The Bahrain Grand Prix is over and F1 is moving immediately onto the next race in Jeddah for the Saudi Arabian GP. Max Verstappen won the first race of the year in dominant form and it looks like 2023 will continue for Red Bull as Sergio Perez finished the race in second place from the two Ferrari's of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc. Does this mean the domination of the Red Bull will continue for another year?
Mclaren had a good race as Lando Norris finished just behind George Russell and I feel like in Jeddah Mclaren could go even better as the high speed nature of the circuit will suit their car very well and we could see Oscar Piastri get into the mix as well. Mercedes had an alright race but I don't think they are the third fastest car at the moment, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton only had an okay race and I feel like Jeddah will be more difficult for them and Aston Martin at the moment are nailed onto 5th fastest for Alonso and Lance Stroll.
Will the streets of Jeddah throw up any surprises, the walls are close and every mistake will be punished.

Thanks, always enjoy your previews.
Good to have circuits with such different characteristics back to back.
Yeah agreed, and Australia will be different again 😀
MrPulse is on fire with the content and uploads, awesome job
Haha thank you so much mate I appreciate it 😊
P5 sainz p4 Perez p3 Norris p2 leclerc p1 verstappen
I'll happily take that result 😀
Great video!! Who do you think will be quickest out of the bottom five teams?
This weekend it should be between Haas and Williams. I wouldn't be surprised to see Albon spring up a surprise
I hope we can have one of the bottom 5 teams score a point in Saudi as in Bahrain it was just the top 5 teams.
I really want Williams to get on top of the issues they have with the steering wheel as this hampered them in Bahrain. That being said, they should be encouraged by the potential of the car, and Alex's P13 qualifying was Williams best qualifying position since 2017 so there is improvement
Yeah I hope some of the mid field can get into the top 10, Williams could go well in Saudi if they don't have the same braking and steering wheel issues
fingers crossed for McLaren. High speed circuits should suit them and the next 3 circuits consist exactly that.
Yep! Good times coming up for McLaren fans
Yep I fully agree, Bahrain is always tricky for them and they still did well, it is upwards from here
@@shadabshah3352 fully agreed 😀
Ferrari was fastest in medium- High Speed corners in Bahrain during qualy and in the race as well
not gonna lie but McLaren won't finish ahead of ferrari and if the data is correct then sainz was lapping within tenth of perez and leclerc was 3-5 tenth quicker than sainz in long runs in practice sessions which means leclerc can finish ahead of perez . I am going bold with my top 5 : 1. VER 2. LEC 3. SAI 4.PER 5.NOR
That's a fair point. I'm hoping that Ferrari is still ahead 😉
This circuit was made for likes of McLaren with bunch of fast speed corners. This is not Ferrari strong point. I think we may be up for some unexpected results. My bet is 1 Perez 2 Lando 3 Max. Dont forget Checo is a beast at street circuits.
@@damianrusan447 well i can be wrong but telemetry data shows that this years ferrrari is faster than mclaren in even in high speed corners. Sure it can be mistake from norris in the lap of which data i am comparing but mclaren also don't have the top speed on level of ferrari and don't forget that jeddah have slow-medium corners in sector 1-2-3 where mclaren stuggles a little bit
@@damianrusan447ain't no way Max is getting 3rd. I do think Lando will do well, especially in qualifying. But he isn't going to get ahead of Max during the race.
@@damianrusan447Perez P1?🤔 we’ll see.. I got 1 Max 2 Leclerc 3 Sainz 4 Lando 5 Checo for my fantasy
I believe the fight for pole will be between Red Bull and Ferrari, and the top 5 will be 1. Max 2. Charles 3. Sainz 4. Sergio 5. George. If Ferrari has no trouble with their race, they have the ability to challenge Red Bull for the win. In Bahrain, both Ferraris had brake issues, with Charles experiencing a much more severe problem than Sainz. While Sainz was able to control his brake issue, Charles had to deal with it, which threw him off the challenge. However, Sainz, on the other hand, maintained a well 2.5-second average gap to Checo throughout the race and was only an average of 0.3 seconds slower than the fastest Red Bull. Charles even re-overtook Russell and was not passed by the McLarens, who had zero issues with their car. Also, Ferrari had the second-best tire degradation to Red Bull and was the fastest in the high-speed sectors on the most abrasive circuit on the calendar. So, now we know that Ferrari will be the closest challenger to Red Bull in the next race.
That's a fair point. It's a shame these issues for Ferrari hindered their race pace. Hopefully we get a real indication this weekend
@@MrPulseF1I heard someone say Ferrari are working on fixing the brakes before next circuit, have you heard this?
@@panicbuyflax3461 I anticipate they will be working to sort out braking issues a quickly as possible so I wouldn't be surprised if there was either a fix this weekend or at Australia
Yep it’s what I expect
Yeah hopefully the whole season doesn't end up being predictable 😅
I am looking forward to the Max Verstappen podcast after every race!
It feels like a certainty
Ferrari shafting Leclerc, what is new. Good video mate
I don't think Ferrari shafted Leclerc, it was an issue with it being the first race. It happens
@@MrPulseF1 remember I said if leclerc's engine is good he can finish in 2nd place , I should have said his whole car. He is very quick in bahrain we have saw that in 2019(8s ahead of p2),2022(he won obviously),2023(15s ahead of sainz) but also unlucky the most 2019(engine issue), 2023(Control Electronics issue), 2024(break issue)
I think the race pace of the Mercedes' is a bit difficult to gage right now since both cars had to slow down due to a lack of cooling. Which was a good joke, since they ditched that zeropod that should have made cooling harder. Here's to Max breaking the 10-in-a-row record.
