    Happy that you found this useful. I can try and include this on the iis.net website, or at least a link to this series.

    Thanks to this video, I could understand how http requests are directed to the right target application pool and what IIS consists of.

    Why do I see this only now? This is amazing. Is the architecture similar for IIS 10, right?

    Hello Bryan S, basically IIS on Windows 7 is IIS 7.5, which is equivalent to IIS 7.5 on Windows 2008 R2. Think of it this way:
    IIS 7: Windows Vista and Windows 2008
    IIS 7.5: Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2
    As for the risks, it depends how you configure the server. By default, it is pretty secure and it will only serve static stuff, so this is not a vector of malware infection if you are referring to this.

    Excellent video Paul. I would appreciated more information on how the W3 Service loads the web site/service app pools (or W3WP processes) as well as how a web request gets forwarded to a particular app pool.

    Hey Paul, I've got some questions:
    Are there any risks by activating and using IIS on OS Windows 7?
    What's the difference between using IIS on WS 2008 and W7?

    Hello paul , I getting the 502 error in the IIS server, but it happen randomly .can you help to solve the issuse.

    • @pcociuba
      @pcociuba  2 года назад

      Normally, 502 status codes are sent by a reverse proxy or some sort of proxy equipment before the IIS server, and not the IIS server itself. IIS will issue 502 status codes when you run something like ARR (Application Request Routing) on top. There is a very good article on how to troubleshoot these here: linqto.me/Arr502
