My wife and I just visited Istanbul and Turkiye last week. Your videos played a huge role in our decision to travel to Turkiye. It was a wonderful trip. Thank you for all that you do!
My favourite place on earth. I lived there for six years working as an English teacher. 4 years on the Anatolian side (Kozyatagi) and for 2 years ( Haskoy) on the European side. A truly wonderful place.
You truly describe Türkiye so well. I have been following your channel for a while and I am currently in Ankara visiting. I have been here for 2 months now and I am amazed at how quickly one gets to know the neighborhood shopkeepers. I have 3 supermarkets within a two-minute walking distance. There’s a language barrier but we somehow work it out with hand gestures and Google Translate. I love the people, their culture, and the food!
Got back from Türkiye a couple of days ago and I just can’t wait to go back! The culture, the people, the infrastructure is so good!! And yes, they are super helpful and they were so excited to hear I learnt a bit of Turkish just by watching Turkish shows 🫶🏻 It’s a piece of heaven on Earth 🇹🇷🧿♥️ Thank you for your super informative videos, used a lot of your tips 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Nice presentation, very informative for people visiting for the first time, your last tip concerning trying to communicate with them in Turkish language and how they really like it and will treat you differently is spot on, its good that you've noticed that; excellent work.
I was in Istanbul last week, stayed in Sultanahmet for a week with my family, absolutely fell in love with the place. Already planning to go back😊Even though the place it’s the busiest, it’s the best choice in my opinion as it’s closer to the iconic attractions. ❤
Great and informative vid as always. As a tourist, its good to know the local resident experience and alternatives. Makes it more cost effective for those travelers on a limited budget.
Dear Berry a month ago we returned from Istanbul (after a year); despite inflation and rising prices, people remain just as nice and helpful, accommodating ... from the European side we set off, by public transport, by boat, to Asian, super experience (cards of course we have for next)... I hope that in a year or sooner, Istanbul again. Milan from the Czech Republic

Greetings from El Paso! I think this is the first of your videos I have ever seen. Istanbul is on my short list (next couple of years) of places to visit. Hopefully I can make it there by next spring. Your video was great. I am more enthusiastic about visiting than I have ever been!

Same here. As a crazy cat person I loved the cats. We had mumma cat and the kittens outside our hotel. Brought them breakfast every morning. One restaurant we ate at a few times one cat I shared my dinner with everytime. I think he got more than me lol

You made a nice video with good information. Last month I visited Istanbul with my family. We enjoyed lots. I wish visit again Bosporus , historic Masque, museums many mores & foods and tea ☕️ ❤ Thank you
I'm almost midway through a two month stay here in Istanbul, and so far I am really enjoying the city (especially the ferries). I am relying on Google Translate heavily - and everyone so far has been very helpful. I'm staying in Kadiköy, close enough to the main area of activities, so it's not quite so quiet here, but I can shut the window when it gets too much :) Thanks for the video!
The historic importance of this beautiful city cannot be overstated - no wonder it was such a pivotal place given it being built on two continents - and by the way - I never knew this before watching this video so thanks.

I wonder if locals think/ worry about potential future earthquake? 🤔 ...maybe with the consideration of the buildings safety from the last century-ies... Not that I am negative, but Istanbul has clearly very specific location so just wondering HOW locals approache to this type of thinking..🤷🏻♀️... I mean, is it the same as living on the west coast of U.S. when the architecture is already suited for this kind of situation? Considering, Istanbul is very ancient megapolis plus the building amnesty from previous years... I don't know, hard to say... Maybe you can shed a little light on this topic 😊 Thank you, love your videos 💯👌
Hello, I am one of the local people. We all have earthquake awareness. On August 17, 1999, a major earthquake occurred in a region close to Istanbul. Thousands of people died. Since then, the rules for the construction of buildings have changed a lot. Today, with the support of the state and local municipalities, old houses are being demolished and replaced with earthquake-resistant new ones. However, very old houses or structures that are historical monuments are strengthened with steel construction. However, in a city where 16 million registered people, +3 million refugees and illegal immigrants, and 16 - 17 million tourists come annually, the change in construction normally progresses slowly. My advice to future tourists or long-term stays is to stay in newly built buildings.
Dear Bery, thank you so much for your informative videos! I am going to Istanbul in March. This is my 4th time! The previous times I had difficulties finding a bakery that sells bread. I am staying in the karakoy and galata area. I couldnt fully understand the word you use for bakery here. Dure?

I had foot surgery 4 months ago and now, my feet are worst than before. My spouse and I are going for a 3 week vacation to Turkey in March 2024 and I will be taking a mobility scooter to get around. Will I be out of place and attract a lot of attention with a mobility scooter?
Perhaps not what Bery was thinking of but there's a stark contrast between the friendliness of the Turks on either side of the Bosphorus. The Anatolian Turks (Asian) are much more friendly than their counterparts on the side that I live on. 🌸[PS I'm talking about shop owners and staff here]
