- Steller Systems has constructed a 6-metre (one-third size) technology demonstrator of their 19-metre Offshore Insertion Craft concept. This is an entry for the MoD's Novel Amphibious Craft competition to find a replacement for the Royal Marines Landing Craft (LCVP).

Some can't read the description and see it's a (one-third size) demonstrator.
Don't you loose the element of surprise when you have to drop anchor turn around and then back onto the beach?
I'd rather be in a rubberboat than that death trap. Took like half an hour to back that thing in.
looks god in a flat calm any good in a force 5 or above and this was filmed in coastal waters not offshore
often times I've found coastal waters to be far more rough than offshore, and how would you know if it didn't handle well in rough conditions, as you said there's no evidence of it not
In the article they claim 30 knots in sea state 3, and that's all they have to say in regards to how well it handles rough weather/sea.
Can I have one ?
Why reverse ashore? Wheels?? Propellers in the sand or rock beach?? Why not land as usual?? What is the benifit?
The bow ramp is good once you get to shore but terrible while you are getting there.
It's a trade off this company has obviously decided isn't worth it. Whether the military agrees we won't find out till we see who they award the contract to.

Make it larger to carry 2 armoured vehicles for a fast amphibious insertion

Seems a bit unnecessary. Not particularly stealthy, overcomplicated and no doubt very expensive. Doesn't do anything a RIB can't do
This is a 1/3 size demonstrator.
I think this company is trying to preemptively address the fact that you can't afford to get your big ships close to shore anymore, so the landing craft will have to travel large distances quickly.
This means they designed the landing craft to be a better boat than a landing craft, because that is what it will spend most of the time doing.