Yeah that's true, hopefully they don't have any issues in Saudi so we can get a better idea. It was weird given Bahrain this year was not exactly warm, only 19 degrees
The references to Mercedes last year are rather surprising given that this is a completely new car. We can also wait to see the true race pace of Mercedes if it is true race pace was significantly hampered by cooling issues in Bahrain. Another factor not getting adequate highlight in many analysis of Bahrain is that temperatures there were rather/comparatively low
The engine mode used would have cost 4 tenths if they could push. But they couldn’t and had to lift and coast the whole race costing more time. The cherry on the top was they couldn’t bring the hard tyres in and they degraded quickly as a result. Look at the race sims versus race pace.
I think it will be close fight between mclaren and ferrari as at the moment ferrari tend to suit almost every race this year. I think the they will struggle around monaco or hungary but (like red bull) will suit almost every track and for jeddah they will finish on the podium and if perez has a bad race possibly the mclarens.
Yeah I think you could be right. There are a number of stories for this year thankfully and hopefully someone gets closer to Red Bull
chances of mclaren making such a big improvement in such a short time seems very unlikely to me. Looks like they've badly dropped the ball this year. Seems like they put all of their resources into developing last years car at the expense of this years
Possibly true, the issue is they have been weak in Bahrain for a few years. We might get a better idea this weekend
agreed. after the pace different we saw between ferrari and the rest of the pack in bahrain, mclaren seems more in a fight with mercedes than ferrari.
I have the exact same picking order as you have in terms of drivers and teams for the Jeddah Race. Looking forward for an good Mclaren vs Ferrari fight, for the final podium spot, Which I too think Mclaren will win.
Yeah I think it will be fantastic, I'm looking forward to it
As for Aston Martin its puzzling for many because, it has a stable rear and good one lap pace so the car is not slow, so aston martin will be looking at why its race pace was slow. If they solve it they will come back
Yeah Bahrain was a weird one they were not great on tyre wear really but yet they opted to keep Alonso out being dead slow, weird one
@@MrPulseF1 yes 👍
Russell, Norris, Leclerc, Hamilton and Alonso already said that they cant focus on Max, as they think he will be unbeatable this year as well. So they focus on Checo to get closer to RB.
Yeah pretty much, which is disappointing
Having grown up watching Schumi battling Mika and Kimi, I really hope Ferrari and McLaren can fight each other. Ferrari probably has the straight line top speed advantage, and their tyre wear should not be an issue, but their cornering ability is far better suited to slow speed corners, and hopefully that allows McLaren to put up a fight.
Yeah you said it perfect, there really could be a great fight between them
Here here
You do know Mercedes lost 0.7 seconds a lap in Bahrain due to a cooling issue? The McLaren race pace was dire considering this
I made this a few hours after the race so information like that was unavailable 😊
Piastri has had problems with tyre wear. Suspect he could be the one to make the podium if tyres are out of the equation
That's a fair point, he was impressive in Saudi last year too in Qualifying when the Mclaren was not a great car so you could be right
What do you think about RB in this race?
Max started last year from p15 and still got 2nd within 5 seconds. Guess this year he will start from frontrow ..... well and we know what bappens then.
Yeah he could be rapid this weekend
My top 5 qualifying is
1. Verstappen
2.perez
Norris
Leclerc
Piastri
Yeah that sounds reasonable to me 😊
Your top 5 is stupid.
1. Leclerc
2. Verstappen
1. Leclerc
2.Max
3.Lando
4.Perez
5. Sainz
No more top midfielder? 😢
Apologies, it will be back 😉 I would say it should be close between Williams and potentially RB, I think Williams could go well given their general straight line speed
Sargeant may end up in the wall at Saudi trying to do too much to redeem his poor performance in Bahrain
In his defence the poor performance was down to his steering wheel sending his brake bias forward 35% by itself which I admit would probably affect me too.
I have a feeling RB be unbeatable on this track. i agree with you. another snoozefest i think.
That is my worry for a lot of races this year
@@MrPulseF1 We cant criticise RB they build the best car. I just hope others can catch up. As its proven Perez cannot give us a fight for the WDC
@@mstar011 yeah I agree, you can't fault red bull for being better
Max will DNF, Hamilton a surprised win, Perez second and LeClerc will complete the podium.
That would be an interesting result definitely 😀
saying it rn: McLaren will be 4th fastest car in Saudi and they'll be like that through the entire season.
We shall see. It's still hard to place mercedes and McLaren I feel
I think McLaren will be quick in qualifying, not sure about their race pace yet but I think Lando has a good chance of a podium.
Bro got a merc so wrong they were on the same pace as McLaren in Bahrain cause they were dealing with issues that were losing the 6/7 tenths per lap. They are better than McLaren this guy just clearly doesn’t like Merc
cant be better if you have issues with overheating lol
I don't think Merc will get their issues sorted out this soon. They should be more competitive, I think they have a good aero package. They just need to get their PU issues sorted.
It was a cooling set up issue mate, the temperature was different to expected this is a one race issue
It may be a one race issue, but they won't be able to maintain the fast pace if it's causing them to overheat. So they will have to be slower or figure out a way to get more cooling to the power unit. Can't get something for nothing
I think McLaren will be ahead of Merc next weekend, but they are close in pace
