expand protected areas.

Pretty sure the yangtze river dolphin is already extinct. Last seen in 2002.
The yangtze river is extremely polluted.
